water tank

Peng Feizhe seemed not to hear her words; the emotions in his eyes were consumed by desire. She retreated while he approached, her fate uncertain.

"General! Please wake up." She was still struggling, pushing against his shoulders with both hands. I wonder if she regretted her decision.

He squinted, his gaze fixed on Li Xingxiao, whose appearance was not particularly appealing. Yet, he inexplicably smelled a strange fragrance that seemed to arouse his desire.

He tried to restrain himself from getting any closer to her, but he couldn't control himself. He was genuinely curious why the fragrance was emanating from a man. He felt unbearably hot all over, like a person walking in the desert, his mouth parched and desperately seeking water to satisfy his needs.

As she retreated, she quickly glanced at the woman, her eyes filled with a will to survive and an anxiety for her rescue.

Just as Li Xingxiao was about to be cornered against the wall of the small house, the woman quickly pressed herself against him, her delicate white hand holding his right hand.

"General, I'm here~" she called out sweetly.

His hand, which had been pulled, suddenly felt comfortable, and his burning body felt as if it had touched the water he longed for. He turned his head to look at her, and it seemed that he had regained his senses.

His brows were furrowed tightly, his face contorted with rage, and he snapped, "Get out of my way!"

He then abruptly pulled his hand back, pushed the woman to the ground, and turned to face Li Xingxiao.

His right hand, veins bulging, gripped Li Xingxiao's neck with clearly defined knuckles, the pressure increasing steadily. Her almond-shaped eyes were filled with terror as he pressed her against the wall.

Peng Feizhe, still retaining some semblance of rationality, glared at her and demanded angrily, "Where is the antidote!"

She couldn't breathe at all; his hand was gripping her tightly. She struggled desperately, pounding his hand against hers. Her face was pale as she looked at him. How was she supposed to speak? He had completely blocked her from saying a word. How could she possibly ask where the antidote was?

She wanted to free herself from those shackle-like hands as quickly as possible. Instead of pounding on his hands to conserve her strength, she looked around, searching for something that could save her life. It was an instinctive will to survive; she didn't want to die yet.

She then caught sight of a water vat, which she used to wash things, and then glanced at Peng Feizhe, who looked like a wild beast.

"I'm asking you! The antidote..." His eyes were sharp, his face dark, and his patience had run out.

She raised her hand and pointed to the water vat, and he looked in that direction. He loosened his grip slightly, but still wasn't going to let her go, grabbing her collar and dragging her away fiercely.

As they walked towards the water vat, Li Xingxiao finally let out a sigh of relief, her expression gradually softening. But before she could catch her breath, she was forcibly dragged along again, her heart filled with anger, her face revealing her reluctance.

She couldn't bear to force a smile anymore. All her efforts to please this man only brought her more murderous intent, suspicion, and stalking. She'd had enough! She'd never suffered such humiliation before.

Peng Feizhe opened the wooden lid of the water vat, only to find it empty except for water. Water reflecting the crescent moon! He was even angrier and turned to confront her.

As soon as he looked over, the boy had somehow managed to free him from his restraints while he was off guard.

Before he could react, a sharp pain shot through his head as she gripped his hair tightly. With a sudden burst of strength, she slammed Peng Feizhe's head down into the water vat!

The woman sitting on the ground was stunned. How dare he? This was a major general!

She stared in astonishment at Li Xingxiao, who was filled with anger. Peng Feizhe's head was being pushed into the water vat, and he struggled to break free from her grasp. The water vat splashed water everywhere.

Li Xingxiao's anger subsided considerably, and she loosened her grip on his head. Peng Feizhe quickly lifted his head from the water tank. He gasped for breath, turned to glare at her, his hair wet and disheveled. He was about to say something.

His head was forcibly pushed back down; he had only just caught his breath! He had only one thought in his mind.

I will definitely kill you!

He braced himself against the rim of the vat with both hands, then pulled one hand out and grabbed hers tightly with considerable force. Li Xingxiao winced in pain and quickly tried to break free of his grip.

After breaking free from his grasp, she frowned and took a small step back. She saw Peng Feizhe lift his head out of the water tank, slump weakly to the ground, and spit out the water from his mouth and nose, clearly having nearly drowned.

He paused, brushed aside the damp bangs that were obscuring his vision, and looked at Li Xingxiao with eyes that seemed to want to devour her.

How could she not see the emotion in his eyes? He wanted to tear her to pieces!

She hurriedly tried to kill him as he stood up, feigning concern: "General! This is the antidote. Are you feeling better now?"

A dangerous smile crept across his face as he listened. He wiped the water from his lips, a hint of madness mixed with menace in his expression, and sneered, "Oh? The antidote?"

She sensed the danger emanating from this person growing stronger, and she was truly blinded by impulse when she forced the person's head in.

She quickly and pleaded for mercy in a gentle voice, "General! Don't kill me! I'm really trying to help you." She clasped her hands together in prayer.

Peng Feizhe was a vengeful man. A smirk appeared on his lips, his eyes were fierce, and his voice was cold and filled with murderous intent: "Help me? Come here."

He temporarily put aside the thought of killing her; all he wanted now was to drown this guy. He stood up, his face dark, looking at her with a half-smile, waiting for her to come closer.

She was still a little scared, but she agreed: "...Oh...Oh...Okay." She walked over and stood in front of the water tank.

"General, I..." Before she could finish speaking, a large hand shoved her head into the water vat, splashing water all over the surface. She struggled violently, as if the hand wanted to shove her whole body in.

