The old man's face was unremarkable, quite ordinary and unremarkable. This somewhat shattered Yun Nuan's perception of the Qin family; judging by Qin Yan's good looks, the Qin family's genes should be quite good.
But then she thought of Uncle Qin, whom she had met at the last banquet. There wasn't much of a memory of him, except for his flashy suit. Could it be that Qin Yan had won the genetic lottery?
"Is it your son who's in jail?" she asked uncertainly, ignoring what Old Master Qin had just said and watching his face to see if he recognized any trace of the Qin family.
Old Master Qin tightened his grip on his cane slightly. Zhang Haiyue had been sent to make tea, leaving only the two of them in the living room, with the bodyguards standing guard at the door.
His temples twitched, and he replied coldly, "He only made a small mistake. You haven't answered me yet. I want you to leave Qin Yan."
Yun Nuan interrupted him again and asked, "So you're cheating on me?"
Old Master Qin gritted his teeth and replied coldly, "This is not something you should be concerned about. Just answer me whether you can do it or not."
Yun Nuan: "So you have an illegitimate child, which is why you abandoned your son who is in prison?"
Old Master Qin slammed his cane on the ground in anger. "Enough! Can't you talk to people? I wasn't joking with you."
Yun Nuan clutched her heart. His voice suddenly grew louder, and then the cane struck the ground with a heavy, deep sound, making her heart ache.
When Old Master Qin saw her movements, his heart skipped a beat. Had he frightened her and caused a relapse? He had investigated Yun Nuan and naturally knew what illness she had.
He put away his cane and asked hesitantly, "Are you...are you alright?" His voice sounded strange and awkward, and his old face was stiff.
Yun Nuan paused for a moment before lowering her hand. Seeing that she ignored him, Old Master Qin, still angry, sternly called out towards the kitchen.
"What are you dawdling about? Why isn't the tea served yet?"
Zhang Haiyue, who volunteered to please the old man today, didn't expect that she would have to make tea for that woman outside. She was so angry that her face twisted.
"Coming, coming." She composed herself and replied in a measured tone.
A moment later she came out carrying two cups of hot tea, smiling and muttering a soft complaint.
"Oh dear, this tea is a little hot, so it took a little longer. Please don't be upset, come and have some tea."
She was affected and pretentious in front of the old man, but she just rolled her eyes at Yun Nuan. With a "bang," a lot of tea was splashed out. The old man Qin wanted to angrily hit his cane when he saw her actions, but he was afraid that she would clutch her heart again and not be able to take it.
He roared directly.
"I told you to prepare hot water, why did you prepare tea? Go back and pour it again."
Yun Nuan couldn't drink tea, and he forgot to tell Zhang Haiyue beforehand. But since it wasn't his fault in front of outsiders, it could only be Zhang Haiyue's fault.
Zhang Haiyue wanted to explain, but before she could speak, the old man glared at her.
"What are you dawdling for? Hurry up and go!"
For the first time, she couldn't control her emotions and stomped her feet at the old man before storming off indignantly. A little while later, she brought back a cup of hot water.
"Drink it."
The old man spoke again, "What kind of attitude is this? If you're not going to speak properly, then get out of here right now!"
Zhang Haiyue's chest heaved with anger, her lips moving repeatedly as she held her breath. She wanted to lash out, but she had finally managed to get on the old man's good side, so she forced a smile at Yun Nuan, her neck contorted.
"Miss Yun, please drink slowly."
Grandpa Qin didn't want her to bother him any longer, so he waved for her to leave, and she quickly turned and left.
"I have made it clear to you repeatedly that I am here today: leave Qin Yan, and name your terms."
He finally brought the topic back on track, looking at Yun Nuan's expression, afraid she might clutch her heart again. However, she didn't react much, looking at him calmly.
"Any conditions are acceptable"?
When Old Master Qin heard her ask, he seemed to have finally found his home turf, and a smug look appeared on his face.
"Say whatever you want." He was thinking that the Yun family was a small, insignificant family; what could they possibly ask for? If needed, helping them out wouldn't be out of the question.
"Or, how about I give you ten million?" Yun Nuan had been silent for too long, and he couldn't help but make the suggestion.
"Oh?" Her expression turned curious. This scene was exactly the same as the TV show she watched. The male lead's family was not satisfied with the female lead, so they gave her money to leave.
Now that I've actually encountered something like this myself, no wonder they say art imitates life; it's absolutely true.
"Only ten million?" she asked dismissively, then added...
"But Qin Yan spent more than ten million on me. You have to offer a higher price to entice me."
Zhang Haiyue, who was eavesdropping, couldn't help but want to scream "Ten million!"
That's ten million! Old Master Qin only gives himself two hundred thousand a month, yet he gave Yun Nuan ten million in one go!
She gripped the door frame, her jealousy making her unrecognizable. Qin Yan had given her more than ten million!
Old Master Qin slammed his hand back onto the table with a "bang," almost standing up.
"Qin Yan spent so much money on you!"
Yun Nuan was puzzled. Wasn't the Qin family very wealthy? Was this strange? She thought a family like this should be rich, but looking at Old Master Qin, she felt that he might be a little... poor.
She thought about it for a moment and realized that Qin Yan was really rich. He would swipe his cards for her without batting an eye, and new clothes would always be sent to her first, regardless of whether she could wear them or not.
"Don't you have any money?" she asked innocently, unaware that her words struck a nerve with Old Master Qin. He didn't own many shares, but the dividends he received over the years were enough for him to live on for a lifetime.
But when Uncle Qin was around, he often came to him to borrow money, and he also contributed to the cost of the land he acquired.
His mistresses and the sons he kept outside cost him several million a month, and taking out ten million has been painful for him for a long time.
Blame it on Uncle Qin the Second, that spendthrift son. Not only could he not beat Qin Yan, but he also couldn't pay back his money, and now he's in jail.
He awkwardly picked up the teacup, which was now quite wet, and mumbled a reply.
"How could that be? Do I look like that kind of person? You can say whatever you want."
Yun Nuan looked at him with some disbelief for a few moments before finally speaking.
"Thirty million. If you give me thirty million, I can accept your offer."
Old Master Qin immediately put down his teacup. "Really?"
She nodded. "Really."
He quickly considered whether this deal was worthwhile. If Yun Nuan left, he could introduce her to a friend's granddaughter. Then, with the two of them together, and the friend's granddaughter mediating, Qin Yan would definitely be filial to him.
He felt he had made a good plan, wiped his mouth with a handkerchief, and sneered.
"I thought you were so high and mighty, but you compromised over a mere 30 million. I hope you keep your word."
Yun Nuan interrupted him, "However, I have one request. When you transfer the money, please add a note saying it's a voluntary gift. I don't want you to try to get it back later using other methods."
Old Master Qin waved his hand dismissively, saying it was no big deal and that the Qin family still had some manners. Seeing that she was worried, he had someone write it down in front of her.
Zhang Haiyue was practically grinding her teeth to powder. That was thirty million! How dare Yun Nuan ask for such an exorbitant sum?
