In the evening, King Zhu Su of Zhou set out a very lavish meal.
Surprisingly, many of these dishes were vegetarian. Although there were some meat dishes, they were mostly ordinary chicken, duck, and fish.
Surprisingly, many of the vegetarian dishes were unfamiliar to Zhu Yunwen, resembling wild vegetables. However, Prince Zhou, Zhu Su, enthusiastically introduced them to Zhu Yunwen, saying:
"I suppose His Highness the Crown Prince is getting a little tired of these delicacies on a regular basis, so I've prepared some healthier vegetarian dishes for today's banquet. Many of these vegetables are even unknown to most people."
But Your Highness, please rest assured, it is absolutely edible and completely non-toxic. After all, I ate quite a lot of it during my year in Yunnan, though I never cooked or prepared it.
Now that it's been cooked properly and seasoned, it's quite delicious. Please, Your Highness, have a taste!
Zhu Yunwen didn't mind at all, and smiled as he picked up some dishes he had never seen before and ate them. They were indeed quite delicious.
This also shows that King Zhu Su of Zhou was indeed a great man.
The fact that he was able to find so many edible wild vegetables is enough to show that he usually dares to try and taste these things.
Otherwise, they would never dare to bring so many dishes to the table.
This confirms something he said before: that he now spends his free time researching edible plants.
This statement is clearly not exaggerated.
To show his respect for the food and Zhu Su, Zhu Yunwen ate heartily.
Zhao Qingzhu, who was standing to the side, also thought it was delicious, and Zhu Su even said with a smile:
"The Crown Princess can also eat more of these vegetables, as they all have certain beauty and skin-nourishing effects."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Qingzhu started talking even more loudly, completely disregarding her image, which left Zhu Yunwen somewhat amused and exasperated.
After finishing his meal, Zhu Yunwen got up, intending to have another chat with Zhu Su. After all, he was pressed for time and might not be able to stay there any longer before leaving for another place.
So I might as well make the most of my time and chat with this respectable fifth uncle.
So after the meal, when they should have been resting, Zhu Yunwen still kept Zhu Su and Zhu Su's eldest son, Zhu Youdun, to stay and have some tea.
In the guest room where Zhu Yunwen was staying, Zhu Su held a teacup and chatted with Zhu Yunwen, their conversation revolving around the lives of ordinary people and the harsh conditions they faced in Yunnan.
This shows that the period of exile left a very deep impression on Zhu Su.
He often thought about the people there, but unfortunately, as the prince of Kaifeng, he could not leave his fiefdom at will.
Therefore, he was unable to go to Yunnan to help those poor people he cared so much about.
After talking with him at length, Zhu Yunwen prepared to formulate policies for Yunnan.
They also inquired about the actual situation of the people in Yunnan.
After that topic ended, Zhu Su talked about his views and understanding of many medical theories and prescriptions.
Furthermore, it provided valuable reference and suggestions for Zhu Yunwen's plan to establish official pharmacies throughout the Ming Dynasty.
Zhu Yunwen felt that talking to him about these things was indeed very valuable, and they really got along well.
After all, Prince Zhu Su of Zhou has been focusing on this matter all these years, and he is indeed much more professional than Zhu Yunwen.
In this regard, the advice given to Zhu Yunwen was also very important.
They chatted until very late before Zhu Yunwen turned his attention to Zhu Su's eldest son, who was now the heir apparent to the Prince of Zhou, Zhu Youdun.
Zhu Yunwen did have some impression of this person, after all, he had studied the history of the Ming Dynasty and had some impression of the talents of the Zhu family.
Especially in the early Ming Dynasty, the son of Prince Zhu Su of Zhou was said to be a talented person.
But Zhu Yunwen had somewhat forgotten what exactly he had done.
So he asked:
"By the way, I wonder what the Crown Prince of Zhou is interested in in his daily life?"
Prince Zhu Youdun, the heir apparent to the Prince of Zhou, immediately smiled and said, flattered:
"I am grateful for Your Highness's concern. I do enjoy opera and related arts. I apologize for being somewhat neglectful of my duties."
He was actually a little embarrassed to say this, but Zhu Yunwen smiled and said:
"There's nothing shameful about it. Everyone has their own hobbies and interests. By the way, you seem to have quite a bit of achievement in traditional opera as well."
Of course, this was not something Zhu Yunwen learned after arriving in this world.
Rather, it was what he knew from history.
After Zhu Youdun mentioned it, he remembered that Zhu Youdun and his father Zhu Su were both talented people. Zhu Su may have made great contributions to the world in the fields of medicine, prescriptions, and edible plants.
After all, the books he compiled were indeed useful.
Zhu Youdun was interested in opera, and he made significant contributions to the field.
In Zhu Yunwen's memory, when he read the history of the Ming Dynasty in his later years, he remembered that Zhu Youdun was a very talented playwright and lyricist.
He wrote many of the lyrics for operas, and they are quite classic.
It must be said that Zhu Su and his eldest son were both talented individuals. Although they were born into an imperial family, they did not have the same strong desire for power as other royal children.
