Chapter 98 Heaven gave him hope, then withdrew it halfway through.

Just when fate gave him hope, it always took it away halfway. He was unwilling to accept it, and his anger eventually turned into helplessness. He just wanted to hold onto something, so why was he always so cruel to him?

Yun Nuan walked a very, very long way. In her dream, many people asked her to stay, but she shook her head as she looked at each familiar face.

"No, I have to go home," she murmured to herself.

She needed to go home, but she didn't know which way home was; she couldn't find her way home. On the dimly lit bridge, everyone was queuing, the queue was very long, but she joined the queue.

Ahead stood a woman with lifeless eyes. Yun Nuan cautiously asked...

"Hello, could you tell me where this is?"

The woman turned to her and gave her a sinister laugh. "Hahaha, you don't even know where you are? This is the underworld! You've done all sorts of things against your conscience, and now you're pretending not to know you're going to hell after you die? Hmph, you have such an innocent face, but you've done all sorts of terrible things."

Yun Nuan slightly opened her mouth, "Ah, we've arrived in hell? But I didn't see the Black and White Impermanence."

The woman looked at her suspiciously. "Then how did you get here? You can't get here without someone guiding you. Besides, the Meng Po soup has to be recorded. Who are you?"

Yun Nuan didn't know how she got here. She had rejected so many people, but she ended up here. Was this her home?

She couldn't understand it, but she still thanked the woman.

"Thank you, I went to the wrong place."

The woman froze. Wait, how could she go to the wrong place in hell? Even the Black and White Impermanence didn't grab the wrong person when they apprehended her. She tried to grab Yun Nuan, but she vanished in an instant.

Yun Nuan was somewhat annoyed; none of these places were right. She needed to go home; Qin Yan was still waiting for her. With tears in her eyes, she tried her best to ask for directions.

"Child, you've taken the wrong road. This is the way home. Go on, someone is waiting for you."

She saw the ground covered with golden ginkgo leaves, and in a courtyard, someone was praying to the gods with their hands clasped together above their heads.

"Yes, Qin Yan is waiting for me to come home. I... I can't wander around anymore."

"A timely snow promises a good harvest." Aunt Lan felt a momentary joy watching the snow falling outside the window, but it was quickly replaced by melancholy. She muttered to herself, but no one could hear her.

The Sandalwood Palace was very quiet, everything was still the same as before, but now no one turned on the television.

When Qin Yan went downstairs and looked at the snow outside, she was stunned for a moment. She realized that time had passed so quickly, and it was snowing.

Aunt Lan stood at the island counter. She hadn't gone into the inner kitchen today because she cooked outside. She looked at Qin Yan and said...

"Mr. Qin, it's snowing outside. You should bring an extra layer to the company. Will you be home for dinner tonight?"

He gazed at the snow for a while, his dark eyes revealing no emotion. He glanced at his watch; time was running out. He replied casually.

"Come back for dinner, you can get ready."

Aunt Lan nodded, took out a fish from the bag (it had already been cleaned), and began to speak with her head down.

"Let's have fish tonight. We can make fish soup, it'll be warm."

When Qin Yan saw the fish, a fleeting emotion crossed his eyes. He rubbed the cufflinks on his sleeve; he used them so often that they were quite smooth.

"Okay, let's have fish tonight."

With everyone gone, the villa felt even emptier. Aunt Lan quietly prepared the fish, and the snow outside the window seemed to have intensified.

Entering the Qin Group building felt like stepping into a warm spring breeze; the temperature outside and inside were worlds apart. Not to mention, it had snowed today, and everyone was shivering, clutching hot water to warm their hands before starting work once they were a little warmer.

"Sorry, I'm the type to slack off," a comment in the group.

[Report! President Qin will arrive at the company in ten minutes. He appears to be in an extremely bad mood. All departments, please prepare accordingly.]

【What?! Help! I haven't finished the document yet! Oh no, I'm going to get yelled at!】

[It seems like President Qin hasn't been in a good mood at all. Have you ever seen him smile?]

The group fell into deep thought, as no one seemed to be able to answer. They racked their brains but couldn't recall ever seeing President Qin in a good mood.

I've seen him before, it was when Miss Yun came last time, President Qin was displaying his peacock-like prowess.

Hmm... This sentence left everyone at a loss for words. Although no one knew much about the inside story, President Qin's bad mood was probably related to Miss Yun. Lately, President Qin had been like a robot, devoid of any warmth.

I heard that Ms. Yun hasn't made a public appearance since her surgery, and there have been some bad rumors circulating about her. I wonder what the situation is like.

If Miss Yun were truly gone, then President Qin would indeed have no way to be happy.

[Enough of this talk, President Qin has arrived. All departments, prepare your meeting reports and get ready. Cheer up!]

In the conference room, Qin Yan sat at the head of the table, with a report in front of him. He glanced at it a few times and then looked away.

He gave them a cold look, a sneer playing on his lips.

"When did the company approve even this kind of plan? Are they having trouble hiring? Or do they just want to quit?"

The people on stage were a little embarrassed as they closed the document and took another copy. They hadn't expected Qin Yan to preside over the meeting today, and the plan hadn't been finalized yet, so they had to bring over the previous one.

"Their department will be disbanded after today, and the HR department will be notified to recruit new people. Compensation is not a concern, but if they stay at Qin's, the company might really be ruined by them one day. Just because I'm not here doesn't mean I don't know."

If you keep bringing out these same old solutions, I don't mind laying off even more people. There are plenty of people who want to join; those of you who can't sit still should step aside!

He wasn't delegating authority to them so they could fool him. His gaze swept over each of them, heads bowed, and he told them that from this day forward, each of them should behave themselves properly.

The meeting continues.

The people below didn't dare to breathe, taking out their documents to check them, afraid that they would say something wrong on stage and be laid off, or that they might have used previous documents, fearing that they would lose their jobs today.

The Qin family's benefits are among the best in S City, and their year-end bonuses are generous. Some people thought they could get away with things just because Qin Yan wasn't around, but they've really messed things up this time.

After returning to his office from the meeting, Qin Yan signed all the approved documents and realized it was already late. He rubbed his temples and rested for a bit.

The phone rang; it was a call from Xiao Yunli.

"Hello, Qin Yan," Xiao Yunli's voice was a bit loud on the other end, and the background music was noisy, causing Qin Yan to frown and move the phone away a little in annoyance.

"Get to the point," Qin Yan replied without any politeness.

Xiao Yunli said with a grin, "There's an event at the bar tonight, want to come and have some fun? It's been so long since you've gone out for a drink, how boring."

Qin Yan scoffed and refused outright, "I'm not going, I'm in a hurry to get home."

He hung up the phone abruptly after saying that, and Xiao Yunli on the other end, who hadn't even finished speaking, was furious when he saw the call end.

"It's like trying to pee in the toilet and it won't come out for ages," he muttered, then turned and went into the dance floor.

Inside the Sandalwood Palace, Qin Yan shook off the snow before going upstairs. Aunt Lan took the coat and carried it to the laundry room. The third floor was quiet and without a sound.

He slowly pushed open the door to his room. The half-open curtains reflected the snowflakes falling outside. The streetlights and moonlight spilled onto the bed. His long, black hair was scattered on the pillow. The blankets covered him completely, with only the top of his head showing.

Qin Yan's indifferent expression softened as he gently walked to the bedside, reaching out to touch her forehead. It was warm, even warmer than his own. He sighed and lowered his head to kiss her forehead.

"Baby, did you open the window to look at the snow just now?" A deep, helpless voice came from under the blanket, his eyelashes fluttering slightly, and his sleeve was gently tugged.
