Chapter 9 Senior—Why aren't you asleep yet?!
Today's private class was leg training, and Zhang Ni was the first to book and the first to arrive.
She arrived at the classroom early and waited there, reluctant to leave after class.
She was enduring the pain, lying on the ground, supporting herself with her hands, and rolling her legs gently on a foam roller. She looked up at Gao Wen and said, "I feel like I'm putting some force into my feet when I walk now, but it's still unstable and I tend to float."
"That's normal. After all, it's been a habit for over twenty years. With more practice, it will solidify and become a new habit, and your leg shape and walking posture will naturally improve." Gao Wen put away the props and replied with a smile.
Zhang Ni nodded vigorously, "Yes, yes." She then smiled and said, "I don't believe others when they say this, but I believe you! I must persevere! For the sake of becoming beautiful!"
“You don’t know, every time I come to the yoga studio and see you, I feel motivated no matter how much pain or fatigue I’m in.”
The next second, Zhang Ni's smile vanished. Gao Wen, holding a foam roller, vigorously massaged her skin while saying, "You need to use a little force for it to be effective. Don't be so good to yourself."
"Ugh—hiss—" Zhang Ni collapsed to the ground in pain, her fists clenched tightly. She cried out in pain, but quickly tried to distract Gao Wen by saying, "I think there's a yoga studio under renovation on the first floor outside, did you know?"
"I didn't notice." Gao Wen spoke much more gently than in class, but her grip remained firm.
In fact, she pays attention to the gyms and yoga studios in this area, as they are close by and convenient for part-time work.
Gao Wen is thoughtful and cautious, and rarely trusts others. Even though Zhang Ni seems simple and innocent, she will not reveal any of her situation or plans.
Zhang Ni's nails dug into her palms, and sweat poured out from the pain. After a while, she said haltingly, "I saw they're hiring yoga teachers there, why don't you go check it out?"
She knew Gao Wen was working part-time, so she kept an eye out for her.
"We'll see. Hurry up and lie on your side. It'll be easier tomorrow if you suffer now." Gao Wen smiled and had Zhang Ni change positions, helping her roll and massage the side of her leg to loosen it.
This time, Zhang Ni was in so much pain that she couldn't speak. When Gao Wen put away the foam roller, she was lying on the ground, panting, like a dead fish.
"Have some water," Gao Wen thoughtfully poured a cup of tea and placed it next to Zhang Ni, then picked up her phone and stood up. "I'm going to the next class."
"...Bye, bye." Zhang Ni forced herself to stay awake; she still needed a while to catch her breath.
When Gao Wen walked next door, she ran into Lin Siyue, who was coming out of there.
She smiled slightly, with just the right amount of politeness.
Lin Siyue glanced at Gao Wen a few times, but didn't say anything sarcastic. Her expression changed several times, but her arrogance remained.
The receptionist came over with a warm smile and handed Lin Siyue a cup of tea: "Have some water and calm down first. Come and rest here for a bit."
Lin Siyue followed the receptionist to the rest area, while Gao Wen went inside to prepare teaching materials for the members.
After the trial class, the next step is to sell the course.
Holding the course schedule and price list, the receptionist first asked Lin Siyue, "How was your experience? Isn't Teacher Mimi very gentle? She's our star teacher, and many members like her."
Lin Siyue held the tea in both hands and sipped it slowly, glancing at the classroom she had just left out of the corner of her eye.
Once all the members had arrived, Gao Wen leaned out halfway, spoke softly to them, and smiled as she reached out to close the door.
Lin Siyue felt very uncomfortable.
This teacher, Mimi, was indeed very gentle, calling her "darling" all the time. During class, she would use two fingers to adjust her posture and then start counting down to make her hold the pose. Lin Siyue felt like she was posing.
It didn't feel like Gao Wen's classes at all.
Gao Wen didn't mind using force to assist her during class and didn't slack off at all. Although it hurt a lot, she did feel a sense of accomplishment from the training.
Moreover, for most of the class, this Mimi would intentionally or unintentionally inquire about her work and family background, give her a physical assessment, and say that she had all sorts of health problems. She called it an experience, but in reality, it was a way to scare her, create anxiety, and trick her into selling courses.
