The inn was dimly lit and the buildings were somewhat dilapidated, but the innkeepers were dressed quite neatly and cleanly.
This seemed out of place with the dilapidated inn, which had clearly aroused Zhu Yunwen's suspicion.
Zhu Yunwen was a meticulous person, especially since he had left the Ming Dynasty for such a faraway place.
So he was very careful along the way, because he knew better than anyone that there were many people in this world who wanted him dead.
Therefore, he must always observe his surroundings to prevent himself from falling into any traps.
As it turned out, his worries were not unfounded, and his caution proved useful.
The dilapidated and old-fashioned state of the inn was completely at odds with the clothing worn by the waiters and other shop assistants.
After this caught Zhu Yunwen's attention, he began to observe other things.
For example, the candles on the counter are very new, unused, and have only been lit recently.
The dust on the table had just been wiped off, but it couldn't hide the traces that had accumulated over the years in other, unseen areas.
If someone regularly maintained this inn, even these corners wouldn't be so dusty.
Clearly, this was a deliberate and meticulous cleaning effort, but some unseen areas were overlooked.
When Chen Ye checked into the inn, he deliberately touched the bottom of the table, which was covered in a thick layer of dust.
Logically speaking, since the table is so clean, if anyone had sat on it or even just occasionally, there shouldn't be so much dust accumulating at the bottom.
This proves once again that the table surface has been cleaned, but the back side has been overlooked.
Chen Ye also smiled, and he saw the waiter's smile appear on his face as well. Both of their smiles were so unpredictable and so hard to fathom.
Soon, they moved into those rooms that looked dilapidated but were very clean.
Zhu Yunwen and Zhao Qingzhu shared a room, with guards standing at the door. Zhao Qingzhu smiled and said to Zhu Yunwen:
"I didn't expect there to be an inn here. Although it looks dilapidated, it's quite clean."
Chen Ye smiled, then smelled the blankets spread on the bed, and said:
"This quilt is obviously new; it doesn't look like it's been used in this inn for a long time."
Upon hearing Zhu Yunwen's words, Zhao Qingzhu immediately became cautious and then asked:
"you mean……"
Zhu Yunwen nodded:
"Yes, there's something fishy about this inn. Be careful."
Zhao Qingzhu was somewhat surprised; he hadn't noticed anything wrong with the inn.
But if Zhu Yunwen said there was a problem, then there definitely was a problem; that's beyond question.
So Zhao Qingzhu became more vigilant. Soon, everyone turned off the lights, and Zhu Yuntong and Zhao Qingzhu were silent in the room, as if they had fallen asleep.
Just then, a unique fragrance wafted from the inn. The fragrance wasn't very strong, but if you smelled it carefully, you could tell it was a subtle, delicate scent.
The aroma made the guards standing at Zhu Yunwen's door in the inn slowly begin to feel dizzy.
He then began to stagger and fall to the ground, but there was still no other movement inside the inn.
After those guards fell, no one else appeared, and the fragrance continued to permeate the entire inn.
About half an hour later, several men in black emerged from the darkness.
One of them quickly walked over to the fallen guards at Zhu Yunwen's door, carefully examined them, and after confirming that the guards had fainted, he turned back and nodded to the other black man.
The other men in black breathed a sigh of relief and then carefully opened the door to the room where Zhu Yunwen was staying.
After the door was opened, a group of men in black filed in and quickly entered the room.
They glanced at Zhu Yunwen and Zhao Qingzhu, who were sleeping on the bed, and then heard one of the men in black whisper:
"Tear him to pieces, make sure they die a truly horrible death."
As soon as he finished speaking, a group of men in black, carrying knives, rushed towards the bed.
As they approached, several gunshots rang out, and several black men fell to the ground screaming.
At the same time, a window not far away was smashed open, and well-equipped guards jumped in from outside, then pointed their guns at the remaining men in black.
This scene clearly frightened the men in black.
They clearly hadn't expected things to turn out so unexpectedly.
They thought everything was ready, but they never expected that Zhu Yunwen and his men had made preparations long ago.
At this moment, Zhu Yunwen on the bed slowly sat up, his face covered by a cloth, which only smelled of alcohol.
When Zhu Yunwen realized there was something wrong with the shop, he began to take precautions. When he heard the faint sounds of several guards falling to the ground outside, he immediately guessed that someone must have used some kind of drug.
So, he immediately soaked several pieces of cloth in alcohol and covered his and Zhao Qingzhu's faces with them.
In this way, a simple air filter is created, which can simply filter out harmful substances in the air.
Moreover, alcohol is quite stimulating, which can stimulate Zhu Yunwen and Zhao Qingzhu, keeping them sober.
The guards outside the windows had been secretly following the group the whole way, without being exposed to the main force, so that they wouldn't be easily wiped out if problems arose.