She gripped his hands tightly, which were holding her down, and kept pounding on his large wrists, trying to fight for her life.

We're really going to drown in this tank!

He remained silent, watching her struggles gradually weaken and the force of her movements diminish. He knew she was about to die.

He withdrew his hand from hers, and Li Xingxiao felt that there was no longer a hand pressing down on the back of her head. She quickly got up and gasped for breath.

She collapsed to the ground, she was really hovering on the edge of death, the feeling was so painful and suffocating.

Many wet, stray hairs fell across her forehead. She looked up at the man with hatred in her eyes, while Peng Feizhe looked down at her. His gaze, a mixture of amusement and pity, displeased her. Hatred for someone is impossible to hide; she truly wished this man dead!

He glanced arrogantly at the person on the ground, only slightly furrowing his brow in confusion, and asked, "You... how did you lose your teeth?"

After hearing this, she realized something was wrong, raised her hand to touch her mouth, and found that both of her molars were gone. They were probably knocked out from struggling too much while being submerged in water, or perhaps there wasn't enough adhesive.

She froze, her hatred gradually replaced by guilt: "Huh? My teeth..." She didn't know how to make up an excuse.

His face was grave, his arms crossed, and he uttered a hesitant "Hmm?"

"I guess I just... accidentally bumped the rim of the vat..." she said humbly.

He scoffed, "Fine, fine!" and said this with a gloomy expression.

He seemed to understand something, and his words were full of displeasure: "I understand now."

His dark eyes were filled with the rage of being mocked, and he shouted, "Someone come here!"

Then, Peng Feizhe sat down on a chair in the courtyard, now wearing a white overcoat. He looked at the two kneeling people in front of him; Li Xingxiao, without her two prominent teeth, looked rather delicate, and the other was the woman. Each of them was flanked by a sword-wielding shadow guard, and neither dared to make any sudden movements.

"Tell me, who sent you?" he scrutinized the two men.

Li Xingxiao trembled and dared not say anything. The woman glanced at her and hesitated.

"Speak!" he snapped.

She said, "I came by myself."

He looked at the other person: "And you?"

The woman was so intimidated by his imposing presence that she didn't know what to say. Her lips moved, and she whispered, "Master...send..."

"What?" He couldn't quite hear him and was quite annoyed.

Li Xingxiao quickly covered for her, saying, "She was sent by Miss Pang..."

"?" He was skeptical.

"Her name is Qin Shu, and she is Miss Pang's maid."

"You two know each other?"

"know."

"What are you here for?" he asked, puzzled.

She was about to say something.

He suddenly looked at the two kneeling figures as if he had just realized something, and then sneered, "What? Before even marrying your young lady, she's already testing her husband?"

"..." The woman didn't know what to say, after all, it was her master's request, and she had no choice.

It wasn't really a test; it was just a way to make him bear the guilt of having an affair before marriage, so he could complain to the emperor and have the engagement annulled.

"No..." she was about to say something.

"I didn't tell you to speak!" Peng Feizhe's stern rebuke silenced her.

Qin Shu began to feel afraid, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at him with a pitiful expression, "This servant...doesn't know...it was Master who made this servant do it."

She was so frightened that she forgot the person next to her was her master, and she completely forgot what her master had told her beforehand.

He was somewhat bored, and after pondering for a moment while stroking his chin, he said indifferently, "Get up, and when you return to your master's side, tell him... Miss Pang, you don't need to worry that I am that kind of person. Since His Majesty has issued the imperial decree, I will certainly not let Miss Pang down."

"..." She listened, her lips twitching and speechless.

“Okay…” Qin Shu stood up and stared blankly at Li Xingxiao, who was still on the ground. Peng Feizhe noticed her gaze.

"What? Is he going back too?"

She quickly shook her head, "No, no, no, I just wanted to catch up with... Brother Xingxiao again."

"...!!" She shuddered like a startled cat. She could already feel his piercing gaze. She didn't understand why Qin Shu would say such a thing out of the blue.

"Ah...haha...may you rest in peace, Sister Qin Shu...please give my regards to my master..." she said with a forced smile.

"Mm." Qin Shu nodded.

"You, take her back." He glanced at the shadow guard beside him, giving him a meaningful look.

"Yes, sir." The shadow guard accepted the order, turned around, and led Qin Shu away.

Now there are only three people left: him, her, and a shadow guard with a sword.

He looked at the disheveled Li Xingxiao with amusement, his voice slightly deep, "Do you... want to go back?"

She lowered her eyes, not daring to look at him. She shook her head and bit her lip. "Going back will only mean death, so I might as well die at the hands of the general."

He drew out his words with an ambiguous tone, sounding as if he were doing a good deed: "Oh~, since you've said so, then I'll become you." He reached out to the shadow guard beside her, clearly indicating that he was gesturing for her to bring him the sword.

The shadow guard understood and handed her the sword, which startled her.

"Sound—" The sound of a sword being drawn pierced her ears like thunder.

She hurriedly kowtowed, "General! I was wrong! I was wrong!"

"Are you a woman?" He glanced at the gleaming sword in his hand, the blade reflecting half of his delicate face.

"Huh?" Caught off guard by his unexpected question, I didn't know how to answer.

"Are you a woman?"

She immediately denied it: "No! General, I am a man."

His expression was calm as he slammed his longsword into the ground, a cold glint flashing in his dark eyes: "How do you prove it?"

Li Xingxiao stared at the spot where the sword had been inserted, her head bowed, not daring to utter a sound.

"What? Are you mute?" He was a little annoyed when he saw that she didn't answer him.
