Chapter 39. I have complete faith in you.
For several days in a row, Gao Wen was always busy when Fang Han tried to contact her at noon.
I was so busy that I didn't even have time to type a few words with him.
Gao Wen would usually lower her voice and quietly send Fang Han a voice message saying that she was going to class.
She used to come home very late at night and would livestream while doing her skincare routine and chatting with her fans. But recently she's started livestreaming on her way home.
Make the most of every possible moment to complete the planned tasks.
This has always been Gao Wen's style.
Fang Han was working overtime in his office when his phone notified him that Gao Wen was live streaming. He stopped what he was doing and started the live stream.
Gao Wen's delicate, fair face appeared on the phone screen. She was walking slowly down the street, looking at the comments on the screen. She said softly, "I did get home a little late today because I had a lot of classes. There was nothing I could do." She coughed lightly twice to clear her throat. "It's been a bit chilly lately, so I need to hurry home."
Fang Han frowned when he heard the cough coming from the phone.
He immediately shut down his computer and got up to go back.
When Fang Han entered the elevator, his phone had no signal. After he came out and turned on his phone again, Gao Wen's live stream was already showing up.
The live stream ended right after it started?
Fang Han quickened his pace as he headed back, feeling somewhat anxious.
Rushing back, Fang Han opened the door and found that Gao Wen's room lights were off; she hadn't returned yet?
But she was already on her way. Fang Han's mind raced with thoughts, and the more he thought about it, the colder his back became. He took out his phone and sent a message to Gao Wen.
She didn't reply.
Fang Han panicked even more. After thinking for two seconds, he didn't even make a WeChat voice call, but made a phone call directly.
The other end didn't pick up the phone.
Fang Han felt uneasy and turned to walk towards the door. As soon as he opened the door, he bumped into Gao Wen, who was about to open it herself.
"Senior?" Gao Wen walked in and asked, "Is there something you need?"
"I wanted to ask when you're coming back. There are some details to discuss regarding the project." Fang Han took a step back and closed the door.
"I can't talk to you tonight." Gao Wen dragged her feet in, sat on the sofa, her eyebrows furrowed, and her face looked somewhat haggard.
"What's wrong?" Fang Han walked to her side.
Gao Wen put her bag aside and rubbed her head: "I had already walked all the way to the community when I realized that my keys were missing. I saw them at the museum, so I went back to look for them."
"I think I was in too much of a rush and caught a chill, which is why I have a headache."
I guess it's because she was too tired today. A new member came, and she didn't take a nap. She had classes from afternoon to evening, so she wasn't feeling well.
Hearing this, Fang Han looked worried and went to the side to pour her a glass of water: "Why don't you go to sleep early?"
"Let me catch my breath." Gao Wen coughed twice, looking exhausted. She took the water Fang Han poured for her, drank a couple of sips, and was about to put it aside.
"Drink more to soothe your throat; your voice is hoarse," Fang Han gently advised her.
Gao Wen raised her glass and took a sip, then shook her head and put it aside: "I can't drink anymore."
Perhaps because she was feeling unwell, the tasteless warm water made her lose her appetite.
Gao Wen felt a throbbing headache, as if countless silver needles were piercing her head. Her body was tired and weak, and her throat was dry and sore. She didn't even have the strength to get up and take a shower. She didn't want to collapse into bed after a long day, so she could only sleep on the sofa in the living room.
She was very wary; she would open her eyes after lying down for a while, her body constantly tense.
Fang Han sat to the side watching her and said softly, "I still have some things to take care of in the living room. You should go to sleep first, and I'll wake you up later."
"Cough cough cough—" Gao Wen's brows relaxed immediately. "Thank you, senior. Wake me up in a bit, I need to catch my breath."
Since it was a shared apartment, Gao Wen was still worried.
But with Fang Han by her side, she felt inexplicably at ease.
"Mm," Fang Han replied.
Gao Wen must have been exhausted. As soon as she finished speaking, her breathing gradually became even. Fang Han sat and watched her for a while, during which he placed an order on his phone.
