Chapter 16 Catching a Thief

Su He had no idea that she had scared away two peach blossoms because she ate too much.

After leaving the state-run restaurant, she began to ponder where to go next.

Logically speaking, from the inquiries she made that morning, she should have been able to tell that the situation in other factories was probably similar, so asking further questions would be a waste of time.

But if she didn't go, she really didn't know what else to do...

Since she couldn't decide where to go for the time being, Su He just wandered around aimlessly.

She's finally managed to get out of the house, so even if she can't find a job, she still needs to take a good look at her surroundings.

Otherwise, once she goes back, Grandma Su probably won't want her to come out again.

Thinking this, she looked around, wondering if she had been daydreaming and hadn't been paying attention to where she was.

It felt like she had entered a narrow alleyway, with many turns, and she was almost lost.

As a result, just as I turned at the next intersection, I was almost hit by someone running from the opposite direction.

Fortunately, Su He had quick reflexes due to years of martial arts training. She instinctively turned to the side, preventing the man from bumping into her. He then hurriedly ran away, and Su He didn't even get a chance to see what he looked like.

He frowned, cursing inwardly at the man's lack of morality, for barging around recklessly in the alley.

When I looked up, I suddenly saw an old woman lying on the ground in front of me, shouting loudly, "Stop thief!"

Upon hearing this, Su He immediately understood what had happened, and saw that the person who had just bumped into her had not yet run far away.

He ran over in a few steps and kicked it.

He kicked the thief to the ground.

The thief screamed in pain and tried to get up, but she kicked him in the back.

"Behave yourself!"

The thief was pinned to the ground, the weight of the foot on his back feeling like a mountain was pressing down on him. It was a mystery how this little girl had such strength!

The thief, utterly despondent, had no choice but to accept his fate.

At this moment, other people in the alley who heard the noise also ran out.

Several people came over to help Su He subdue the thief, several others helped the old woman on the ground to her feet, and someone else went to call the police.

However, the old lady was probably injured, as she was groaning in pain.

After Su He and the others subdued the thief, they went over to check on the old woman's injuries.

The original owner practiced martial arts with his master for many years, and injuries were common. Although he had never studied medicine, he could still tell whether a bone was broken or not.

He reached out and touched the old woman's ankle, then said, "It's not broken, it's probably twisted. It's very swollen, but it will be fine after a few days of rest."

Before anyone else around her could react, she had already finished reading.

The onlookers were somewhat surprised to see that Su He had drawn a conclusion after just a couple of touches.

The old woman had probably calmed down a bit by now, her face still covered in sweat, but she still gratefully said to her, "Thank you, young lady. If it weren't for you, the thief would probably have succeeded."

The others nearby chimed in, "Yeah, Lao Xu, luckily that young girl caught the thief for you, otherwise you would have been in real trouble this time, suffering all sorts of trouble and losing your money and belongings!"

As they were talking, someone picked up the old lady's small basket that had been stolen. The vegetables inside had fallen to the ground because the thief had tripped, and there was also a piece of meat, but it was now dirty.

Someone also pulled a wad of cash from the thief, presumably the money he had just robbed from the old lady.

Seeing this, Su He said, "I didn't do anything, I just happened to run into it."

Upon hearing this, the elderly woman surnamed Xu said, "Girl, don't be modest. That meat was bought for my daughter-in-law. I had a hard time getting it from the supply and marketing cooperative. If this thief gets it, I'll be heartbroken!"

Despite saying that, Su He was still embarrassed by her exaggerated tone of gratitude and didn't know how to respond.

Fortunately, the police arrived quickly.
