Chapter 19 After Winning the Lottery

Jiang Zao waved her hand: "Alright, go watch it."

Jiang Zao calmly drank the beauty pills and body shaping pills first, and waited on the sofa for her parents to come out.

Jiang's father came out first and saw that Jiang Zaozao was still on the sofa: "Zaozao, it's getting late, hurry up and wash up and go to bed."

Jiang Zao nodded: "Dad, are you thirsty after your shower? Come and have a glass of water."

Mr. Jiang wasn't surprised: "She really is a bit thirsty. She hasn't had a drop of water since we left. My daughter is so thoughtful."

Jiang's father drank the water that Jiang Zao handed him with gusto. Not having had enough, he prepared to pick up the water glass next to Jiang Zao.

Jiang Zao saw this and jolted, pulling the blanket away.

Dad Jiang! ???

Father Jiang: "What's wrong??"

Jiang Zao: "This is the water I poured for my mom. If you want more water, go pour some yourself."

Dad Jiang!? The little cotton-padded jacket was only on for less than two minutes and it's already letting in drafts?!

Father Jiang chuckled helplessly, "What's going on? Isn't all water the same? Why don't you just pour your mom another glass?"

Jiang Zao pouted: "No. You pour your own water."

Inner monologue: This isn't just ordinary water! This water cost millions to acquire!

Jiang's father snorted as he watched his daughter protecting the water like a mother hen, then went over and poured himself a full glass of water.

"Oh dear, poor thing, he won't even let his dad have a glass of water, he has to come and get it himself!"

Jiang Zao turned a deaf ear

Inner monologue: My dad's acting skills are such a waste; it's almost a waste to give him all that talent. But maybe I'll inherit that trait? Maybe I should consider becoming an actor, haha.

Father Jiang was still swaying back and forth.

Jiang's mother also came out after taking a shower.

Jiang Zao eagerly said, "Mom, have some water!"

Jiang's mother curiously accepted the water glass Jiang Zao handed her, glancing at Jiang's father, who was giving her a resentful look not far away.

"What are you two playing with?"

Jiang Zao: "No, it's not that. Dad insisted on drinking the water I poured for you."

Aunt Jiang: "That's it!?"

Father Jiang: "Yes, that's it. Why can't I drink it!"

Aunt Jiang looked at the two of them with amusement, and without saying a word, gulped down her water: "Alright, now you two don't need to argue anymore, the water's gone."

Jiang Zao looked at the empty water glass and nodded in satisfaction.

Father Jiang: Is it because of the water?! It's because of my attitude!!

Having completed her task, Jiang Zao was getting up to take a quick shower and go to bed.

My mom called me over: "Zaozao, I forgot to tell you, your dad and I have already listed our family's small shop with a real estate agency."

Jiang Zao exclaimed in surprise, "Really??"

Father Jiang: "Why are you so happy?"

Jiang Zao smiled and said, "I've been wanting you two to sell the shop for a long time. You see, because of this shop, our family was able to gather for New Year's Eve dinner that year. Now, it's perfect to sell it."

Aunt Jiang smiled and said, "This time it's just as you wished. You even won the lottery, so you have extra money. It's good to sell it now, so you don't have to get up early and work late every day to go to the market to buy goods."

Father Jiang nodded, "Finally, we can take a rest."

Jiang's mother looked at Jiang Zao and said, "Zao Zao, rest for another day today. Starting tomorrow, get up early in the morning to study. Your father and I have nothing to do right now, so we'll stay with you and help you prepare for the college entrance examination."

Jiang Zao's expression froze for a moment, then she quickly changed the subject: "Mom and Dad? Have you ever thought about how our family might be harassed by people asking for money after winning the lottery?"

Mr. Jiang frowned: "That's quite possible! We bought the lottery tickets at the lottery shop at the entrance of our community, and we just bought them recently. The shop owner must remember us! What should we do?"

Jiang Ma calmly analyzed: "Now some people probably already know. There's nothing else to be afraid of, it's just that these people who keep coming up to borrow money are a bit troublesome."

Father Jiang also fell into deep thought.

Aunt Jiang: "Let's not worry about it now. Worrying won't help. We'll deal with whatever comes our way. If all else fails, we'll just move. We have money anyway."

Mr. Jiang nodded, "That's all we can do for now."

Seeing that her parents had stopped bringing up the topic of her, Jiang Zao jumped up.

Jiang Zao: "Mom and Dad, I'm going to take a shower now."

Aunt Jiang nodded: "Go ahead, do you need me to help you wash?"

Jiang Zao waved her hand: "No need, no need, I can manage by myself."

He turned around, leaned on his crutches, and limped to the bathroom.

The Jiang family, believing that things would work themselves out, stopped dwelling on the matter and prepared to go to the provincial capital early the next morning to claim their prize.

Yes, such a big prize needs to be redeemed at the provincial lottery center. Tomorrow, Mr. Jiang will go to redeem the prize alone, while Mrs. Jiang will stay home with Jiang Zao.

…………

As the sky gradually turns white and the streetlights turn off one by one, the curtain of dawn slowly rises.

Mr. Jiang came out early this morning with huge dark circles under his eyes.

Yes, neither Mr. nor Mrs. Jiang slept all night.

Winning such a big prize makes me incredibly nervous.

So, before five o'clock, Mr. Jiang got up to prepare breakfast for the whole family.

I prepared some pan-fried buns for Jiang Zaozao and her mother, and also cooked a pot of spicy soup. I also took out the dried yogurt that he learned to make by following a tutorial.

Take out three bowls, pour in the dry yogurt, and take out the prepared cereal, chocolate, blueberries, and strawberries.

After a simple plating, I must say it's truly a feast for the eyes.

It must be delicious.

Sitting at the dining table, Dad Jiang picked up a spoon and scooped out a large chunk of dry yogurt, stuffing it into his mouth.

Within three seconds, his expression of enjoyment froze, then turned ferocious.

Father Jiang suddenly picked up the water glass on the table and gulped down two mouthfuls of water.

"My god. What is this stuff? It tastes as awful as gypsum dissolved in water."

After hesitating for a moment between wasting food and the possibility of dying from eating it, Dad Jiang finally took the bowl to the bathroom, and soon the sound of the toilet flushing could be heard.

After doing all this, Dad Jiang grabbed two pan-fried buns and prepared to leave.

Before leaving, he took a serious look at the two beautifully presented bowls of dry yogurt on the table, smiled slyly, and then turned and left with his bag.

Unaware that all of this was happening, Jiang Zao and her mother were still fast asleep.

It was almost eight o'clock when Jiang's mother, Jiang Zao, also got up and looked at the dry yogurt on the dining table.

Jiang Zao: "Wow, Dad's cooking is getting better and better. The plating is so exquisite."

He hurriedly sat down, scooped up a spoonful of dry yogurt and ate it, but the more he ate, the more uncomfortable he felt.

At this moment, Aunt Jiang ladled out the spicy soup.

Jiang's Mom: "How's it going, Zaozao? How does the dry yogurt taste?"

Jiang Zao forced a smile and said with sticky mouth, "Not bad, it tastes great, Mom, you should try it."

Jiang's mother said confidently, "Right? I knew it would be delicious, that's why I had your dad make it. I see people eating it online every day, and I'm getting so hungry."

Aunt Jiang also stuffed a piece into her mouth: "..."

Aunt Jiang: "What...what is this thing...?"

My mouth felt like I was chewing a sticky, plaster-flavored gum.
