Chapter 20

Chapter 20

When she opened her eyes, 26-year-old Ping An suddenly remembered that she had stayed in the solitary confinement room with Cheng Xiangheng for a week. During that whole week, Cheng Xiangheng did not say a word to her.

But Ping An is a chatterbox. She carries hardships that are not suitable for her age, but also has the innocence and liveliness that are suitable for her age.

When she woke up, she talked to Cheng Xiangheng. She told him about the chirping of cicadas in the countryside in summer, the rustling of the wind in the mountains late at night, and the ripe little red fruits in the rice fields.

There are so many experiences in the countryside. Even though Ping An is only ten years old now, her little head has already remembered a lot of happy things.

These were things Cheng Xiangheng had never experienced before.

Until one day half a month later, when Ping An was telling Cheng Xiangheng about his experience of playing with snakes, he suddenly fell to the ground.

When she woke up again, she was in Cheng Xiangheng's room. Cheng Xiangheng was sleeping soundly next to her. He had lost a lot of weight.

This was the only memory that appeared in Ping'an's mind. If it wasn't a dream, she really couldn't remember it.

Looking at the sky outside, it was already noon and Cheng Xiangheng had already gone to work.

He had gone to work and she was alone in the room.

When I came back last night, Cheng Xiangheng didn't ask a single question.

Ping'an lay in bed in a daze for a while, then suddenly took out a cell phone from his pajamas pocket.

This phone is a no-name brand and very old. It took me three minutes just to turn it on. Fortunately, it was just a little slow to respond and can still be used.

Ping An unlocked the phone with her fingerprint. Apart from a few apps that couldn't be uninstalled, there were only WeChat and DingTalk left. There was no entertainment software at all. It was hard to believe that this was her old phone.

The phone had been out of service for a long time, and Ping An reluctantly topped up a hundred yuan into it. After a while, countless missed calls came in, causing the phone to freeze.

Ping An had to wait for a while. After turning on her phone again, she cautiously opened WeChat. The phone froze for a moment, and then a flood of messages rushed out.

Fortunately, it didn't crash again this time.

"Where have you been, Zhou Ping'an? Wuuwuwu, I've been calling the police for so long, but where have you been? No one can find you. Even if you're dead, you'll have to leave me a message in your dreams!!!"

"Ping An, Ping An! Where have you been?"

"You've been gone for too long. The company is planning to fire you. Please come and get your things as soon as possible!"

Ping An flipped through the messages, but they were all jumbled together and he couldn't make sense of them. So he simply picked the person who had sent the most messages and replied, "I'm back."

The phone fell silent for a moment, and then there was a barrage of questions:

"Where have you been, you damn girl?! I was so worried! I even called the police, you know!"

"Where are you now? I'm going to kill you and beat you up!"

"Tell me your location quickly!"

Ping'an broke out in a cold sweat. She looked through the other person's circle of friends and found that she was a cute little girl. How could she say such terrible words?

But she still subconsciously called the little girl.

The next moment, there was no signal in the room.

Ping An frowned. He was fine just now.

She left the room and stood in the garden. The signal became a little better, and Ping An immediately called the little girl.

After the girl on the other end of the phone knew that Ping An was fine, she first scolded her angrily, then started crying, and finally cried and scolded her for having no conscience. Ping An was at a loss and comforted her for a long time, then told her about his amnesia.

The girl cried and felt distressed after hearing this. Ping An was deeply moved as he listened to her. It turned out that besides Cheng Xiangheng, there was someone in this world who cared about her very much.

The girl said that Ping An was not without relatives. She had a younger brother and she transferred money to her younger brother every month. She also said that when she was working in the company, everyone liked her very much and asked her if she wanted to return to the company.

Ping An naturally refused, as she still had to take the postgraduate entrance examination.

When the girl asked Ping An where he was, Ping An said Cheng Xiangheng's name without hesitation.

Hearing Cheng Xiangheng's name, the other party suddenly fell silent for a moment: "Ping An, do you still remember what Cheng Xiangheng did to you?"

Ping'an's heart buzzed, and his scalp tingled. "What do you mean?"

"I don't know what exactly happened between you and Cheng Xiangheng. I only know that he kept pestering you. You already had a boyfriend, but he pretended to be your boyfriend. You felt very troubled at the time and even kept avoiding Cheng Xiangheng. Later, your boyfriend Wen Zhi got into a car accident. You were in a trance and then disappeared. Ping An... I didn't expect you to lose your memory. Woo woo woo~"

Ping'an felt like he was struck by lightning, and a chill quickly surged into his heart.

The girl didn't notice that Ping'an was not right and continued to mutter something, but Ping'an could no longer listen.

Ping An was a little annoyed as she resisted the urge to ask Cheng Xiangheng for advice. She felt that many things were about to come to light, but the truth was not what she wanted.

Ping An and the girl agreed to meet in a coffee shop later. After hanging up the phone, he turned around dejectedly, but bumped into the chest of the person behind him!

She subconsciously raised her head and saw Cheng Xiangheng smiling at her with a pale face in the sunlight, his dark eyes revealing a deep meaning.

Ping An was almost frightened to the point of screaming. She took two steps back and Cheng Xiangheng grabbed her arm, preventing her from escaping.

"Sister, who are you talking to on the phone?"

Ping An stammered, "When did you come back?"

Cheng Xiangheng did not answer this question. He pulled Ping'an back to the room and locked the door.

Ping An inexplicably felt that something was wrong with Cheng Xiangheng. As soon as she entered the room, she huddled in the corner of the sofa: "Cheng Xiangheng, you should be in the company now. Why did you skip work today?"

Cheng Xiangheng sat next to Ping An. He was tall and his half-smile made him look quite oppressive.

"I've finished my work at the company. I thought you'd be lonely at home, so I wanted to come back and spend some time with you. I didn't expect you didn't need me."

Ping An smiled awkwardly. The more he spoke, the closer he got. She couldn't breathe properly, so she had to use a pillow to block her chest to leave some space between them.

"Is there anything I need to do? I'm happy that you can rest for a while!"

Unexpectedly, the man who used to be so gentle to her that it was almost tender, was a little cold today, even a little difficult to talk to.

Ping An felt that something was wrong with Cheng Xiangheng, but she didn't dare to ask. She always felt that if she asked the questions in her heart, something irreversible would happen.
