My younger cousin, Su Nan, held a large conch shell to his ear and listened for a while before exclaiming in surprise, "Big sister, you can really hear the sound of the ocean in this!"
The others immediately picked up the conch shells and listened, and they were all very surprised.
"Yes, it really exists!"
"Big sister, can I take it to show someone else?"
Su He chuckled upon seeing this, "Alright, take it and play with it."
Upon hearing this, the younger children immediately grabbed the conch shells and ran out of the house, probably to show them off to their friends.
Seeing this, Su He smiled and took out the seafood she had brought home, asking her aunt and uncle to cook it.
Aunt and the others were very happy to receive it. They rarely get to eat seafood in the countryside, and there are some dishes they don't know how to cook, so Su He helped them with some instructions.
After she finished speaking, she finally had time to visit her eldest cousin's wife, who was still in postpartum confinement.
As soon as I entered the room, I saw my eldest sister-in-law lying on the kang (a heated brick bed). She slowly sat up after seeing me come in.
"Little Heya is back."
Su He frowned as soon as she saw her face; she did indeed look unwell.
My smile seemed forced when I spoke to her.
Su He sighed inwardly, unsure how to comfort her. Just then, her little niece suddenly burst into tears.
The eldest sister-in-law glanced at it from the side and immediately said, "She must have peed. I'll change her diaper."
Su He replied, "I'll do it."
Seeing this, the eldest sister-in-law quickly refused, "No need, how can I let you do this work? I can do it."
Su He chuckled, "Sister-in-law, don't be so polite. I'm not that delicate. It's just changing a diaper. I used to do it all the time."
Although she said that, her eldest sister-in-law still didn't let her do it.
Just then, my older cousin came in and, seeing the situation, quickly stepped forward to take over.
My older cousin, despite being a man, was very skilled and careful, clearly showing how much he loved children.
The eldest sister-in-law's brows relaxed a little upon seeing this.
After the diaper was changed, the baby seemed less uncomfortable and opened his eyes.
Su He curiously went over to take a look and found that her little niece was very pretty, with big eyes and was especially cute.
He immediately smiled and said, "This little guy is really good-looking; he's definitely going to be a beauty."
Hearing her say that, her older cousin laughed, "Yes, I also think Er Ya is pretty. Everyone says she looks like you!"
"Really?" Su He was surprised when she heard this, and looked at it carefully again. It did look a bit like her.
My older cousin nodded. "My mom and the others all say she looks like you, exactly like you when you were little. Hehe, if she does look like you, that would be the best. You're the most successful one in our family. I hope she can be half as good as you in the future!"
Su He laughed when she heard this, "No, I hope my little niece will be better than me in the future."
The eldest cousin didn't have high hopes, but upon hearing this, his brow furrowed, and he thought for a moment before saying, "Why don't you name her Heya? Let her borrow some of your good fortune."
Su He was surprised to hear this, "She hasn't chosen a name yet?"
"No." He glanced at his eldest sister-in-law and shook his head. "I didn't think of anything suitable."
Su He didn't doubt it, but hesitated a bit and said, "You really want me to choose a name? Aren't you afraid I'll choose one that sounds bad?"
My older cousin chuckled, "No problem, Heya, you're educated, you'll definitely be able to come up with a nice name."
Seeing his attitude, Su He knew she couldn't refuse, so she thought for a moment and said, "Why don't you go see Su Zhen? Her sister is jade, and she is a treasure."
"Su Zhen? That sounds nice! Treasure is good, Er Ya is my treasure!"
Seeing that her eldest cousin liked it, she felt relieved. She then looked at her eldest cousin's wife and found that she was somewhat silent, her eyes fixed on her little niece.
She only snapped out of her daze and smiled when her older cousin asked her if she liked it.
She said softly, "I like it, Treasure. It's a good child."
Her older cousin seemed particularly happy to hear this, and Su He felt that something must have happened that she didn't know about.
