Chapter 18: Small Village Observations (I)



As for Aunt Zhang, she was a widow who had been misled by fate. Born into a family of scholars, her family fell into poverty when she was young. Not only was her childhood sweetheart breaking off the engagement, but her uncle, not yet her biological uncle, sold her to the countryside as a child bride. Fortunately, the family she belonged to was honest and treated her very well.

She hadn't lived in this village long. In fact, most of the time, she was either searching for her son or on her way to find him. This search had lasted eight years.
