Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Jiang Chen learned to ride a bicycle very early on, so whether or not there are training wheels at the back doesn't make much difference to him.

He rode very fast.

Before Hu Zhenzhen came out, he had already ridden around a corner and was out of her sight.

This is a villa area designed specifically for the wealthy. The roads are flat and wide, and there are very few vehicles on the road. Jiang Chen is almost the only one riding a bicycle.

Following his memory, Jiang Chen rode towards the exit of the villa area.

Before leaving the villa complex, he first had to pass by the lakeside park that he could see from that window.

Upon arriving here, Jiang Chen finally noticed that there were people around.

"Hey, who are you?"

Two little boys who were playing with tops in the garden saw him and shouted to greet him.

Although the villa complex is large, only a limited number of families can live there.

Among these people, there were only two or three boys of similar age, and they already knew each other.

Jiang Chen's unfamiliar face stood out.

"Strangers are not allowed to come in here. If you don't live here, you can't come in to play."

Children have their own unique rules, which are both innocent and cruel.

Jiang Chen ignored them and rode towards the door on his own.

This sparked the competitive spirit of the leading boy.

"Why is he ignoring us? Come on, let's chase after him. I want to see whose kid he is."

Another person, somewhat lazy, said, "Oh, should we chase after him? But he's riding a bike."

"Duh, it's usually just the two of us playing here. If he lived here too, we could take him on as a little brother and have him play robot battles with us."

Another little boy's eyes lit up, "Yeah, I want to be Tiger the robot, since no one's going to be Dr. T'I the Monster!"

The two of them ran after him.

"Hey, you on the bike up ahead, stop for a second, which company are you from?"

Jiang Chen didn't even turn his head, his legs moving incredibly fast, making the children's bicycle feel like a race car.

Surprisingly, these two kids were quite fast runners.

"Why are you ignoring us? We can play with you, like robot battles, and you can be Dr. Tower One!"

This is the most famous animated film recently. Jiang Chen had heard a little about it from his classmates. He pouted and rode forward with his head down.

Who wants to be that bald, weirdo scientist?

This was enough time for Hu Zhenzhen to catch up.

She was a little further away, but through the sports car window, she could see two little boys chasing after her child's car.

"Wait, Mr. Liu, don't drive too fast. Let's check the situation from a distance first."

It wouldn't be good if it interfered with the child's ability to make friends.

Hu Zhenzhen recalled the original text, describing the situation around Jiang Chen after he became famous: there were sycophants, sarcastic and provocative people, and even more people who leeched off him, but no true friends.

No one shares the joy of success; even standing at the summit is a lonely place.

The friendship between children is the purest. If Jiang Chen could make friends at this time, he would not become a withdrawn, eccentric genius like in the original story.

Unfortunately, Jiang Chen didn't seem to have any intention of making friends.

Two little boys chased after him for a long time before stopping, panting, but Hu Zhenzhen didn't see him stop his bicycle.

She smiled slightly, not surprised at all, "My son really has a personality."

The driver, Liu, twitched his lips but managed to suppress a laugh. "Then I'll follow, boss."

Hu Zhenzhen nodded, "Drive slowly, and try not to let Xiao Chen see us."

After a moment of silence, Mr. Liu opened the driver's internal channel.

"The nine cars behind, keep your voices down. The boss instructed us to follow them discreetly."

"...Brother Liu, why is the Ferrari so quiet?"

"Idiots, if all nine of you step on the gas at the same time, won't that just make one sound?"

Hu Zhenzhen: ? ? ?

That doesn't seem to be the case.

She interjected, "We'll follow slowly and just keep the accelerator down."

Sitting in the driver's seat, Liu An replied with great authority, "Did you hear that? Do as the boss says."

Hu Zhenzhen then noticed the honest-looking driver.

He was tall and muscular, and even a well-fitting suit looked a size too small on him, appearing somewhat tight.

Besides being a driver, he also had some other part-time jobs.

Hu Zhenzhen guessed for a few seconds, then her attention returned to Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen had already ridden quite far, and the two children had chased him out of the lakeside park area and stopped near the gate.

It wasn't that they didn't want to keep chasing, it was that they were simply too exhausted to run anymore.

Even if a child is full of energy, they need to stop and rest after running and talking for more than ten minutes.

"Xu Bo, stop chasing me, I can't run anymore,"

The child behind stopped, panting, and called out to his friends. The child who was still running ahead looked back at him and stopped as well.

"Damn it, he must not be a resident's child here, otherwise why would he ignore me?"

Xu Bo's family is in the real estate business, and this villa area belongs to their property. He is usually fawned over by other kids, and he has never been ignored like this before.

"Forget it," the child, panting heavily with his hands on his knees, advised him. "His family probably doesn't have much money, and he wouldn't be able to play with us."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Hu Zhenzhen's car arrived.

Ten Ferraris formed a convoy and slowly passed by them, clearly slowing down to accommodate the children in front.

The two children immediately fell silent.

Once all the cars were out of sight, Xu Bo turned to his companion and asked, "Is this the poor kid you were talking about?"

