Chapter 346 Catching a Cat

Knowing that he had no choice but to go in, Jiang Wangchao could only walk ahead.

As soon as he moved, the other people who liked to watch the excitement followed suit.

Soon the group entered the courtyard, and after passing the screen wall, they saw the scene inside.

Everyone was stunned when they saw this...

In the small courtyard, there were forty or fifty cats of all colors—black, white, spotted—standing around. They stopped meowing when people came in and just stared at them.

Especially the one in the very middle, which was completely black and stared straight at people, looked quite scary.

Being stared at by so many cats, some of the more timid ones were suddenly startled!

"My goodness, where did all these cats come from? This is terrifying!"

As soon as he finished speaking, all the cats seemed to be frightened and suddenly began to scatter in all directions.

The courtyard immediately descended into chaos.

The people who came in then remembered that they had come to help catch the cat. The young man from the neighborhood committee immediately grabbed a sack and threatened them, "Don't run away! Stay put, or you'll be in big trouble when we catch you!"

Of course, these words did not scare the cats. They ran even faster, leaping and bounding about. But strangely, no matter how they ran, they stayed in the yard and on the roof tiles; none of them managed to escape.

The others whispered among themselves, "What's going on with these cats? Have they made this their home?"

"That's quite possible. I live nearby and I've never seen anyone living in this yard. I guess these cats took over the space because no one lives here."

...

As things grew increasingly chaotic, Jiang Wangchao's brows furrowed deeper and deeper. He seemed unable to understand what was going on, but it looked like catching a cat today would be very difficult. He wondered why it was so clever; so many people had failed to catch a single one!

He figured that since that was the case, he had no choice but to take some other measures. As a doctor, it was quite easy for him to prepare some poison. Once he took a bowl of the medicine, none of the cats would be able to escape.

He certainly didn't want his house to become a cat's den.

Thinking of this, he wanted to speak up and stop them, but before he could say anything...

A tabby cat, seemingly in a panic, crashed into the living room window.

Because no one was living in the rooms, all five doors were locked when we entered; the cat hadn't been inside before.

But with this sudden bump, they realized the window seemed unlocked, so the tabby cat hid inside, but no one could get in.

Moreover, these cats, for some reason, upon seeing this situation, led by a black cat, all started crashing into the window.

Sure enough, they managed to break into several rooms, including a living room, a bedroom, and a storage room. For a while, only the room on the far right remained unbroken.

Suddenly, a lot of cats rushed into the room, jumping and leaping around, leaving the cat catcher bewildered. How was he supposed to catch them now?

Then Director Jin, panting, said, "Dr. Jiang, please open the door. Don't worry, we'll definitely catch all the cats for you!"

However, looking at the messy courtyard, Jiang Wangchao could barely maintain his usual calm expression.

Just as she was about to say something, she heard the young man who was most enthusiastic about catching cats shout, "Yes, Dr. Jiang, don't worry, I'm very good at catching cats, I'll definitely be able to catch one for you!"

As he spoke, he picked up a stick that someone had brought in and ran towards a cat, as if he intended to kill it if he couldn't catch it.
