Chapter 14 The woman is not weak, the news of death spreads in various families
After the dumb figure completely disappeared, Jiang Ning began to look around.
Faking the scene has always been her specialty. In the modern era with so many high-tech detection techniques, she can disappear without leaving any clues after killing someone, not to mention in the ancient times where only human eyes can be relied on.
Jiang Ning spent a few minutes to wipe off the dragging marks, cover up her footprints by the pond, and move He Wen's body to make sure everything looks seamless.
Then, Jiang Ning looked at the scattered sweet potatoes and easily guessed that they should belong to the dumb woman.
It's definitely not okay to stay here, it seems I have no choice but to take it back and treat it as a side dish.
Jiang Ning's mind moved, and the sweet potatoes in her hand disappeared. She closed her eyes and felt it for a while, and she knew that these sweet potatoes were put into that space and were piled in a corner of the bamboo house.
It's pretty good, and it's still a portable storage box. Jiang Ning was more and more satisfied with this space.
After making sure that everything was handled cleanly, Jiang Ning herself entered the space and left the place without anyone noticing, leaving only He Wen's body lying quietly by the pond. Jiang
Ning returned home, went into the house first to check on Liu Mingan, and found that he was not awake yet. She took the sweet potatoes out of the space and put them in the kitchen, and poured the two buckets of water that Liu Mingan brought back into the vat. After doing all this, she came to the bed again.
It should be three o'clock in the afternoon. The villagers had finished their lunch break. Jiang Ning heard the sound of workers outside and her eyes moved.
If nothing unexpected happens, someone will find He Wen's body soon. But all this has nothing to do with her.
Liu Ming'an woke up half an hour later. He just opened his eyes and his mind was still dizzy and he couldn't figure out the situation for a while.
"Are you awake? How do you feel? Are you feeling uncomfortable?" A
clear and cold female voice sounded beside him. Liu Ming'an turned his head and found that Jiang Ning had moved a stool and sat beside the bed, holding his "Book of Rites" in her hand, and was looking at him expressionlessly. As his
thoughts returned, Liu Ming'an remembered what happened before he fainted, and then thought of Jiang Ning's question just now. Although it was cold, it was also a kind of concern.
Liu Ming'an felt warm in his heart and replied with a smile: "Except for a headache and dizziness, I don't feel uncomfortable."
This result was expected by Jiang Ning. She nodded and replied: "That's good."
Liu Ming'an didn't know what he thought of. His face suddenly changed. He asked nervously: "After I fainted, did that man cause you any trouble?"
He remembered that He Wen wanted to go into the house to see Jiang Ning. That man was shameless and lustful. If he saw the young and beautiful Jiang Ning, he would definitely pester her. He was afraid that Jiang Ning would be bullied.
Fortunately, Jiang Ning said: "No, he left directly."
Liu Ming'an breathed a sigh of relief and felt relieved. But then another question came to his mind: "Didn't I faint outside? How did I end up in bed?"
Jiang Ning looked at him speechlessly. There were only the two of them here, and she couldn't ask anyone else for help. Wasn't the answer obvious?
"I carried you back." Jiang Ning said.
Liu Ming'an's eyes widened unconsciously, with a look of disbelief on his face. He was a seven-foot man, and Jiang Ning was a slender and weak woman. How was this possible?
Seeing his expression, Jiang Ning knew that he didn't believe it, and secretly complained in her heart, "Annoying", put down the "Book of Rites" in her hand, lifted the quilt on him, and like before, used a princess hug to steadily pick him up from the bed.
Liu Ming'an nestled stiffly in Jiang Ning's arms, with his head resting on her shoulder, and the whole person looked like he was struck by lightning.
Jiang Ning picked him up. This fact had a big impact on him.
"Do you believe it now?" Jiang Ning lowered her head slightly, looked at Liu Ming'an and asked, "How about I hold you and turn around again?"
Liu Ming'an blinked in panic, and his face turned red all the way to his ears. He said incoherently, "I believe it, I believe it, I believe it, no need, I believe it."
Jiang Ning nodded with satisfaction and put him back on the bed. She was very gentle for fear of hitting his wound.
Liu Ming'an quickly turned his back to Jiang Ning. He felt that his whole face was hot, and some unknown emotions spread in his heart.
Jiang Ning picked up the book again and flipped through it as if nothing had happened. The reason why she did this was simply to tell Liu Ming'an not to regard her as the weak woman he thought she was. She was not a delicate girl.
"Thank you."
After a while, the person on the bed said in a low voice, but the voice sounded a little awkward.
Thank you for what? Thank her for carrying him in?
Jiang Ning moved her eyes away from the pages of the book, looking at Liu Ming'an's red earlobes exposed outside. Regarding his innocent boy's behavior, she didn't know what to say for a moment.
"Oh no! Oh no! Someone's dead!"
A man's shouting suddenly came from outside the house. He seemed very anxious, and his voice sounded a little hoarse, probably because he shouted too much.
Liu Ming'an recognized that it was the voice of the village chief. He didn't care about the embarrassment and turned over and got up from the bed.
"Jiang Ning, I'll go see what happened. You stay home and don't go out."
Liu Ming'an's face was still a little red, and he didn't dare to look directly at Jiang Ning. After quickly reminding her, he saw her nod and immediately walked out in two steps.
Jiang Ning stood up and looked out the window. An old man was running back and forth outside, shouting at the top of his voice. When Liu Mingan went out, the old man immediately grabbed his hand and said something excitedly, pointing in the direction of the pond.
Jiang Ning retracted her gaze indifferently, sat on the bed, and concentrated on reading.
Liu Mingan was caught by the village chief as soon as he came out. The old man was shouting all the way and was already panting.
"Mingan, someone is dead! Someone is dead in the village! Just by the pond, they have all gone there, hurry up, go, you also go and think of a solution together."
Liu Mingan's home is on the edge of the village, so he was the last one to be notified. After
the village chief finished speaking, without waiting for him to react, he pulled him and rushed to the pond.
"Village chief, you are old, slow down." Liu Mingan advised kindly.
The village chief walked hurriedly, sighing, "We can't wait. Zhuzi has already reported to the authorities. The official will be here soon on horseback. Everyone in our village must stand there and wait."
Liu Ming'an agreed with this approach. The laws of Daliang stipulated that if an unidentified corpse was found, it must not be moved rashly. It must be reported to the authorities, and the official will examine the cause of death and register it.
"Who is the dead person?" Liu Ming'an asked curiously.
The village chief looked worried, sighed heavily, and said, "Well, you'll know when you get there. It's just ahead."
After walking a few dozen steps, Liu Ming'an looked forward and saw dozens of people, young and old, gathered around the pond. They were talking in low voices, and the sound of women sobbing was mixed in.
