Chapter 36 Preparing to Make Delicious Food

This shows they really don't care at all; they not only cause you trouble, but they also want to make things difficult for you.

Zhu Yunwen smiled and said:

“That’s even better. They won’t get involved, and you can take the money. Quickly renovate my palace. It doesn’t matter if it’s small, as long as it’s habitable.”

The person in charge nodded solemnly, and Zhu Yunwen said no more and turned to leave.

He had always felt that if the palace was built to the scale the emperor had given him, it would be too big and a waste.

Anyway, he sees himself as the future emperor, and the palace is enough for him to live in.

There's absolutely no need to waste resources building such a large palace.

After leaving, one of the Imperial Guards behind Zhu Yunwen said to him:

"Your Highness, do you need our Embroidered Uniform Guard to investigate this matter, collect evidence, and then report to His Majesty?"

After all, the Ministry of Revenue did not allocate enough funds for the construction of your palace as His Majesty requested.

"As long as this is reported to His Majesty, a single word from him will resolve the matter. Furthermore, the Ministry of Revenue will certainly be punished accordingly!"

Upon hearing this, Zhu Yunwen shook his head and said:

"What I want is not to punish the Ministry of Revenue, but to completely get rid of some of those guys in the Ministry of Revenue."

Upon hearing Zhu Yunwen's words, the Imperial Guard who had spoken was somewhat puzzled, but wisely chose not to press the matter further.

He's just a guard; knowing too much isn't a good thing.

Zhu Yuntong, however, also had his own plans. Because he trusted these Imperial Guards, he said:

"Use the limited funds allocated by the Ministry of Revenue to renovate the existing mansion. After this matter is settled, I can invite the Emperor to visit the Prince's residence."

He'll see for himself then; there's no need for further explanation. Seeing is believing, and the resulting anger far surpasses anything anyone else hears.

Upon hearing Zhu Yunwen's words, the Imperial Guards immediately showed expressions of admiration.

They learned a lesson: sometimes it's better for someone else to say something than for you to say it yourself, and sometimes it's better to say nothing than for someone else to say it.

These Imperial Guards increasingly felt that Zhu Yuntong was different from ordinary people.

Being so lucky to be assigned to be his bodyguard is perhaps a really good opportunity.

The streets were bustling with people, and Zhu Yunwen thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of wandering back and forth on the lively streets.

You can feel the strong sense of everyday life here.

Although he had gained notoriety for killing the magistrate's son in the street last time...

Fortunately, most people still don't know Zhu Yunwen.

So he wouldn't attract attention when walking down the street.

After walking around for a while, Zhu Yunwen felt a bit hungry, so he went into a restaurant that looked pretty good.

The Imperial Guards were originally standing aside, but Zhu Yunwen ordered the other six Imperial Guards to leave, leaving these four to protect him, and then had these four Imperial Guards sit down and eat with him.

After ordering some dishes, Zhu Yunwen ate a little. Although the Ming Dynasty had abundant resources and some seasonings were available, the taste was still lacking.

Chen Ye has always been quite particular about food.

So, he decided that after returning to the palace, he would try to collect more seasonings and cook some truly delicious dishes according to his own taste.

Having made up his mind, he said to one of the Imperial Guards beside him:

"Later, please go and buy me all the various seasonings that are available in the capital."

The Imperial Guard nodded, ate a few bites of food, and hurriedly left.

He quickly took out a large bag of things, and when Zhu Yunwen opened it, he saw that there were indeed a lot of seasonings inside.

Some of these seasonings were quite obscure in the Ming Dynasty, and most people wouldn't use them.

In Zhu Yunwen's view, it was simply that they didn't know how to mix and match ingredients.

As someone who loves food from a later generation, I believe that if I make use of these so-called obscure seasonings, I can definitely make some really delicious dishes.

It's a pity that chili peppers hadn't been introduced to China in the early Ming Dynasty; otherwise, the deliciousness of food would have been greatly enhanced.

With all the seasonings in hand, Zhu Yuntong and his group went to the market to buy some pork tenderloin and pork chops, among other things.

There are also some vegetables.

He then returned to the palace and went straight to the imperial kitchen.

He plans to cook a delicious meal today.

When they arrived at the Imperial Kitchen, the chefs were puzzled to see Zhu Yunwen arrive.

Zhu Yunwen didn't waste any words and directly told the head of the imperial kitchen that he wanted a stove.

The steward didn't dare refuse and directly gave Zhu Yuntong a very good stove.

Zhu Yunwen took out the ingredients and prepared to cook a delicious meal. This scene greatly alarmed the head chef of the imperial kitchen, who quickly stepped forward and said:

"Your Highness, you mustn't do that! As the saying goes, a gentleman keeps away from the kitchen. Your status is so noble, how can you be cooking?"

Zhu Yunwen smiled and waved his hand, saying:

"No need for further words! Step back!"