The other child looked very sad. "That's not important. What's important is that he can't be Dr. Tower One anymore. I don't want to be this damn villain anymore."

This was the first time Xu Bo had ever seen him lose his temper like this. He scratched his head and said, "Fine, how about you be the octopus monster today?"

"Waaaaah..." He burst into tears.

Jiang Chen rode his bike with focus, but after leaving the gate, he quickly fell into a daze.

Although I observed the route I came from, seeing is one thing, but actually finding the way is another.

After turning two corners, Jiang Chen had already ridden to a place he didn't recognize at all.

He slowed down, feeling somewhat discouraged, but he didn't know where he could go back, so he could only pedal forward helplessly.

There were more cars, constantly passing by on the main road.

Jiang Chen shrank back in fright when he heard the horn of a road rage driver on the auxiliary road.

He was starting to think about going back...

Just as Jiang Chen was feeling fear due to the unfamiliar environment, Hu Zhenzhen was about to call someone forward.

"Xiao Chen is getting slower and slower, probably because he's tired from riding. It's been half an hour, and he's probably thirsty too. Master Liu, please speed up a bit and get ahead of him."

Liu An stepped on the gas, and the car accelerated with a loud "whoosh".

He stomped on it, and his clueless brothers behind him followed suit, instantly making the roar of the luxury sports car resound through the sky.

This startled Xiao Jiangchen, who turned around to look.

Only then did I realize that he was followed by so many sports cars.

"What do you want! I... I have no money!"

Jiang Chen suddenly felt that he was being targeted by those bullies in TV dramas.

That's how it's always portrayed on TV: bad guys kidnap rich people's children to make money.

But he wasn't his stepmother's child at all, so even if these people kidnapped him, they wouldn't get any money.

Jiang Chen's eyes welled up with tears.

Why does he keep causing trouble for his stepmother? Is he really the jinx they say he is?

Hu Zhenzhen rolled down the car window and saw the child about to cry.

"What's wrong, Xiao Chen? Did Mommy scare you?"

Jiang Chen shook his head, then nodded.

The moment he saw her, his leaden heart suddenly felt lighter, and tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.

Seeing the little guy's pitiful appearance, Hu Zhenzhen's heart softened immediately.

She took a few tissues, got out of the car, and wiped away Jiang Chen's tears.

"Don't be afraid, Mom is here."

Jiang Chen suddenly threw himself into her arms and cried his heart out.

A mere fright wouldn't be enough to make a child cry so bitterly.

Hu Zhenzhen hugged him, gently patted his back, her eyelashes drooping, and her eyes darkened.

On her very first day here, someone is already bullying her little money-making machine. They'll see if she, as the mother, will stand by and do it.

It took Hu Zhenzhen ten minutes to finally calm the child down.

Jiang Chen had never cried so freely in his memory, and only after he finished crying did he realize how embarrassed he was.

Seeing his evasive gaze, Hu Zhenzhen didn't call him out. "Xiao Chen, do you want to ride your bike a little longer? Or should you just take the car back with Mom?"

Jiang Chen's eyes were still swollen, and he didn't want the unfamiliar driver to see them. "I want to ride one more lap."

Hu Zhenzhen didn't stop him.

"Okay, but there are too many cars on this road, it's dangerous. Would you like Uncle Liu and the others to follow behind you?"

After Jiang Chen learned to ride a bicycle, no one worried about his safety when he went out riding.

Hearing this out of the blue, he paused for a moment, then nodded.

Ten Ferraris lined up and drove slowly, a truly unusual sight. Nearby passersby kept flashing their cameras and quickly posted the photos on social media.

Hu Zhenzhen gave Liu An a few instructions, but did not get on the bus herself.

She moved to the last car in the convoy and waited until the rest of the cars had driven far behind Jiang Chen before speaking.

“Turn around and go back to Woshan Villa.”

The driver, who had been trying to steal a glance at the beautiful boss, was startled by her expression and immediately replied, "Yes, boss."

That shout was so well-trained; it was clear that the person had practiced it.

However, Hu Zhenzhen had no time to think about these things; all her thoughts were focused on finding the culprit.

She sent Chen a message, asking him to call all the employees in the villa to the lobby.

The housekeeper called back immediately.

"Don't worry, boss, I've already investigated the matter thoroughly."

“There are surveillance cameras in the lobby and kitchen on the first floor of the villa. I checked the footage and found that the young master lingered outside the kitchen for a while, and then he seemed a little downcast.”

"The two nannies are in the lobby right now. I've transcribed their gossip from this afternoon and sent it to you."

Hu Zhenzhen opened WeChat and immediately understood why Chen Kai was unwilling to describe it directly.

She suppressed her anger and said, "Don't let them leave, I'll be there right away."

The phone, with its screen lit up, was caught in the crossfire and was thrown heavily aside.

The screen that wasn't turned off held no secrets; it clearly displayed words like "husband-killer," "jinx," and "burden."

Driver Xiao Wang was startled by her anger, and then he heard Hu Zhenzhen's angry voice.

“I’m going to go and see who dares to call my son a jinx in my own home.”
