Chapter 44 Who are you with at the hotel?

Chapter 44 Who are you with at the hotel?

Inside the hotel.

Fang Han sat on the sofa, his backpack slung over his shoulder. He sat there blankly, his hands rubbing awkwardly on his lap. He didn't dare to look around.

Gao Wen, sitting on the edge of the bed, was in no better shape.

It was raining heavily outside, the roads were so difficult to walk on, and the wind was chilling to the bone. Moreover, the power was out in the neighborhood, and Fang Han had to climb twenty-two floors. How difficult would it be for him to go back?

She couldn't bring herself to stay comfortably in the room and kicked him out.

The room was quiet, thanks to good soundproofing; only the faint sound of rain outside could be heard.

Gao Wen looked down at her phone for a while, then looked up and said, "Um—"

"Huh?" Fang Han came back to his senses.

Gao Wen stood up, took her phone, walked to the sofa, and handed it to Fang Han: "I ordered a ginger tea, would you like something to drink?"

"I'm fine with anything," Fang Han said.

"Would mint and ginger be okay? This is hot," Gao Wen asked.

"Okay." Fang Han nodded and handed the phone back to her.

"Okay." Gao Wen ordered tea, looked out the window at the howling wind, and saw that even in such terrible weather, delivery riders were still taking orders. She tipped them, then put her phone aside, stood up, picked up her bag and purse, and said softly, "Senior, I need to take a shower. If the delivery arrives, could you please take it?"

"Mmm." Fang Han stood up as he spoke, then realized he had overreacted. He pretended to be busy, took out his computer, and walked to the coffee table to turn it on.

Gao Wen took her pajamas and went to the bathroom.

After a while, the sound of water dripping came from inside. Fang Han stared at the computer screen, but his eyes were blank, and he couldn't concentrate on the content at all.

Fang Han took a few deep breaths, walked to the window, and looked outside.

The rain was so heavy that he couldn't see anything. The windows were closed and the air conditioner was on, but he still felt a bit stuffy.

My mind is a mess; I don't know how to get along with Gao Wen.

They've been sharing an apartment for quite some time, but the nature of their relationship is different.

In shared apartments, their living area is the common area, offering little privacy.

While Fang Han was lost in thought outside, Gao Wen inside felt even more embarrassed. After taking a shower, she realized she had forgotten to bring her towel in.

She never uses the hotel towels when she goes to hotels because she thinks they are dirty, so she brings her own towels.

After hesitating for a long time, Gao Wen walked to the door, struggled for a while, and finally opened the door a crack, whispering to the outside, "Senior, are you there?"

"Hmm." Fang Han walked over quickly, slowing down as he approached the bathroom door. "What's wrong?"

"Um—" Gao Wen said quickly with her eyes closed, "I forgot to bring my towel in. Could you look in my bag and get it for me?"

"Okay, just a moment." Fang Han walked to the bedside, found the bag Gao Wen had taken out, opened it, and began frantically rummaging through it.

Gao Wen, feeling a chill in the bathroom, was equally anxious as she waited: "Is there?"

"I'm looking for it." Fang Han saw that it wasn't in the bag, looked at the backpack she had taken out, and asked, "It's not in the bag, is it in the backpack?"

"Look at this." Gao Wen shrank her neck from the cold.

"Mmm." Fang Han opened his backpack, but before he could see the towel, he first saw a set of light pink underwear. Fang Han froze on the spot, his ears turned red, and he didn't know what to do.

"Really?" Gao Wen asked doubtfully. "Did I forget to take it out?"

"Found it." Fang Han pulled the towel out from under the covers and took it to the bathroom.

He was sweating profusely and breathing slightly rapidly after walking just a few steps.

Upon hearing his footsteps, Gao Wen shrank back to the doorway, her slender, fair hand glistening with water droplets as she reached out and waved.

Fang Han stuffed the towel into her hand.

"Thanks."

"Smack."

Before he could finish speaking, the door slammed shut.

Fang Han stared at the closed door, standing there for a long time, his body tense.

Hearing the commotion inside, he turned around, walked back awkwardly, and stood by the window to clear his head.

When Gao Wen opened the door and came out, her hair was wrapped in a towel and she was wearing a long nightgown.

Achoo!

She sneezed as soon as she came out.

Fang Han turned around, his brows furrowing involuntarily: "It's getting cold, you need to keep warm and dry your hair as soon as possible."

"Mm." Gao Wen nodded.

"Knock knock knock—" There was a knock on the door, and a voice from outside said, "Hello, your takeout has arrived."

"They're here," Gao Wen said first. Fang Han walked over, opened the door, and took the bag. "Thank you."

"You're welcome, thank you for the tip, and I hope you enjoy your meal," the delivery driver said with a smile as he left.

Fang Han turned to look at Gao Wen, who was untying the towel from her hair, taking a hairdryer to the bedside, and preparing to sit down and dry her hair.

She's always been like this; it's something she's capable of doing.

If it were him, he would have done the same.

Because the rain is so heavy, people who are still out there working hard to earn money are struggling to make a living.

Fang Han took out the ginger tea, inserted a straw, and went over to give it to Gao Wen.

"Thank you, senior." Gao Wen turned off the hairdryer and looked at him apologetically. "You'll have to wait a while before you can take a shower; the hot water doesn't seem to be very hot anymore."

"It's okay, I still have some work to finish, I'll shower later." Fang Han said, glancing at the bed, and gently arranged, "You sleep on the bed, I'll sleep on the sofa."

