Chapter 164 Arousing Public Outrage

In one word, the crowd of onlookers was blown away.

Chen Yanling couldn't believe it and denied it, "Impossible!! My grandma is sick... She's clearly in the hospital!"

"Your grandmother is in the hospital." Su Yao's purple eyes were like mirrors, and her voice was calm but cold. "She passed away three months ago in the old house where your parents locked themselves. She starved to death."

Alive! Alive! Starving! Dead!

These five words were like a blow to the head!

Chen Yanling's steps were weak and she almost couldn't stand.

She was stunned with shock: "Starved to death... Impossible... How could it be possible..."

"What nonsense are you talking about!" He Meifang, who had been slumped on the ground, suddenly stood up and screamed hysterically, "Who are you? You're a human trafficker, right? You want to kidnap my daughter, right?"

The crowd immediately erupted in discussion:

"What is this woman saying?"

"She said that my grandmother starved to death? Is that true?"

"…How did she know?"

A middle-aged man in a flowered shirt looked at Su Yao questioningly: "You are not her relative, how do you know so much?"

Su Yao ignored him, took out his phone from his pocket without changing his expression, and started a video call.

The picture was connected, and Bai Ze's handsome and cold face appeared on the other side of the screen. He was standing in front of a dilapidated earthen brick house.

"Director Su, I'm at Guan Qiaofeng's old house." Bai Ze's voice remained steady: "Everyone here says that she starved to death."

The camera turned and stood next to Bai Ze. It was a woman in her sixties with gray hair and red eyes.

Chen Yanling held her breath: "Aunt Zhang? Isn't grandma still in the hospital?"

Aunt Zhang burst into tears: "Yanling, your grandmother... passed away a long time ago. She's been dead for three months!"

"It was me... I discovered it... I was in the county town attending my nephew's wedding. I smelled a foul odor when I came back, so I broke into the house and saw her... she had already starved to death in her bed..."

The crowd was furious:

"What? Starved to death?!"

"This is my biological mother, how could she do this?"

"This girl's parents are such bad people!"

Aunt Zhang wiped her tears and said, "The old lady was sick and bedridden. They locked her in the room and didn't give her any food for three days. How could something not happen? When I came back, I saw her body covered with maggots and her face had shrunk!"

"Chen Dajiang, He Meifang, you two will be struck by lightning!"

"Even their mothers can starve to death. You raise children only to sell them!"

He Meifang's face turned pale, and she suddenly rushed forward and tried to grab the phone: "What nonsense are you talking about! Aunt Zhang is crazy! She's talking nonsense!"

Chen Dajiang's face darkened as he angrily shouted, "I didn't let Yanling marry her son, so she held a grudge and fabricated stories to slander us!"

"Stop talking nonsense!" Aunt Zhang patted her chest on the other end of the video: "If I tell even a single lie, God bless my whole family! It's you who refused to support her in her old age and even starved her to death. No matter how poor my son is, he would never do such a thing!"

He Meifang's eyes rolled, and she clutched her chest in a pained expression. "Yes! My mom is indeed dead! But she died of illness... Before she died, she told us not to tell Yanling, as she was afraid it would affect her studies! That was the old lady's sincere wish!"

The crowd was in an uproar again:

"It's hard to say... maybe her mother really doesn't want to disturb the child?"

"That sounds like it..."

Su Yao slowly put away his phone and glanced at everyone.

She looked at Chen Yanling and said calmly, "Your parents starved your grandmother to death. Not only did they not want to take care of her, they also wanted to kill her to silence her."

Chen Yanling's face turned pale, her eyes filled with shock: "Murder to silence the witness?!"

"They want to stop your grandmother from telling you the truth because they secretly gave birth to a son three years ago."

After these words were spoken, the whole audience was silent for a few seconds.

"What? Another son?"

"Why are you hiding it?"

Su Yao continued, "The reason they didn't tell you is because they wanted to wait until you graduated from college, got married, and made money, and then give that son to you to raise."

"You are a tool, a shield, and the nanny they arranged for their son."

The crowd was suddenly filled with anger.

"Good fellow, raising a daughter is just for raising a son?"

"This isn't family affection, it's exploitation!"

"How vicious! Are these still biological parents?"

The color drained from He Meifang's face, and she cried out, "We were worried that she would be left without family... We wanted to give her a brother, a companion, so that she wouldn't be alone when we died..."

Chen Dajiang gritted his teeth and growled, "As parents, how could we harm her? Isn't she our biological daughter?"

An old man snorted coldly: "You call this family affection? This is called calculation!"

A middle-aged woman angrily scolded: "Stop using 'this is for your own good' as a pretext! My daughter is not your ATM!"

Su Yao walked up to Chen Yanling, leaned over to look at her, his expression cold and gentle: "You can choose to believe them, or you can choose to see if your life is arranged to death."

"Grandma is dead. She was the only person who treated you well when you were a child."

"Do you want to be like her, locked in a silent room and never be able to come out for the rest of your life?"

Chen Yanling's tears rolled down and she finally let out a whimper, as if the nightmare that had been weighing on her heart had finally broken free.

"Inhumane!" The crowd suddenly became agitated. A girl with delicate makeup squeezed in. Her eyes passed over Su Yao and went straight to Chen Dajiang and He Meifang. "So you are her parents?"

Ye Yuanyuan crossed her arms and sneered, "I've never seen anyone so shameless as this!"

"Giving birth to a son who's 20 years younger than me without telling my own daughter, and saying 'giving her a family', is nothing more than a burden!"
