"Can't you let President Qin show off a little? In the past, which of those celebrities and socialites didn't want to get close to our President Qin? How many of them were rejected? Look at President Qin today, swaggering around and bringing people to the company."
They're probably in deep trouble.
Cindy stroked her chin, analyzing the situation discreetly.
The door to the president's office opened not far away, and everyone reacted quickly, picking up the reports or documents in front of them and pretending to read them.
Qin Yan was fully aware of their actions, but since it was rest time, he couldn't interfere.
He was carrying a thermos to get some hot water when Julie saw him and quickly stepped forward to speak.
"Mr. Qin, do you need hot water? We'll help you. Please let us know if you need anything else."
Qin Yan, who didn't want to bother them too much, hesitated before extending his thermos cup upon seeing their excited expressions, and then instructed them...
"Please don't make it too hot, thank you for your help."
Julie smiled calmly and waved her hand, saying, "No trouble at all, I'll take it in for you later."
After Qin Yan closed the door, Julie winked at Cindy and, a step ahead of Cindy, swaggered off to the break room with her thermos.
Cindy watched her retreating figure, then snorted and sat back down in her seat.
Yun Nuan looked at Qin Yan, who came in empty-handed, and turned her head to look behind him.
"Didn't you go to get water? Where's the water?"
He helplessly spread his hands and replied, "The secretary's office went to pick me up, I didn't have a chance." The smile in his eyes was too obvious, and he kept looking at her, his peach blossom eyes full of affection.
The food on the table was already prepared, but its color was pale. Paired with the medicinal soup that Aunt Lan had cooked next to her, it was simply tasteless. She wanted to eat a lot of things: sweet popcorn, sticky rice that clung to her hands and face, and warm taro milk tea held in her palms.
The dishes in front of Qin Yan weren't much better than hers. He was a grown man, but he was practically a herbivore. Apart from the soup with a bit of meat on it, everything else in front of him was no different from hers.
He ate whatever she ate, and over the months, Yun Nuan gained a little weight, while he lost a lot. If it weren't for his daily exercise routine, his body wouldn't have been able to withstand such a diet.
Her eyes were somewhat dim, and her hand holding the chopsticks unconsciously picked at them. There was a knock at the door, and Julie pushed it open and came in a moment later.
She held a thermos in one hand and a plate filled with fruit in the other.
Yun Nuan wanted to get up to take it, but she was a step too slow for Qin Yan, who got up and took it from her. She then spoke to Julie.
"Thanks for your hard work."
Yun Nuan also spoke up, "Thank you."
Upon hearing Yun Nuan speak, Julie's previously restrained smile instantly became genuine, and she inwardly exclaimed...
"Wow, the doll is talking! And the doll's voice is so nice!"
She waved her hands, saying, "It's no trouble at all, just let me know if you need anything." After saying that, she quickly introduced herself to Yun Nuan.
"Hello, Miss Yun. My name is Julie. I'm in the secretary's office outside, ready to serve you at any time."
Julie met her eyes, large and bright, like those of a newborn baby, their depths crystal clear. She couldn't help but cover her mouth; she understood why President Qin had fallen for her.
Even a woman like her can't stand being looked at like that.
"Really? Thank you so much! Would you like to have dinner together?" Yun Nuan extended a sincere invitation. Julie met President Qin's sharp eyes, and her gaze began to dart away. On one side was the beautiful and charming future boss, and on the other was her boss who controlled her year-end bonus.
She declined with tears in her eyes and left the office with a graceful air. Yun Nuan's eyes held a hint of regret, which Qin Yan caught red-handed, and he scoffed.
"What, you're reluctant to part with me? Don't you want to have dinner with me?"
She lowered her head somewhat guiltily, "No, you're overthinking it. Come sit down and eat." Qin Yan sat down unhappily, but his actions betrayed his true intentions as he began to prepare the medicinal meal for her.
She picked up a spoon and began to drink the medicinal soup. Qin Yan sat opposite her, occasionally putting food in her bowl to signal her to eat. She slowly picked up her chopsticks and took the food, which tasted bland.
Qin Yan ate without changing his expression, seemingly unaware that there was anything wrong with the dishes.
Qin Yan took a tissue from the side and gently dabbed it at her lips, where there was something stuck. His face was calm and expressionless, but his eyes were very serious.
"What are you thinking about? Once you're better, you can eat whatever you want. This is just temporary, so eat up and get some rest later."
Her emotions were instantly dispelled by Qin Yan, who firmly believed that she would get better one day.
After dinner, Qin Yan took her to the lounge. Actually, the layout of Qin Yan's office was almost the same as his study at home, and it suited the aesthetics of an office worker.
Behind a hidden door in the lounge, everything is readily available and well-lit, with a floor-to-ceiling bay window.
The bedding had been changed to a coral fleece blanket, and the ones that had been removed and placed on the cabinet were probably the ones Qin Yan had used before.
"Then what will you do?" she asked after looking around. There was only one 1.8-meter bed, and no extra one. If she slept, Qin Yan wouldn't be able to rest.
He took a set of pajamas out of the closet, one that he had never worn, and handed it to her.
"I'm not going to sleep, I still have work to finish."
She disagreed, saying, "How can that be? You're not resting during your break time! How about you rest first, and I'll sleep after you go to work?"
She looked up at him and suggested that Qin Yan place his large hand on her head and rub it, telling her to rest first, as she was prone to getting a fever if she sat still.
"How could you be so silly? Do you need me to read you a story if you can't sleep?"
Yun Nuan slapped his hand away, not with much force. Qin Yan wisely withdrew his hand, and said regretfully.
"Alright, it seems you don't need it. I'll be right outside. Come find me when you wake up. Don't worry about whether I need rest or not. I'm the boss, and no one can enslave me, you know?"
She grabbed her pajamas, turned, and headed towards the bathroom, replying coldly.
"Okay."
Qin Yan glanced at the time, then turned and left, closing the door behind him. After tidying up the things on the desk and putting her backpack away, he sat down at his desk and began working.
He has been suppressing the Yun family recently. Yun Shanhe's unscrupulous methods in the business world have already caused dissatisfaction, so everyone is more or less making small moves in secret.
Yun Shanhe, on the other hand, had no idea and thought it was just normal business competition. Recently, he has been receiving more and more messages from Zhou Yue, as if she were checking up on him. If he didn't reply to her messages, she would call him frantically.
If Yunshanhe doesn't answer, then the call will go to the secretary, preventing the business partners from making any calls.
He was so angry that he berated Zhou Yue, but no one knew that Zhou Yue would come directly to where he was on a business trip the next day. At that time, he was rushing to attend a banquet, hoping to make connections with the Lin family in Kyoto at the banquet.
After that, if the Yun family wanted to expand into Kyoto, wouldn't that be a piece of cake?
As soon as he arrived at the underground parking lot of the banquet, Zhou Yue blocked his car. She smiled like a ghost and stared at Yun Shanhe through the car window.
