Chapter 49 Su Yao Chinese Medicine Clinic

In the bustling and bustling Yaocheng Nanyuan Commercial Street, a unique three-story building stands quietly in a corner: Su Yao Chinese Medicine Clinic.

Three gold and two black large characters, vigorous and ancient, are engraved on a heavy nanmu plaque.

The front door is paved with bluestone and there are lights hanging under the corridor, which has the gracefulness of Jiangnan courtyards and the transparency of modern architecture.

The first floor is the waiting hall, the second floor is the acupuncture and massage room, and the third floor is the independent consulting room and pharmacy.

Today, Suyao Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic officially opened.

At dawn, Su Yao was already dressed in a new Chinese-style white gown, looking like a hermit in the dense mountains and forests. Her black hair was tied up, she was stunningly beautiful, with cold brows and no emotion in her purple eyes.

Standing behind her was an old man with white hair and a beard as white as snow. He was none other than the famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor in Yaocheng: Su Changhe.

"Girl, why are you standing here when you're not opening the shop to welcome guests today?"

Su Yao didn't say anything, just nodded lightly.

Su Changhe smiled, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes deep like river lines: "Alright, being cold is just your nature. I'm not here for anything else today, I'm here to add fuel to your fire."

As he was speaking, five people came to the door. They were dressed in plain clothes and had different expressions, but they were all calm and experienced.

As they walked into the museum, their eyes all turned to Su Yao, with different expressions of scrutiny and hidden dissatisfaction in their eyes.

"Grandpa, is this Miss Su Yao?" A middle-aged man walking in front clasped his fists and smiled. His tone was calm, but there was a hint of inquiry in his voice.

Su Changhe laughed heartily. "These five people are all disciples with solid foundations in my Su family's medical lineage. Now that you, Su Yao, want to establish your own school, you must convince others with your true abilities. These five are here to help you... but whether you can convince them is up to you."

As he spoke, he walked to Su Yao and introduced the five people one by one:

"Qian Huaisong, my eldest disciple, is an expert in 'differentiation of the five internal organs,' is well versed in the six meridians, and is skilled in harmonizing the spleen and stomach. Thirty years ago, he cured an officer in this province who was suffering from 'asthenia and vomiting,' and became famous in the area. His 'Warming the Middle and Tiaoping Decoction' is still circulated within the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine."

Qian Huaisong was in his early fifties, tall and thin, with an elegant face and a slightly bald forehead. He wore a pair of gold-rimmed reading glasses and carried a rosewood box in his hand, which contained his personal visual and listening tools.

He nodded to Su Yao, but his expression was restrained. There was a smile on the corner of his lips, but he did not lower his head.

"Chen Lanzhi, my third disciple, has been frail since childhood. She began studying medicine at the age of fifteen. She is well-versed in treating 'miscellaneous gynecological diseases' and is particularly skilled in regulating Qi and blood through the meridians. A few years ago, she helped a woman who had been infertile for six years to have a child through her 'Qi-Inducing and Meridian-Transforming Acupuncture'."

Chen Lanzhi was forty-seven years old. She wore a light green cheongsam and had her hair in a bun. She had a dignified and restrained temperament.

She looked at Su Yao with a complicated look, with a smile on her lips, but she seemed to be looking at a "little girl who was praised as a child".

"Ge Yunchuan, the fourth disciple, nicknamed 'Active Knife,' specializes in arthritis, paralysis, and injuries. His three-inch golden needle has the magical power of 'severing tendons by pressing acupoints,' earning him the nickname 'The Swift Golden Needle Hand.' Back in Xiangbei, he once treated a military commander, reuniting five broken bones."

Ge Yunchuan is forty-four years old, with a strong build, sharp eyes, and dark skin, as if he has been exposed to wind and rain for many years.

When he looked at Su Yao, there was an undisguised hint of contempt in his eyes.

"Mu Zhuqing, my fifth disciple, has loved plants and herbs since childhood, focusing on studying the 'Compendium of Materia Medica' and known as the outer disciple of Medicine King Valley. Her knowledge of medicinal herbs is vast, and she can distinguish the aromas of thousands of herbs with her eyes closed, and has treatments for both external injuries and internal deficiencies. Three years ago, she concocted a 'Returning Yang and Dissolving Yu Pill' that brought an elderly farmer suffering from lung cold and dampness back to life."

Mu Zhuqing was forty-six years old, with a gaunt face, a cold temperament, and extremely fair skin, looking like an ancient man who had walked out of a library.

She stood in the crowd, the quietest yet the most distant, looking at Su Yao as if she were looking at a young medical apprentice who was just beginning to test medicine.

"Zhang Shaohong, the second disciple, though the second oldest, has the most fiery temper. He has traveled extensively for twenty years, treating epidemics and combating poisons. He is an expert in treating 'epidemic diseases' and is particularly adept at identifying hidden toxins within external infections. He once collaborated with Western medicine to control malaria in the southwestern epidemic zone and was commended three times."

Zhang Shaohong was forty-eight years old, with dark skin, wearing a gray cloth robe, with an unshaved beard, and spoke with a local accent in a rough voice.

He glanced at Su Yao and snorted coldly: "Her?"

Su Yao did not respond, his eyes were as calm as still water.

Su Changhe, however, was not annoyed. He just smiled and turned to Su Yao and said, "They are here to support you today and to see your abilities. As an old man, I will not interfere too much in this clinic. If you can cure the patients with your methods, then they will naturally obey you. If not... then you will have to close down in front of them."

But my granddaughter had already said that regarding the consultation hours, she could come and go as she pleased, depending on her mood.

The main purpose of investing in a traditional Chinese medicine clinic, in addition to curing diseases and saving lives, is naturally to make money, promote the reputation of the Su family medical family, and even make it famous for generations to come.

He had to find a replacement for Su Yao from the beginning, and the Chinese medicine clinic had to be open every day. This was really nonsense.

Su Yao flicked his sleeves and said, "I opened the door only to save people, not to obey them. Let them see."

After saying that, he turned and went into the main clinic, leaving everyone in the room looking at each other in bewilderment.

Mu Zhuqing sighed softly: "After all, it's just the temper of a young lady."

Ge Yunchuan said coldly: "Although she is cold and arrogant, if she can really cure diseases and save lives, I will respect her; if she is just an empty reputation, don't blame me for leaving."

Qian Huaisong shook his head: "Let's wait and see. Since the old man dares to let her take charge, he must have a good foundation. It's just that..."

"It's just that we can't easily obey the orders of a little girl in her early twenties." Shen Lanzhi finished speaking for him, with disdain in her words.
