Chapter 34 Questioning

This is a room with no windows on any side, which looks very oppressive. There are two people sitting opposite them, who are not from the police station and look very serious.

Su He guessed that they were people sent by the Public Security Bureau.

Upon seeing her, the two men didn't waste any time and immediately asked, "We heard you were the first to discover the traitor. Can you tell us how it happened?"

Su He roused herself and recounted her previous findings once more.

One morning when she came to the cafeteria, she thought she heard a "beep beep" sound, but because she wasn't sure what it was, she didn't think much of it at the time and forgot about it as soon as she turned her head.

But when she heard the car horn beeping again, she was surprised to find that the two sounds had the same frequency, which reminded her of the incident.

She had studied piano for many years in her previous life and was very sensitive to sounds and note frequencies. She also recalled her memories of watching anti-Japanese war dramas and thought it might be the sound of a telegram.

In addition, she suddenly discovered that Dong Fang's behavior was actually quite strange on several occasions.

For example, is it true that you always arrive at work the earliest and leave the latest because you want to do more work? Or are you trying to cover something up?

For example, his company has been providing dormitories for several years, so why does he still need to rent a house himself? It's not like he has other family members.

So why would he waste money renting a place by himself? Is it simply because he doesn't want to live with anyone else? That can't be, right?

For example, what was Dong Fang doing at the front the day before the mission failed? Knowing that Director Wu hadn't come to work, why did he go to see him at that time? Did he really forget?

After considering all the oddities, she realized that the problem lay with Dong Fang!

Then she remembered a line from a detective novel: "The most dangerous place is the safest place."

Dong Fang was usually in charge of cooking in the kitchen, and no one else would touch the rice container, so it was normal for him to hide the telegraph machine in the rice container.

No wonder people don't usually notice it.

The reason Director Wu didn't arrest him immediately is probably because he followed him and obtained information about the other members of the gang. He only arrested Dong Fang after those people were arrested.

Of course, what followed was Su He's speculation, while she didn't mention anything about the modern era at the beginning, only saying that it was her own speculation.

But the questioner still had questions: "You said you accidentally heard the sound of a telegram being sent when you came to work early one day. Why didn't you say anything at the time?"

Su He shook her head. "I didn't notice at the time. The sound was very soft, and the sound of the door opening was very loud, so it was covered up. After that, it was gone. I thought I was hallucinating, so I didn't pay much attention to it."

"So how did you connect the sound of a car horn to the sound of a telegraph?"

"I don't know either." Su He recalled carefully, "I usually have a good memory. Although I didn't pay attention at the time, I still have an impression."

Moreover, the horn sound over there was very strange. It wasn't the normal "beep beep" sound of a car; it was two short beeps followed by one long one. I noticed it was different from what I had heard before, which is why I paid special attention. Then I suddenly remembered that I seemed to have heard that frequency somewhere before, and after thinking about it carefully when I got back, I remembered it..."

After hearing this explanation, the two men exchanged a glance and asked, "Have you ever dealt with telegrams before?"

Su He shook her head. "I haven't had any contact with them. I only saw them in movies, and when I thought about it again, I thought they looked similar, so I went to verify it."

The two nodded, asked her about her specific situation, and then let her leave.
