Chapter 10 The Little White-Eyed Wolf

As soon as everyone left, just as Yun Nuan had expected, a crackling sound spread, and the next second, she was back at the bench in the city center.

She looked around anxiously, but the food on the stone table was gone—the hot food and the milk tea she hadn't had a chance to drink were all gone!

She stood there helplessly, and the tears she had been holding back finally streamed down her face, one after another.

She bit her lip until it turned red from being so pale, and she felt her heart start to ache again, along with a sharp pain in her stomach.

She felt so angry she was in so much pain that her fists were clenched tightly.

A black car drove through the noisy city center. Because of its prestigious logo, many other cars didn't dare to get too close and could only follow behind at a distance.

Qin Yan's dark eyes were filled with weariness. He had just visited some people at the old mansion today. His recent resignation from his management position in the Qin Group had given others other ideas.

In particular, Qin Ershu's mocking face today made him feel only amused. What he hated was competing with these people, some of whom were overestimating themselves and greedy.

He thought of Yun Nuan; she was discharged from the hospital today, and he wondered where she could go.

He went to the old house early this morning. Aunt Lan should take her there. After all, he had already kindly paid for her medical expenses, so there was no need to worry about it anymore.

He wondered how she would handle the situation with the Yun family after she returned. Thinking about this, his brow furrowed with increasing irritation.

He loosened his tie, turned his gaze to the window, the annoyance in his eyes fading, and spoke in a deep voice.

"parking".

Assistant Wen immediately found a place to stop. They were about to leave the crowded city center, but he didn't understand why his boss had made him stop.

"President Qin, you..."

Before he could finish speaking, Qin Yan opened the door, and Assistant Wen quickly took out a wheelchair from behind. He sat in the wheelchair and headed towards the small park.

"What's wrong?" A familiar voice came from behind her. Yun Nuan turned around and saw Qin Yan sitting in a wheelchair. Her tears fell to the ground again.

A look of heartache flashed in Qin Yan's eyes, and her voice unconsciously became tense.

What happened?

Yun Nuan saw a familiar face and her mouth opened slightly as she called out, "Qin... Qin Yan." Her voice was still choked with sobs as she called his name with aggrieved emotion, which felt like a sharp pain in Qin Yan's heart. Seeing her pale face and the obvious flush on her cheeks, he instinctively felt that her health was failing again.

He took her hand and gently comforted her, "Loosen your teeth first, don't bite, and shout if it hurts."

Yun Nuan was in so much pain that she couldn't think straight. She just did what she heard when she heard a familiar voice. Her tears hadn't stopped, and she was struggling to breathe.

"Wen Cheng, help her into the car, quick!"

Assistant Wen didn't dare to delay and immediately got the people into the car. As the car drove, Assistant Wen glanced at the back seat through the rearview mirror.

Yun Nuan was unsure whether she had fainted or was conscious; she murmured softly, "It hurts."

Qin Yan half-embraced her, pinching her cheeks to stop her from biting her lip. Her lip was already bleeding from biting it, and if she bit it any further, it would be unsightly.

"Drive faster." He glanced at the front seat and spoke, and Assistant Wen immediately looked away and sped up.

Qin Yan's violent temper grew stronger, and in just half a day, her illness flared up again. No one knew what she had gone to do.

Back at the sanatorium, the doctor was already prepared. It was another chaotic round of examinations and treatments, followed by an IV drip.

After finishing, the doctor sighed and said to Qin Yan.

"Actually, I don't really recommend that Ms. Yun be discharged from the hospital, but her situation is very complicated. She has a ventricular septal defect, and her condition is getting worse. She may need surgery."

However, the patient's problem isn't just a heart issue; she also has unexplained gastrointestinal problems that even we can't diagnose. Furthermore, none of her physical indicators meet the criteria for surgery. If we force surgery, it might...

After the doctor finished speaking, everyone fell silent. Qin Yan thought that Yun Nuan's illness was just a minor symptom, but he did not expect it to be so serious.

Moreover, she ate a lot of cold fruits today, which caused abdominal pain. If she had eaten more, her condition today would probably have been more than just needing acupuncture.

The nurse followed behind and emphasized the importance of her diet once again, saying that she couldn't be exposed to heat or cold. In short, she was like a porcelain doll, easily broken.

Finally, Assistant Wen was called to pay the bill again, and Qin Yan waved his hand and said it would go into his account.

He rubbed his temples, watching the person who had already received a painkiller injection sleeping soundly, and sighed helplessly.

Bringing Yun Nuan back was a particularly unwise decision, as it meant he would have to take care of her from now on, and she was still his nominal fiancée.

He thought to himself that he could afford it; he could just pay someone to take care of her, which would be a way of honoring his deceased mother.

After leaving the ward, he asked Assistant Wen to call Aunt Lan back to take care of her. Aunt Lan was surprised when she received the call; Yun Nuan had only been gone for half a day and was back again, and she was sick again.

She was heartbroken and quickly packed her things to rush to the sanatorium.

As soon as they arrived at the sanatorium, they saw Yun Nuan lying in bed receiving an IV drip again. Feeling sorry for her, they packed their things and started cooking so that Yun Nuan could have something hot to eat when she woke up.

Qin Yan came by once in the middle of the trip, and was looked at by Aunt Lan with a reproachful look. His pupils widened slightly. No, it wasn't his fault, so why was he being blamed?

Aunt Lan didn't know, and she didn't want to know. All she cared about now was whether Yun Nuan would still be in pain when she woke up. She felt like she had lost a lot of weight in just half a day.

Moreover, her lips were pouting in her sleep, which meant that someone must have bullied her when she fainted.

So she mentioned it to Qin Yan as if it were just casual conversation. Qin Yan also wanted to know where she had gone today, so he had someone check. It turned out she had gone to see Lin Yu again.

No one dared to tell anyone that Lin Yu had been slapped, so Qin Yan only knew that she had gone to find Lin Yu, but knew nothing about what had happened.

"You ungrateful wretch, you went to see him as soon as you were discharged from the hospital. You're so impatient, even though I spent money and effort on you."

He stared at the sleeping person, muttering to himself. He still had things to take care of. After checking on the person, he returned to his own ward. The sky outside was already beginning to darken, with the faint orange glow of the setting sun still lingering on the horizon, but it was quickly covered by dark clouds.

Night has fallen.

On the other side, Lin Yu finally couldn't deceive himself anymore. He didn't understand why Yun Nuan reacted this way twice when she saw him. After being annoyed for a while, he still asked someone to help him check on Yun Nuan's recent situation.

The people who went to investigate quickly obtained Yun Nuan's information, which showed that Yun Nuan had been sent to a sanatorium a month ago and had been sick ever since.

Last week, the condition was so severe that he almost went into shock and died, but somehow he survived.

It was around that time that the Yun family severed ties with her, and it is said that her nominal fiancé, Qin Yan, was still at the sanatorium.

Lin Yu was familiar with Qin Yan, but probably no one in the entire S City knew him. He was a business genius who had brought the Qin family to a position that everyone could only look up to in a short period of time.

He frowned; these documents couldn't explain why Yun Nuan's attitude towards him was unclear in such a short time.