Gao Wen sipped her ginger tea and nodded.

She dried her hair and went to bed.

When Gao Wen checked her phone, it was almost ten o'clock.

She should be sleepy at this time of day.

While Fang Han was taking a shower, Gao Wen glanced at the sofa. Although the hotel suite was large, the sofa wasn't very wide. Given Fang Han's height and long legs, he would definitely have to curl up to sleep.

She felt a little guilty sleeping alone in a soft, 1.8-meter-wide bed.

Gao Wen got out of bed, picked up a pillow, and opened the closet.

When Fang Han came out after taking a shower, the first thing he looked at was Gao Wen on the bed. She was lying on the bed with her eyes open, not asleep yet.

The next second, he saw the blankets and pillows laid out on the sofa and was slightly stunned.

"I'm sorry to trouble you tonight, thank you senior." Gao Wen looked embarrassed, then pointed to the light, "I always sleep with the light on, otherwise I get anxious. Do you mind?"

“I don’t mind,” Fang Han said, adding, “Do you need all the lights turned on?”

Gao Wen: "No need, this is fine."

Okay. Go to sleep early.

"good evening."

"good evening."

Gao Wen lay in bed, while Fang Han closed his laptop, returned to the sofa, bent his legs, lay down, and covered himself with the blanket.

Fang Han was facing Gao Wen's bed. She was sleeping with her back to him, and he kept looking at her back. His eyes were gentle, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.

He was always happy whenever he was with her, and his heart was restless, so he couldn't fall asleep at all.

Fang Han was like this, and Gao Wen was even more so.

Hearing that there was no more movement behind her, she could no longer resist and quietly turned over.

As Gao Wen turned over, Fang Han closed his eyes, seemingly drifting off to sleep. In reality, his hands under the covers were clenched slightly, and his back was covered in a thin layer of sweat, showing his intense nervousness.

He didn't open his eyes, but he could feel a burning gaze on him.

Perhaps this is his misconception.

In fact, Gao Wen was indeed looking at him; her "sleeping" face was somewhat dazed.

Despite her seemingly clear-headed nature and clear standards for choosing a partner, Gao Wen is ultimately someone who has never been in a relationship. Her romantic history is so pure that she doesn't even have a history of unrequited love.

She studied hard as a child, taking all sorts of tests. But when she entered high school, her family experienced a change in circumstances. From then on, her goal was to support herself, get into a better school, go to a better platform, and develop herself.

According to a clearly materialistic view of mate selection, one should score potential partners and be able to see all their material conditions.

However, she didn't know how to handle relationships.

All she knew was that being close to Fang Han made her feel very safe. Sometimes she even wanted to get warmth from him because he could always soothe her bad mood and bring her different feelings.

Gao Wen watched the raindrops falling continuously outside the window, and occasionally heard thunder, while the room felt warm and cozy.

Fang Han slept peacefully, exuding a gentle and refined aura.

She was thinking that perhaps she didn't understand herself and didn't know what she wanted at all.

Fang Han might not be unsuitable for her.

"Buzz buzz buzz—" Gao Wen's phone rang, interrupting her thoughts.

She hurriedly answered the phone, and Zhang Ni's voice came from the other end: "Wenwen, the power is out. The roads outside our community are flooded. I heard the power will be out until tomorrow. We're out looking for a hotel now. How are things on your end?"

“We’ve moved to a hotel,” Gao Wen said.

"You guys? Who are you with at the hotel?" Zhang Ni seized on the words.

Gao Wen blushed immediately, her eyes darting around. "I... I shared an apartment with a female roommate."

When she said that, Fang Han on the sofa stirred, and Gao Wenxin jumped up, afraid that he would say something.

However, Fang Han is not that kind of person.

He pulled up the blanket to cover the corners of his mouth that kept turning up.

"Which hotel are you staying at? Do you want to find somewhere to grab a late-night snack? I haven't eaten yet," Zhang Ni said.

Gao Wen dared not let Zhang Ni come.

If it's discovered that she and Fang Han are staying at the same hotel, even ten mouths wouldn't be able to explain it.

The difference between sharing an apartment and living together is just one word.

"We're all going to sleep," Gao Wen mumbled.

"Okay, never mind then." Zhang Ni hung up the phone.

Before Gao Wen could even breathe a sigh of relief, Fang Han's phone rang.

He opened his sleepy eyes, picked up the phone, saw it was Gu Shujie, answered it and put it to his ear.

"You haven't sent me the documents for that suburban project yet," Gu Shujie said on the other end of the line.

"Send it now," Fang Han said.

"I guess your neighborhood is also without power, right? Where is it?" Gu Shujie asked.

"The hotel," Fang Han answered truthfully.

Gu Shujie: "Oh, you went to the hotel too? You're quick on your feet."

Upon hearing this, Gao Wen tensed up, afraid that he would say something that could be misunderstood, even though she knew that Fang Han was a very good person and would never do such a thing.

Fang Han turned down the volume on his phone, and Zhang Ni's voice came through clearly: "Engineer Fang, Wenwen's apartment complex is also without power. She's at a hotel now. It's time for you to show your skills! Don't say I didn't help you."

Upon hearing this, Fang Han immediately hung up the phone.

He looked up and met Gao Wen's curious expression.

Gao Wen, dressed in pajamas, sat on the edge of the bed, her features gentle and delicate. She couldn't hear him clearly, and seeing his overly agitated and helpless state, she noticed he tilted his head slightly, a look of confusion on his exquisite, fair face.