After she fell asleep, Fang Han returned to his room, took a clean blanket from the closet, slowed his pace to her side, opened the blanket, and gently covered her with it.
Gao Wen's hand almost slipped off the sofa, but Fang Han quickly reached out and caught it.
Her skin was delicate and soft; touching it felt like an electric current rapidly sweeping through his body, making his ears burn.
He gently placed her hand back into the blanket.
There was a noise coming from outside the door.
Xu Fei opened the door and came back.
Fang Han stood up and made a "shushing" gesture at her, eagerly asking for help.
Xu Fei immediately hung up the phone she was dialing. Seeing Gao Wen sleeping on the sofa, she smiled at Fang Han, walked over, and whispered, "Are you afraid I'll wake up your dear junior?"
Fang Han felt helpless, but did not deny it.
Xu Fei looked at Gao Wen, who was fast asleep under a blanket, then looked at Fang Han and continued to tease her in a low voice, "Why haven't you won her over yet? If you had, would you still be sleeping here? Wouldn't you be in your room?"
Fang Han said in a deep voice, "She's not feeling well."
Upon hearing this, Xu Fei stopped talking, lowered her voice, and went back to her room.
Fang Han's gaze fell on Gao Wen again. Perhaps because she was feeling unwell, she wasn't sleeping comfortably. She raised her hand from under the covers and gently tapped her forehead.
Seeing this, Fang Han went back into the room again and took out a bottle of oil.
He came to Gao Wen's side, bent down and removed her hand from her forehead, his fingertips dabbing oil on her temples and forehead.
The two were so close that Fang Han held his breath.
He looked at Gao Wen's face so close to his own, his heart pounding. His gaze fell on the tip of her nose. After thinking for a while, he took some more oil and dabbed it on the philtrum under her nose.
That will make me more comfortable.
Just as Fang Han was applying oil to Gao Wen, her hot breath seemed to scorch his hands.
Fang Han reflexively withdrew his hand, his face flushed, and he quickly stood up, carrying the oil back to his room.
He went to the restroom and calmed down for a while.
When I came out again, my phone notified the delivery person that they were almost there.
To avoid waking Gao Wen, Fang Han left early and waited at the elevator entrance. He then returned with the takeout and went into the kitchen.
Gao Wen didn't sleep well and had several strange dreams.
Whenever she dreams of her so-called past life, her heart races, and she forces herself to wake up, fearing that she will fall into a desperate situation again.
Before she even opened her eyes, she was the first to smell a fragrant aroma.
When Gao Wen saw herself lying on the sofa, her mind was still a little sluggish and she hadn't quite recovered. Her eyes were filled with a hint of confusion. But when she saw the figure in the kitchen, her heart immediately calmed down.
It's Fang Han.
Gao Wen looked at the blanket covering her, picked it up and smelled it; it had a faint, refreshing scent.
Like him.
Fang Han turned around unintentionally and saw that Gao Wen had woken up. He opened the sliding door, walked out of the kitchen, and asked, "Are you feeling better?"
"Hmm." Gao Wen slowly sat up. She smelled the oil on her clothes and asked in confusion, "Senior, did you put oil on me?"
Fang Han's eyes darted away as he opened the pot lid, pretending to be very busy: "Yeah, I saw you had a headache, so I wiped some down for you."
"Thank you, I feel much better." Gao Wen slowly folded the blanket and put it aside.
Fang Han brought out a bowl and placed it on the dining table, then looked at Gao Wen: "Want something to eat?"
"What time is it now?" Gao Wen subconsciously glanced at the time on her phone.
She strictly controls what she eats at night.
Fang Han looked at her with serious eyes and said slowly, "When people feel unwell, they should eat more and nourish themselves. Health is more important than anything else. Eating more will give your body the strength to fight back."
Gao Wen was persuaded by him: "Okay."
Fang Han smiled and went into the kitchen to get another bowl of white porridge.
