Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Cheng Xiangheng's dark eyes fell on Ping An. He gently took the cake from her hand and threw it to the assistant behind him: "This is not clean. It will upset your stomach."

Ping An pursed her pink lips, feeling anxious. "Why are you here? Didn't you go to work?"

"I have something urgent to do, so I can't go." After a pause, he asked, "Why did you come out without telling me?"

"I don't want to affect your work, especially since Ping An is not one to hide his feelings. "Didn't you call so many bodyguards to monitor me? What could happen to me?"

Cheng Xiangheng lowered his head in grievance. His skin was very fair, and the black suit he wore made his face look even paler.

It was as if he couldn't stand the heat at all. A faint pink color appeared on his face, making his dead face look a little lively.

Ping An's words made him sad. Cheng Xiangheng said with a sad tone: "You have just recovered from a serious illness. If no one is with you, I will be worried."

Ping An puffed out his cheeks.

Cheng Xiangheng is always like this. He seems to listen to her opinions gently and act like he is doing it for her own good, but in fact, he doesn't care about what she really wants!

But he looked so aggrieved, Ping An couldn't say anything harsh, so he could only walk forward sullenly: "Okay."

Cheng Xiangheng became happy again. He took two steps to catch up with Ping'an, took the initiative to hold Ping'an's hand, and interlocked their fingers.

Maybe it was because of the hot weather, but when he held her hand back to the car, he was very strong, and both of their palms were a little sweaty. The wet and hot feeling made her want to shake off his hand.

I feel so annoyed and want to vomit.

But he just liked holding hands, no matter how she refused.

Perhaps because she was feeling depressed, Ping An fell asleep in Cheng Xiangheng's arms on the way home. She had a strange dream.

——

In the dream, the room was terribly dark.

The girl fell heavily to the ground. She was too thin and her bones hit the ground, causing her whole body to tremble. She couldn't get up for a long time.

The young Cheng Xiangheng smiled gently: "Tell me, why did you break the football my mother gave me?"

Zhou Zhaodi struggled to stand up and kneeled in front of Cheng Xiangheng. Poverty and fear drained away her last bit of dignity, making her wag her tail and beg for mercy like an ugly, prodigal dog.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

Cheng Xiangheng laughed even more heartily, his pretty face filled with malice, but his voice was strangely gentle: "Let me guess, your stupid brother got tired of playing with it, but he knew it was very important, and since you didn't want to go along with him, he deliberately cut the football. He wanted you to suffer the consequences of angering me, right?"

Zhou Zhaodi subconsciously wanted to shake her head, but when she thought of her brother's smug expression when he threw the broken football at her face, she felt even more uncomfortable and tears fell down her face.

She doesn't understand why living is so difficult!

Cheng Xiangheng snorted lightly, knowing that he had guessed correctly.

In fact, he didn't care about the football given by the bitch. In Cheng Xiangheng's mind, bitches were the same as bitches, and they gave birth to him just to use him.

Both of them are bitches!

However, Cheng Xiangheng still found it interesting to exchange a football given by a cheap woman for a toy that interested him.

He lowered his head, looked at Zhou Zhaodi, who looked like a dead dog, and kicked her to the ground. "A football is very valuable. It's co-branded with a famous star. I can't even afford to sell you for your broken bones. Are you ready to bear my wrath?"

The girl already knew that she had provoked a terrible devil. She shrank back and tried to hide, but the boy stepped on her leg and she couldn't avoid it.

The boy said with pity: "One of you and your brother will break a leg today. Guess who it will be?"

No! No!

The girl screamed silently in her heart. The extreme fear suddenly caused a little fire to appear in her cowardly body. The name of that fire was hatred.

When she was younger, Zhou Zhaodi lived with her grandparents. She was not even as tall as the stove. Every day after school, the first thing she did was to light a fire and cook. If she came back a little late and her grandparents didn’t have time to eat, they would beat and scold her.

They called her a dead girl, asked her why she hadn't died yet, and said that raising her was worse than raising a pig.

At that time, Zhou Zhaodi was filled with fear. She was afraid of her grandfather's slap and her grandmother's kicking her out. She had no choice but to work hard and try to please them.

In winter, Zhou Zhaodi had to get up before dawn to boil water and cook. She had to wash clothes one day every week. She was too small to wash clothes, and she was afraid of being beaten, so she had to wash for a whole day. The chilblains on her hands were ugly, but it was also painful and itchy.

In the summer, her grandmother insisted that she go up the mountain to help her grandfather harvest wheat after school in the afternoon. After the night swallowed the last ray of afterglow in the sky, her grandfather was anxious to go home for dinner and refused to wait for her because she had night blindness.

The mountain road was very dark at night, and grandpa's impatient eyes were also scary. Zhou Zhaodi cried and shouted, stumbling forward. The branches were intertwined like ghosts, and she could not see a way out.

At that time, her grandparents slept in a mosquito net, and she slept on a simple bed made from the dining table. A small fan was facing her grandparents' bed, and they slept soundly all night.

Zhou Zhaodi, who was curled up not much bigger than a fan, was in a miserable state. Flies and mosquitoes scrambled to suck her blood. After a night, her whole body was covered with blisters.

As night passed, the blisters on my body came and went, and I got chickenpox on the back of my hands because of low immunity.

Chickenpox appears layer upon layer, falling and appearing, appearing and falling, painful and itchy. If you scratch it with your hands, the chickenpox will burst, and soon other parts of your body will be covered with chickenpox.

The classmates were afraid to approach her, saying she was a toad.

No one cares about her.

Who cares about her? She's just a little kitten. Giving her some food is already a great blessing.

Later, her grandparents died and no one in the village was willing to take her in, so the village chief reluctantly sent her to her mother.

Zhou Zhaodi followed her mother and brother to the big city. Because of compulsory education, her mother had to send her to school.

No one asked her how she was doing or whether she was adapting to life here.

She jumped from one fire pit to another.

In the past, Zhou Zhaodi was submissive and allowed herself to be beaten and scolded without daring to even think of resisting.

Now, at the moment when her leg bones were dislocated, Zhou Zhaodi suddenly began to hate, hating all those who caused her suffering!

Why! Why did she have to be born?! Why did she have to endure all this pain!

But the flame was too small. Although it burned Ping An to the point of excruciating pain, it still allowed her to endure it.

Ping An didn't struggle at all in the end. She just shed tears and felt the pain of her dislocated bones.

She had promised Cheng Xiangheng that she would return the ball to him safely, but she broke her promise.
