Chapter 128 Revenge

Qin Xia was seething with anger but had nowhere to vent it. With a livid face, she picked up Qin Yubao, who had been cowering timidly to the side, and prepared to leave.

Just then, she turned around and saw a furtive figure flash by behind a tree not far away.

"Who's there? Come out!"

Qin Xia shouted angrily, but the figure ran even faster like a startled rabbit upon hearing her voice.

At first, Qin Xiashi thought it was some suicidal servant eavesdropping on their master, but when she chased after them and took a closer look, she realized that the person was none other than Qi Yubao's wet nurse.

Qin Xia put down Qin Yubao from her arms, narrowed her eyes slightly, and a fierce light flashed in them. Then she happened to see a bamboo pole used to catch cicadas standing by the wall. She grabbed the bamboo pole and rushed forward in a few steps, raising her hand to swing it at the wet nurse.

"Oh my..."

The wet nurse was struck hard on the back with a stick. She cried out in pain, stumbled, and fell to the ground, where she lay half-lying down, groaning in agony.

"You lowly servant! I haven't even settled accounts with you yet, and you've already delivered yourself to my doorstep?"

While cursing viciously at the person on the ground, Qin Xiashi casually threw the bamboo pole on the ground.

At this moment, several servants heard the commotion and rushed over. Seeing this scene, they looked at each other in bewilderment, wondering what had happened.

"Drag this wretched maid into my courtyard. I'm going to teach her a lesson today!"

Qin Xia gave orders to several servants.

Immediately afterwards, the burly servants dragged the wet nurse away.

Hearing the wet nurse's desperate pleas for mercy, Qin Xia spat fiercely on the ground, her expression twisted in a terrifying grimace.

This farce terrified Qin Yubao, especially Qin Xia's fierce and menacing appearance, which left a deep shadow on his young mind.

You should know that Qin Xiashi usually presented a gentle and kind image to him, and was also very kind to the servants. This was the first time Qin Yubao had ever seen his mother so fierce and terrifying.

Having witnessed her skill in hitting the wet nurse with a stick, Qin Yubao was trembling with fear but dared not utter a sound, afraid that she would be the next one to be beaten.

However, Qin Xiashi was completely unaware that her outburst had frightened the child; all she could think about was getting back to the courtyard to find the wet nurse to vent her anger on.

Xing'er, being quite perceptive, picked up Qin Yubao and left the small garden first, knowing that her mistress had more important things to do.

The wet nurse was dragged all the way to Qin Xia's courtyard. Several servants roughly threw her on the ground and then stood aside waiting for Qin Xia to come over.

Before long, Qin Xia returned to her own courtyard. Once in her own territory, she sat leisurely in a chair, looking down at the trembling wet nurse.

"You damned, shameless wench! You treacherous dog! How dare you eavesdrop on your master's conversation! I haven't even settled accounts with you for what happened to Bao-ge yet!"

As she spoke, Qin Xiashi casually picked up a teacup and threw it at the person on the ground.

With a sharp crack, the teacup shattered into pieces on the ground.

The wet nurse instinctively dodged to the side to avoid being hit, but even so she was still quite frightened. Before Qin Xia could say anything more, she began to kowtow repeatedly on the ground.

"Master, please forgive me! I didn't mean to overhear... No, no, I didn't hear anything..."

She rambled on incoherently while repeatedly banging her head on the ground, and soon a bruise appeared on her forehead.

Unfortunately, Qin Xia was not about to give up. Before the wet nurse could continue speaking, she stood up angrily and walked over, then kicked the person on the ground hard.

The empress screamed in pain from the kick and burst into tears. She then scrambled over to Qin Xia's leg, begging for mercy.

"You lowly servant girl, you two are just like Li Chang'an, deliberately trying to make trouble for me, aren't you? I'll beat you to death today!"

While cursing, Qin Xiashi gritted her teeth and stomped hard on the wet nurse's hand.

The pig-like screams echoed in the courtyard, and even the servants couldn't bear to watch any longer, so they all turned their faces away.

"My lord, I am truly innocent! How could I dare to oppose you? My loyalty to you is absolute!"

The wet nurse, weeping bitterly, assured Qin Xia of her loyalty. Then, as if grasping at a straw, she cried out, "Madam, I can help you! All you're doing is kick them out, right? I can help you..."

Upon hearing this, Qin Xia immediately calmed down. She moved her foot away and stood there coldly looking at the wet nurse whose face was streaked with tears and snot: "What did you say?"

"This servant...this servant can really help you, help you drive them all out..."

The wet nurse repeated her words in a trembling voice. Then she secretly withdrew her hand, which had been trampled and gone numb.

She knelt on the ground, not daring to lift her head, as if she were facing a devil who had come out of hell.

No, at this moment, Qin Xiashi was more terrifying than a devil to her.

"How can you possibly help me? You're not just lying to me to save your own life, are you?"

Qin Xia crossed her arms and squinted slightly as she scrutinized the person on the ground with suspicion.

"This servant would never dare to lie to you! If I have uttered even a single falsehood today, may I die a horrible death... No, may I be at your mercy!"

As she spoke, the wet nurse raised her hand as if to swear an oath, and with her bloodless face and the bruise on her forehead, the oath seemed quite believable.

"Since that's the case, I'll trust you this once. But if you do something that doesn't satisfy me, then the consequences... I'm sure you know very well what you're going to do."

As she spoke, a sinister smile crept across Qin Xia's face.

She turned and sat back down in her chair. Her expression returned to its usual kind demeanor, but her eyes, like those of a venomous snake, still sent chills down one's spine.

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and help the wet nurse up! Honestly, how could you be so careless as to fall like this? Look at the injury on her head, tsk tsk tsk... Hurry back and put some medicine on it. I'll have Xing'er bring you some silver to help you recover."

After exchanging some intimate words, Madam Qin still wore a kind smile, as if she were truly a considerate mistress of the house who cared for her servants.
