Chapter 408 No More Laughter

The truth has come to light, and no one can question what Zhu Yunwen said.

They dared not question it, because every word Zhu Yunwen said must be true; they would not doubt it and dared not doubt it.

After Zhu Yunwen finished speaking, Zhu Yuanzhang angrily said:

"How hateful, how hateful! The arrogant Chechi Kingdom actually dares to assassinate even the grandson of the Ming Dynasty's Crown Prince? It's utterly despicable."

This matter cannot be let go so easily, Yunhu. What do you suggest we do?

Zhu Yunwen narrowed his eyes, then said to the King and Prince of Chechi:

“You have done many wrong things. Sending someone to kill me is just one of them. But I think the biggest mistake you made was listening to Prince Zhu Gang of Jin’s deception and coming to my Great Ming.”

This is tantamount to handing yourself over for death. I've heard a lot about this outside, and I agree with some of the points. For example, you said that we shouldn't let misunderstandings lead to war between the two countries.

After all, such an innocent war would cause countless civilians to suffer needlessly. Therefore, whoever made the mistake should bear the responsibility; it has nothing to do with the two countries or their people.

The King and Prince of Chechi Kingdom suddenly had a bad feeling.

Zhu Yunwen then continued speaking:

"You made the decision, you made the mistake, and now that you have come to the Ming Dynasty, ready to reap the bitter fruit of your actions, I will naturally grant your wish."

"Guards, take the King and Prince of Chechi away to the execution ground. After explaining the situation to the people, behead them immediately."

As soon as Zhu Yunwen finished speaking, the guards outside the hall rushed in. This scene completely stunned the King and Prince of Chechi.

They never imagined that, as kings and princes of a nation, they would be directly ordered to be dragged out and beheaded in the Ming Dynasty.

This is rather frustrating.

But the Ming Dynasty is not qualified either. They had no need to take the Chechi Kingdom seriously in the first place. Now that the King and Prince of Chechi Kingdom have made such a big mistake, it is already a very serious matter.

It could even trigger a war between the two countries, so killing only the instigator is clearly a very reasonable course of action.

As the king and prince of Chechi were dragged away by the guards, they kept shouting, sometimes begging for mercy, sometimes saying that they were the king and prince and that the Ming Dynasty had no right to deal with them.

A little while later, they humbly expressed their willingness to provide any possible compensation.

And they were willing to make Chechi Kingdom a vassal state of the Ming Dynasty...

In short, no matter how many kind words were spoken or how many threats were made, nothing could be changed in the end.

They were still dragged away by the guards and taken to the execution ground outside the palace, a place frequented by many common people.

When they arrived at Caishikou, the official in charge of the execution publicly explained everything to the people, who applauded and cheered.

They were not only happy that Zhu Yunwen was not dead.

They were even more furious that these two bastards from Chechi Kingdom dared to plot to kill their grandson.

This is practically going against the entire Ming Dynasty!

So, amidst the applause and cheers of the people, the king and prince of Chechi Kingdom were also beheaded.

With two heads bearing expressions of resentment, they rolled a long way on the ground.

This means that this farce is almost over.

Meanwhile, in the imperial court, Zhu Gang, kneeling on the ground, was trembling with fear.

He truly regretted it; he deeply regretted having such ambition in the first place.

If he had simply remained peacefully as the Prince of Jin in Taiyuan, none of this would have happened, and he wouldn't have gotten involved in such a mess.

Unfortunately, he thought he had seen an opportunity, and he thought his desires and ambitions could be satisfied.

But in the end, he found himself in such a hopeless dead end.

He truly didn't know what to do, and could only kneel there in despair, hoping that Zhu Yunwen would be lenient with him.

At this moment, Zhu Yuanzhang also looked at Prince Jin, Zhu Gang, and then said angrily:

"You beast, you actually cooperated with the enemy who killed my Ming Dynasty's crown prince just to get to that position? Such a treacherous act of inviting a wolf into the house is utterly despicable."

As he spoke, Zhu Yuanzhang descended the steps and then kicked his third son, Zhu Gang.

Despite his advanced age, Zhu Yuanzhang was still vigorous, and his kick was quite powerful, sending Prince Jin, Zhu Gang, rolling several times on the ground before he obediently knelt down again.

Zhu Yuanzhang then stepped forward and slapped Zhu Gang several more times. At that moment, he truly wished he could strangle his hateful and rebellious son.

Although family ties and blood relations are important, there are some things that should be upheld as bottom lines, not easily crossed.

But Zhu Gang did exactly that.

This reminded him of Zhu Di, the Prince of Yan, who had also secretly colluded with Goryeo, hoping to exploit the conflict between Goryeo and the Ming Dynasty to gain personal benefits.

Later, Zhu Yunwen went even further, joining forces with Goryeo and Dongdao to attack the Ming Dynasty.

Now, Zhu Gang has done something almost exactly like them.

This naturally infuriated Zhu Yuanzhang. So many cautionary tales had failed to make him see reality clearly, and he had been led down this path.

Zhu Yuanzhang was naturally furious, feeling utterly disappointed in his son.

No matter how Zhu Yuanzhang beat him, Zhu Gang dared not utter a word of rebuttal. He even hoped that Zhu Yuanzhang would beat him severely, half to death.
