Chapter 119 Pet Shop Anecdotes
The recording of this episode of the show has ended tonight.
The next morning, none of the guests had any recording tasks, so they all slept in.
Xu Wang and Pei Yanchuan took Nuomi and boarded a private plane in the afternoon.
After landing in City A, the two did not rush home. Instead, they got into the driver's car and went to a pet store near their home to buy some things for Nuomi.
The pet store the two visited was probably the largest and most famous in the entire city. They not only had dedicated veterinarians, but also a large pet supermarket, and they also offered pet grooming services.
"Ding! Welcome to Furry Paradise. After entering, turn left to find our pet supermarket area, turn straight to find our treatment area, and turn right to find our grooming area."
Xu Wang and Pei Yanchuan led Nuomi through the automatic door. After the door closed automatically, a voice prompt rang in their ears.
After the voice prompt ended, various pet sounds came into their ears from all directions.
"Awoo!" Nuomi was so excited to see so many of its own kind for the first time that it kept jumping around and couldn't stop. Its tail was practically wagging so hard it was blurry.
This was Xu Wang's first time visiting such a large pet store, and his curiosity was only slightly less than Nuomi's.
Pei Yanchuan pushed a medium-sized puppy stroller over, and Nuomi had plenty of room inside.
"Awoo!" Nuomi cried out excitedly as she clung to the bicycle basket.
Xu Wang couldn't help but reach out and rub Nuomi's head.
Pei Yanchuan looked at the man and dog in front of him with tenderness in his eyes.
Just as the two were pushing the cart toward the pet supermarket area, the automatic door behind them suddenly opened, and three people rushed in from the outside.
Leading the charge was a man in a suit and tie, holding a... golden retriever?
Xu Wang stared in disbelief at the incredibly fat golden retriever. How fat could it be? It really looked like one of those gas cylinders described online, and that wasn't an exaggeration at all.
"Awoo~" Nuomi's attention was successfully drawn over as well.
The man was followed by two women. One of them was wearing a smart black coat and red-soled high heels, and looked like a strong woman. At this moment, she was supporting the old lady next to her with a troubled expression. The old lady was running faster than her, and the cane in her hand was just for decoration.
"My darling, my darling, what will I do without your grandma?" the old lady shouted as she ran, her voice so loud that it successfully attracted everyone's attention.
Seeing this, the woman quickly covered her face: "Mom, calm down. My brother has already taken Yuanbao to the doctor, and it shouldn't be anything serious. We just had Yuanbao checked out the day before yesterday, and he's fine."
“How can it be nothing? It’s a big deal! You aunts and uncles don’t care about your nephew at all. Only this old woman has been taking care of him. He… he hasn’t eaten all day. This isn’t a big deal, but what if he gets sick from hunger?” The old woman pulled out a handkerchief from somewhere and sadly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. She sobbed.
"I know you all want Yuanbao to lose weight, and I know it's for his own good, but we can't let the child go hungry." The old lady became more and more upset as she spoke, and her handkerchief became soaked.
The woman stood silently in front of the old lady, looked up, and held her forehead with her hand; she had a bit of a headache.
"Mom, to be honest, I feel that Yuanbao is more likely to be overfed than hungry now, thanks to your constant feeding." The woman felt her blood pressure rise as she thought about her mother feeding Yuanbao at home. The doctor said that he only needed to be fed one spoonful, but you piled up a tower on top of that one spoonful. One spoonful is a meal for others, but your one spoonful is equivalent to two meals for others.
When Yuanbao was first brought home, he was a handsome little dog. Now, he's become a complete glutton.
As soon as the woman finished speaking, the doctor pushed out a small cart, on which lay Yuanbao, a large golden retriever, lying lazily.
The three people outside quickly surrounded them.
The doctor took off his mask, and his expression underneath was a mix of helplessness and amusement.
"Doctor, is my baby alright?" The old lady pushed past her children and anxiously approached the stroller.
"We just checked Yuanbao and there's nothing wrong with him."
"Why isn't it eating if there's nothing wrong? It used to eat more than a spoonful, but now it won't even finish half a spoonful." The old lady still looked worried. Could it be that Yuanbao is tired of that brand of dog food?