Lin Siyue felt that this class was even more unbearable than the one Gao Wen taught her; it felt like a waste of time, and she could clearly sense that the teacher was just killing time.
It's completely useless! It's insincere!
"Teacher Mimi's private lessons are currently on promotion—"
"Where's Wenwen's private tutor?" Lin Siyue interrupted the receptionist, but immediately regretted it. Why did she still want to take this woman's class?!
She must be crazy!
"Teacher Wenwen?" The receptionist paused for a moment, then said, "She's a part-time teacher; she doesn't offer private lessons."
Private lessons are more profitable than other classes, and with a limited number of members, they certainly won't use part-time instructors. Publicly, they claim that part-time instructors aren't good enough and that they have a responsibility to their members, so they can't just assign anyone.
Upon hearing this, Lin Siyue was shocked to learn that there were no private lessons available. She couldn't even attend one if she wanted to?
"Part-time teachers are not as good as full-time teachers. Teacher Mimi has been teaching for many years. You even took her trial class. Didn't you think she was very gentle?"
The receptionist was still racking her brains to sell her product, but Lin Siyue was getting more and more bored. She asked again, "So what kind of classes does this Wenwen take?"
"We only offer large group classes and small group classes." The receptionist's enthusiasm waned considerably when she realized that Lin Siyue didn't seem interested in enrolling in private lessons.
"I want to take her small group class. When can I come for class tomorrow?" Lin Siyue asked again.
She wanted to see exactly what was different, or if it was just her imagination that made her think this woman was better at class than the others.
The receptionist checked and was also somewhat surprised: "Teacher Wenwen's classes are fully booked this week, and there are no available seats at the moment."
"What? You won't schedule more classes?" Lin Siyue frowned.
She was still unable to attend, and she felt a surge of resentment. How could the classes she didn't want to attend and the people she didn't like be so popular?
“Each teacher has their own schedule, and this week’s classes were arranged in advance by the director,” the receptionist said.
Lin Siyue finally signed up for ten small group classes, and the front desk staff became more friendly again, adding her to the group and assuring her that if any members canceled their appointments for Gao Wen's classes, they would help her book them.
Lin Siyue paid the money and walked out of the yoga studio. Looking at the payment record, she felt depressed again.
She's really crazy; she actually paid to wait in line for their class.
However, Lin Siyue quickly comforted herself, these private classes are universal, she wasn't trying to take Gao Wen's class, if she couldn't book it, she wouldn't book it, she could just take other teachers' classes.
The elevator has arrived.
Lin Siyue stepped into the elevator, and Zhang Ni jogged in as well.
The elevator doors had just closed when Zhang Ni's phone rang. She answered it, her voice sweet and cloying: "Honey~~~~"
Lin Siyue glanced to the side. She remembered this person. During class, she and Gao Wen interacted the most, and their relationship seemed very good.
Hmph! She doesn't like anyone who's close to Gao Wen!
Zhang Ni's voice could still be heard: "get out of class ended a long time ago. The teacher helped me roll over my thighs to loosen up my muscles. I got a free personal trainer treatment, and it hurt so much. Let me tell you, this teacher is very professional and a good person. I've even noticed changes in myself. Don't you believe me? I won't allow you to question me, or I'll be unhappy!"
"Just wait and see how I transform! I'll be training every single day! Anyone who tries to stop me is my enemy!"
A soft chuckle came from the other end of the phone, the voice filled with doting indulgence: "Okay, okay."
The elevator doors opened, and Zhang Ni stepped out first, with Lin Siyue watching her leave.
Or perhaps she could wait and observe Gao Wen further?
Zhang Ni did not go home, but went to a supermarket on the first floor of a nearby building.
It's close to their home, and she needs to buy baby food ingredients for her daughter.
As soon as Zhang Ni arrived at the supermarket, she saw Fang Han pushing a shopping cart full of items. She greeted him warmly and happily, "Engineer Fang?"
She had a very good impression of her husband's junior from university. He had entered a big company at a young age, was humble and polite, and had a bright future.
Fang Han smiled and pursed his lips: "Sister-in-law."
"Didn't you move out of your parents' house and live alone? Why did you buy so much stuff?"
"......"

night.
Before going home, Gao Wen bought fruit at the fruit shop downstairs in her apartment complex.
