"Tell me, is he usually this tired?"
As Zhu Yunwen spoke, he gave the homeowner a look that nearly made his legs go weak.
Who is this? The grandson of the Ming Dynasty's crown prince, can we really hide this from him?
What in this world can escape Zhu Yunwen's discerning eye?
With such a divine figure standing right in front of me, would I dare to speak recklessly?
"I dare not," so the person in charge of the house spoke up:
"Your Highness, our county magistrate only comes to the county office every few days. It's impossible for him to stay up all night, let alone spend an extra fifteen minutes in the county office."
If I had to say he was staying up late, it must be for some illicit affair with his concubine, definitely not for official business.
Upon hearing the head of the household office say this, the county magistrate's face turned dark.
He hadn't expected that this guy would be so terrified in front of Zhu Yunwen.
Zhu Yunwen, however, looked at the magistrate with a gloomy expression:
"You dare to lie to me?"
The magistrate's legs went weak and he knelt on the ground again, but Zhu Yunwen spoke again, saying:
"Don't kneel down, stand up and look at me."
The magistrate was completely bewildered, thinking, "Why am I not allowed to kneel? You're angry, so why can't I kneel?"
So he said:
"Your Highness, I am guilty. Perhaps I should kneel instead..."
Zhu Yunwen then asked:
"I ask you, do you feel more comfortable kneeling down, or are you more comfortable like this?"
The magistrate paused for a moment, then replied:
"It seems like kneeling would be more comfortable..."
He wasn't lying; it really was in that position. He was exhausted, covered in sweat, and his calves were cramping.
But under these circumstances, coupled with all sorts of fears and unbearable strain, having to persevere is actually less stressful than kneeling down.
The person in charge was also a little confused. Why didn't they make them kneel down?
Kneeling down would definitely be much more comfortable.
Although kneeling down means the matter is very serious.
Zhu Yunwen then spoke:
"Since you know that this is even more uncomfortable than kneeling, why did you set up the counter window like this?"
It wasn't until they heard Zhu Yunwen ask that question that they suddenly realized, "Good heavens, so this is what they were waiting for!"
So there was a purpose behind making them stand like that on purpose?