The woman sighed again upon hearing this, "My dear mother, that half a spoonful is the normal amount for most people."
"Is it possible that he's been eating too many treats, so he's not eating as much dog food?" the veterinarian said tactfully.
The man and woman beside them both looked at their elderly mother: Did you hear that? It's not that your baby doesn't want to eat, it's that you've been feeding him too many snacks.
The old lady blinked. She remembered that the snacks she had just bought for Yuanbao had been delivered to her door by the deliveryman that morning.
While she was unpacking the snacks, Yuanbao saw and smelled the familiar aroma and kept circling around her. She couldn't resist Yuanbao's cuteness and fed it a few.
The misunderstanding was finally resolved smoothly.
Xu Wang listened with great interest. Looking at the golden retriever named Yuanbao, he suddenly thought of an old man in his village in his previous life who raised pigs. He could raise any animal he wanted to be fat and healthy. Pigs were fat, chickens were fat, dogs were fat. Basically, everything he raised was fat.
Is this a talent unique to some elderly people?
"Do you think Grandpa will become like this after seeing Nuomi?" Xu Wang looked at Pei Yanchuan, who had been expressionless, and couldn't help but reach out and gently poke his arm.
"No." Pei Yanchuan answered without the slightest hesitation. Xu Wang felt that his grandfather was kind and approachable, but that was only because his grandfather was talking to him. His grandfather didn't look like that when he looked at other people.
Xu Wang narrowed his eyes, wondering if it would be a matter of time before they went to the old house tomorrow.
Xu Wang and Pei Yanchuan arrived at the pet supermarket area, which was very large. Rows of shelves were arranged in two orderly rows, and there were not only pet snacks, but also pet toys and supplies.
Xu Wang looked at the different kinds of snacks on the shelf and was dazzled. He didn't know that his dog had so many snacks. Nuomi was happy again.
Pei Yanchuan pushed the cart loaded with glutinous rice, closely following behind Xu Wang.
Xu Wang put the canned snacks in his hand into the cart one by one, and soon the cart was filled with all kinds of canned snacks.
Nuomi tried to paw at the jar and the chew stick next to it with her paws.
"You can't eat it yet, Nuomi." Xu Wang turned his head and saw that his Nuomi was drooling.
As if it understood, Nuomi let out a pitiful whimper.
Xu Wang, realizing that Nuomi didn't yet have her own little nest at home, took Pei Yanchuan to the pet supplies section.
Not only are there doghouses and cathouses here, but they also sell tree branches, and there are quite a few people standing in front of the branches.
Xu Wang peered over and saw that the girl standing in front of the tree branch had a snow-white snake wrapped around her wrist, while the boy next to her had a green lizard crawling around his neck.
"Awoo!" Nuomi tilted her head curiously in that direction.
Xu Wang quickly covered the little guy's head, afraid that the little guy in the stroller would treat someone else's pet as a toy.
Xu Wang chose a dog bed that was neither too big nor too small for Nuomi's current size. The dog bed was off-white and felt very soft to the touch. Finally, Xu Wang also brought a small mat of the same color.
After selecting all the necessary items, the two took Nuomi and prepared to go to the cashier to pay.
Halfway to the checkout counter, Pei Yanchuan suddenly remembered something. He stopped pushing his cart where he was.
"What's wrong?" Xu Wang looked up in confusion, holding Nuomi in his arms. Because they had bought a lot of things, the shopping cart was full, so Nuomi was being held in Xu Wang's arms.
"Wait here for a moment, I'm going to get something over there." Pei Yanchuan pointed to a shelf not far away.
“Okay, you go get it, I’ll watch the car.” Xu Wang nodded.
Pei Yanchuan moved very quickly and returned with the items in no time.
Xu Wang didn't notice anything when he was far away, but as Pei Yanchuan got closer, he finally understood why the other party had suddenly stopped.
Xu Wang looked at the green bag in Pei Yanchuan's arms and then glanced at Nuomi with pity.
Nuomi, unaware of what was happening, stuck out her tongue at Xu Wang with a dazed look.
Pei Yanchuan calmly put all the freeze-dried vegetables and fruits in his arms into the shopping cart: "Alright, now we can go pay the bill."