Fang Han paid for the flowers for her, but she was afraid he wouldn't accept them, so she transferred the money to his Alipay account. He had been busy for a while last night and even treated her to a low-fat meal.
She will definitely treat Fang Han to a meal, but it has to be on the weekend. When the kids are on holiday, there will be fewer people at the yoga studio and fewer classes. She'll just buy him some fruit first.
When Gao Wen returned, the living room was dark and quiet.
That's how it is with sharing an apartment; if you don't know the person, you might not see them for months at a time.
Gao Wen walked to the second bedroom and knocked on the door: "Senior?"
"Snap—"
The door opened, and Fang Han, dressed in pajamas, looked at her with gentle eyes. He seemed quite happy to see her, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but turn up: "Off work?"
"Mm." Gao Wen nodded.
Fang Han: "Have you eaten?"
"I ate oatmeal and bread," Gao Wen replied, picking up the bag as she spoke. "You worked hard last night, so I bought you some cherries. They're already washed, so eat as many as you like while they're fresh."
She has a very picky palate, and since it was a gift, she specifically bought the most expensive imported cherries, which would be crisper and more refreshing.
Fang Han looked at the cherries in her hand and said helplessly, "Don't be so polite."
"Of course." Gao Wen handed him the cherry, turned and walked towards her room, yawning, "I'm going to wash up and go to bed now, goodnight."
She's very busy every day, but luckily she manages to find time for self-training so she can take a shower, do her skincare routine, and go to sleep when she gets back.
"Goodnight," Fang Han said gently from behind her.
He didn't eat the cherries; instead, he carried them to the kitchen refrigerator, opened it, and put them inside.
The once empty refrigerator is now completely filled.
Fang Han made a special space for the cherry, carefully placing it inside. A slight smile appeared on his lips, and a hint of pleasure shone in his eyes.
Gao Wen, who had just finished washing up and taking care of her skin, was about to fall asleep when she noticed that there were 99+ messages in the dormitory group chat. She glanced at it, and her sleepiness was immediately dispelled.
My roommates are all talking about their theses.
During the holiday, the supervisor had already instructed us to prepare our thesis topics. Everyone was required to determine their topics before the start of the semester and then submit the first draft of their thesis proposal defense.
Gao Wen sat up abruptly; she had been so busy that she had forgotten about it.
While her roommates were already deciding on preliminary topics, she hadn't even started.
That's terrible.
Gao Wen scratched her head, no longer sleepy, and got out of bed to turn on her computer and look for information.
Midnight.
Gao Wen lost count of how many times she had yawned. Her eyelids felt like they were filled with lead, drooping continuously, and her voice was weak and feeble: "Help—"
Really, it's life-saving.
Someone please save her.
Unlike Fang Han, who was admitted with high scores, Gao Wen barely made it into A University and was even assigned to a major she didn't like. It's already quite an achievement that she has managed to maintain an average level for the past few years.
The thesis really stumped her; the road ahead was long and arduous, and the literature seemed like an incomprehensible book.
No one can save her.
Gao Wen forced herself to stand up, shook her head, and was about to slap her face to clear her mind, but stopped halfway through.
Her hands were dirty and full of bacteria. She applied skincare products, but no, no, that won't work.
Gao Wen got up, grabbed her laptop and water glass, and went outside.
She reached out and turned on the light, making the living room lights even brighter, which made her feel a little better.
Gao Wen got some water and paced back and forth in the living room. She took a sip of water, found it tasteless, and couldn't drink it.
She looked up and sighed again, then forced herself to sit in the chair, facing the incomprehensible text on the computer.
Fang Han didn't sleep either. He tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep, his mind filled with Gao Wen's image.
Hearing her open the door, he hesitated to close it and go back to his room.
He thought for a moment, picked up his water glass, opened the door, and went out.
As soon as Fang Han came out, he saw Gao Wen sitting at the dining table. She looked up at him when she heard the noise.
Her eyes were unfocused and tired. She didn't speak, then slowly turned her head back, her forehead hitting the computer again. Her body slumped down, as if she were surrendering to gravity.
A moment later, Gao Wen's trembling voice echoed in the living room: "Senior—why aren't you asleep yet—"
Is the bed too comfortable for you to sleep?
Unlike her.
