Chapter 178 A Narrow Escape

With a turn of her head, the sharp blade was pointed directly at Caiyun's neck. Everyone around her held their breath in tension. A pale smile appeared on Caiyun's face, and she resignedly closed her eyes.

"Caiyun! No, no! I beg you, please don't kill her!"

Bai Ruohan suddenly cried out and knelt down in front of Feng Beichuan, shielding Caiyun behind her and then reaching out to grab the blade.

Crimson blood flowed continuously from between her fingers, dripping onto the ground, a truly shocking sight.

Bai Ruohan's originally fair hands were now covered in blood.

Faced with the woman's desperate pleas, Feng Beichuan showed no pity whatsoever. She looked at Bai Ruohan's face and sneered, "What, Miss Bai, do you want to exchange your life for hers?"

"Miss, let go! Miss, how could you be so foolish! There's so much blood, so much blood!"

Caiyun was at a loss, looking at Bai Ruohan's hands covered in blood, but she didn't dare to reach out and forcibly pry Bai Ruohan's hands open. She could only stand aside and keep shedding tears.

"Even if you want to kill them, there's no need to trouble Your Highness. Since they are people from my Prime Minister's residence, the Prime Minister's residence will handle it itself."

At this moment, Bai Ruohan suddenly seemed like a completely different person, no longer appearing as frail as before.

A hint of mockery flashed in Feng Beichuan's eyes. It seemed that Bai Ruohan wanted to confront him head-on.

"Do you think you can stop me with just one sentence?"

Feng Beichuan lowered his eyes, looking down at Bai Ruohan's still pale face, his words full of sarcasm.

To try and break a rock with an egg is to overestimate one's own strength!

"I will tell my father about this matter, and I believe he will make his own decision."

Bai Ruohan raised her face to face Feng Beichuan, and then unleashed her final trump card.

Feng Beichuan's face turned icy cold, and he narrowed his eyes slightly: "Are you threatening me?"

That old bastard Bai Yuanshan doesn't deserve it!

"This humble woman dares not, but only hopes that Your Highness will not do anything irreversible due to a moment of impulse."

Bai Ruohan bowed slightly again, her face displaying an expression of neither servility nor arrogance.

More and more people gathered around to watch the spectacle, all eager to see how the matter would ultimately end.

Li Chang'an couldn't help but rub her throbbing temples. At this moment, the injuries she had sustained were nothing compared to what she had suffered. If she allowed these people to continue like this, it would truly be the death of her.

What a hassle!

"Alright, stop with the killing and torture. This whole thing started because of me, so let me handle it!"

After saying that, Li Chang'an stepped forward and grabbed the hilt of the knife in Feng Beichuan's hand, then said to him irritably, "Let go!"

Although Feng Beichuan was somewhat confused, he still obediently let go.

Li Chang'an frowned again, looking at Bai Ruohan who was still holding the blade in her hand, and said impatiently, "Let go of it too, doesn't your hand hurt from holding the blade like that?"

Upon hearing this, Bai Ruohan was taken aback, then released her grip and shakily stood up from the ground.

"What, you really enjoy kneeling?"

Li Chang'an turned to look at Caiyun and asked her question with displeasure.

These people are all so troublesome!

"Chang An, you're not just going to let this go, are you? Do you know that if you had been a little careless just now, you might have lost your life!"

Feng Beichuan could hardly believe his eyes. He absolutely could not accept that Li Chang'an had let those two people go so easily.

"Shut up!"

Li Chang'an frowned, glanced sideways at Beichuan, and then threw the knife in his hand to the ground.

“I don’t care about your life, but this matter can’t just end like this. Although I only suffered some superficial injuries, my horse is badly hurt.”

Li Chang'an crossed his arms and looked at Bai Ruohan and Caiyun with a stern face. Then he said, "You said you threw those broken porcelain shards? Fine, then take off your shoes now and walk over them with your feet on the shards!"

Compared to one's own life, this little bit of suffering is nothing.

Without hesitation, Caiyun immediately took off her shoes and socks and prepared to step on the still blood-stained shard of porcelain.

"Gathering Clouds!"

Bai Ruohan spoke in a trembling voice, reaching out to tightly grasp Caiyun's arm, and two streams of hot tears immediately rolled down her cheeks.

"Miss, don't worry about me, everything will be alright soon! If you're scared, just close your eyes and don't look."

Caiyun reached out and grasped Bai Ruohan's hand, then gently squeezed it in her own palm to reassure her before resolutely letting go.

Bai Ruohan was already sobbing uncontrollably, and her hands in her sleeves had unknowingly clenched into fists.

Caiyun, barefoot, closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and stepped directly onto the broken porcelain shard.

Bai Ruohan, who was standing to the side, finally couldn't bear to watch any longer. Her eyes were red as she turned her face away, not daring to imagine what would happen in a moment.

Some of the more timid onlookers covered their eyes.

In the blink of an eye, Li Chang'an suddenly drew his sword from his waist and swiftly pried open the broken piece of porcelain on the ground.

There was no excruciating pain in the soles of her feet as she had imagined. Caiyun couldn't help but open her eyes and look down, only to find that the porcelain shard on the ground was nowhere to be found.

Seemingly unable to believe her eyes, Caiyun lifted her foot to look at the sole of her foot. Apart from a little dust on it, there were no wounds.

"Alright, you can leave now!"

Li Chang'an had already sheathed his sword and looked at Caiyun with a calm expression.

"this……"

Caiyun suddenly felt flattered. She originally thought that this punishment was the greatest blessing she could ask for, and she never dared to imagine that she would be able to leave unscathed.

"Aren't you leaving yet? Do you want me to regret this?"

Li Chang'an raised an eyebrow somewhat impatiently and asked.

Upon hearing this, Caiyun didn't hesitate any longer. She quickly bowed to Li Chang'an to express her gratitude, then turned and pulled Bai Ruohan, who was still in a daze, away in a hurry.

"Chang An, you... what am I supposed to say to you!"

Feng Beichuan couldn't help but sigh. He had originally wanted to see just how much courage that girl had, but he never expected that such a thrilling show would end so abruptly.

"If you don't know what to say, then don't say anything!"

Li Chang'an gave him a disgruntled look and turned to leave.

Although he was very unhappy, Feng Beichuan felt a little better when he heard the passersby around him praising Li Chang'an's actions. Then he couldn't help but chuckle.