After Gao Wen sat down, he placed the white porridge in front of her: "It's okay if you can't finish it. I'm just worried that the soup might be a bit greasy, so this will help you cut through the richness."
"What kind of soup is it?" Gao Wen asked.
Fang Han smiled and kept him in suspense: "Guess?"
"I never cook, so I can't guess," Gao Wen said, but she still played along, holding a spoon and looking at the soup in the bowl. "Pork ribs, dried tangerine peel, white radish, what's this?"
She looked up, her cool eyes meeting Fang Han's with curiosity.
"Green olives," Fang Han replied with a smile.
"I've never had green olive soup before. Is this a new dish you developed today?" Gao Wen said, taking a sip and praising with a bright look in her eyes, "It's delicious, very refreshing and sweet."
My throat feels better now.
"It has a slightly sweet aftertaste," Gao Wen said with a smile, her eyes crinkling. "I like it."
After she finished one bowl, Fang Han served her another.
"You cooked so much today? Is there any left over?"
As Gao Wen spoke, she reached out to take the bowl. She was asleep and had no idea that Fang Han had specially cooked it. In the past, he would prepare the meal before she came back, and he often ate alone. She just thought he loved life.
Fang Han didn't let go, insisting on placing it in front of her, without offering any further explanation: "Hmm."
"I'm so lucky to have such a delicious meal," Gao Wen said with a smile.
After finishing two bowls of soup and half a bowl of porridge, Gao Wen felt much better. She was about to take the bowl to the kitchen when Fang Han reached out and took it from her, saying, "Let me do it."
Gao Wen: "Then I feel so embarrassed."
“It’s okay, you don’t know how to use a dishwasher,” Fang Han said.
"Sure, you can learn it, it's very simple, right?"
"I'll teach you another day," Fang Han said, quickly clearing the dishes and chopsticks into the kitchen.
Gao Wen looked at the time; it was almost midnight.
She just slept for a while, so it shouldn't count as staying up late, right?
When Fang Han came out, Gao Wen was still sitting on the sofa. Compared to her haggard appearance just now, her face now had some color in it.
She took the bag and looked down to retrieve her keys from her keychain: "Senior, I need your help."
“Okay.” Fang Han sat down next to her and agreed without hesitation.
“Here,” Gao Wen handed him the key she had taken off, “I would like to ask you to keep a key for me. If I lose this, it will be a real hassle, and I won’t be able to get in.”
Fang Han looked at the key she was offering, hesitated for a moment, and did not take it immediately.
Will he keep it safe?
"I trust you completely." Gao Wen smiled and handed the keys to him. "Thank you for the soup. I'm going to wash up and rest now. I'll treat you to dinner after I'm done with this busy period."
As Gao Wen spoke, she walked towards the door.
As she reached the door, she remembered something, patted her forehead, and turned to look at Fang Han.
He remained in the same position, not even taking the key out of his hand.
Gao Wen jogged over and took the keys back from Fang Han's hand: "I forgot."
Fang Han watched her unlock the door, then turn back and place the key in his hand again: "Please, goodnight, see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow" is easy to say.
She said the same thing to every member.
After Gao Wen closed the door, Fang Han looked down at the key in his hand, his mind racing.
She said she trusted him completely.
late at night.
Fang Han leaned against the bedside, staring blankly at the key in his hand.
"Ding—" His phone received a message.
Fang Han's thoughts were interrupted, and his brows furrowed slightly.
It's past midnight.
He picked up his phone and saw that it was a message from Gu Shujie.
Upon realizing it was work, he pursed his thin lips even tighter.
Gu Shujie: [I forgot to mention, for the project design review meeting next Monday, please have Wenwen attend. She works nearby, so it's convenient for her to come to the company. Try to get her involved in offline communication as much as possible, and have more face-to-face conversations with her when she comes to the company.]
Fang Han's brows relaxed, and a faint smile even unconsciously appeared at the corners of his lips. He quickly replied: 【Okay】
