He turned a deaf ear to Wen Wushang's words and stared at the soul not far away with his purple eyes.
It was an old man who had died in the fire not long ago. He knelt down in front of Su Yao with a painful expression on his face, as if begging Su Yao for help in saving people.
In a flash, Su Yao disappeared from the spot.
The midday sun was blazing, but it couldn't illuminate the dead ruins in the western suburbs of Yaocheng.
The old demolished houses seemed to be rotting quietly under the scorching sun, and the broken walls were engulfed by flames, leaving only charred skeletons.
The air still stank of a strong burning smell, and the ground was littered with melted plastic and cracked bricks.
Here, there were once traces of life, but now there are only ashes and silence.
There was no one around, even the wind seemed to have stopped.
Su Yao stood before the ruins, her plain clothes whitish in the light. She looked down at the scorched earth, her eyes as indifferent as water, yet hinting at a murderous intent.
She took out the Wanhua Pill from her bosom, and the pill melted in her mouth. The aura around her vibrated, and in a flash, her figure had transformed into a tall young man in a firefighter's suit. His face was unfamiliar, but his temperament was still calm and clear.
A shadowy figure quietly emerged. It was the hunched, skinny old man, looking at her anxiously, "Please save my grandson... He's still in there! I'm already dead and there's no hope... He absolutely must live!!"
Su Yao nodded, said nothing more, and walked into the ruins.
The fire had not yet been completely extinguished, and thick smoke was rolling between the broken walls, like a low roar.
A few remaining fires were still gnawing at the wooden beams and broken tiles. Suddenly, there was a loud bang, and an entire wall collapsed, sending up sparks all over the sky.
The scorching heat hit her face, but around Su Yao, an invisible layer of divine power protected her body, isolating the heat. Her figure moved among the fireworks, as if she did not belong to this world.
Her steps were light but swift, and every inch of collapsed ground and crumbling floor could not stop her from moving forward.
"In that room!!" The old man's voice trembled in her ears.
Looking with purple eyes, it was a house that had collapsed for the most part, with flames surging on the roof and the pillars charred as ink.
She leaped up like a swallow, passed through the blazing wall, pushed open the half-collapsed door, and the room was filled with thick smoke and burnt stench.
A small figure huddled in the corner, his face covered in ashes, barely able to breathe.
The five-year-old boy had his eyes closed and his lips were purple, and he was on the verge of life and death.
Su Yao immediately leaned over, held him in her arms, opened his stiff lips, took out a crystal green soul-restoring pill from her arms, and carefully put it into her mouth.
Spiritual energy flowed through the pill, the little boy's chest rose and fell slightly, and his fingertips moved.
She breathed a sigh of relief, picked up the child and turned to leave.
There was another roar behind her, and the entire roof collapsed completely. Flames shot up into the sky, as if to engulf her.
But she walked out of the sea of fire unharmed and walked step by step to the edge of the ruins.
Just as she arrived under a big tree on the outskirts, she finally heard the rapid and shrill sirens of fire trucks and ambulances in the distance.
She placed the little boy under a tree, patted his face to make sure he regained some consciousness, and then shouted to the speeding ambulance, "Here! The child is here!"
Several medical staff rushed out of the car and quickly lifted the boy onto a stretcher. She stepped back and only glanced at them.
"Which team are you from?" a firefighter shouted at her.
But she didn't answer. After the boy was carried into the ambulance, she turned around and walked back into the fire.
This time, she was not trying to save people, but to find the truth.
The old man reappeared and whispered, "I saw two men in black... They were pouring oil and lighting a fire in the kitchen... I thought it was an illusion, but I didn't expect... someone really wanted to destroy this place."
Su Yao nodded silently and walked to the deepest part of the fire scene, into a half-collapsed kitchen. She knelt down and searched, using her spiritual power to dispel the burning flames. In the cracks between the blackened bricks, she found a bottle that had not been completely burned, and a piece of cloth.
The bottle still stank of industrial oil, and the edges of the cloth were seeping with combustion accelerant that had not completely burned out.
She carefully sealed the evidence into her spirit bag, stood up, and looked at the sky.
"Okay." She said softly.
She looked around and confirmed that there were no firefighters left in the danger zone. She then stopped a broken beam that was about to collapse from a distance, creating a safe path for the firefighters who were about to enter the scene.
After handing the arson evidence to the fire chief, she quietly left.
After the fire was completely extinguished, the media and rescue teams began to investigate the accident, but no one could tell who the firefighter was who first rescued the child.
Disappeared without a trace, as if it had never appeared.
After the old man confirmed that his grandson was fine, he returned to the Su family with Su Yao. In front of the Ziwei Pavilion, the old man said that he wanted to enter reincarnation. He had regrets in his heart and wanted to be his grandson's descendant in the next life to continue the relationship between grandfather and grandson.
He entered the keel umbrella and disappeared.
Su Ziyu couldn't see souls, and upon learning of the old man's choice, she was puzzled: "Sister, why would anyone still want to enter the cycle of reincarnation? What's so good about being human...birth, aging, sickness, death, the separation of loved ones, the reunion of those we hate, and the elusiveness of what we desire."
"He hasn't achieved perfection in this life, so he will continue to be reborn as a human being until he escapes the cycle of reincarnation." Su Yao said lightly.
“Where will I go after I achieve perfection?”
"Simply put, it means returning to the universe and reaching bliss... or returning to Earth to help other souls overcome their tribulations."
He looked at her, his eyes full of curiosity: "I still don't quite understand, can you explain it in detail?"
She put the dragon bone umbrella back into her palm and walked into Ziwei Pavilion.
Qingcheng poured her a cup of tea inside the house.
Su Ziyu said with a grin, "My dear sister, please tell me something... My mind has been a bit confused lately, and I've fallen into nihilism and can't get out. I find this view a bit like a conspiracy theory. There's no closed loop... It can only lead to endless pain."
