Luo Yilian actually knew it in her heart, she just felt uncomfortable.
After that, Luo Chengzhang told her what to do after her marriage. Luo Yilian smiled and listened to him.
After Luo Shenyuan came back in the afternoon, Luo Yining told him that Lu Jiaxue had asked to escort the bride.
Luo Shenyuan asked back, "Did he say who must deliver it?"
"That's not the case." Yi Ning added mutton dumplings to his bowl and scooped a spoonful of sauce. "I declined. Father will probably invite my eldest sister-in-law. Her family has some background, and my father values that."
Luo Shenyuan ate his dumplings and said, "Let him be. Whoever is sent to escort the bride will do it. Have you packed up? After dinner, leave."
Yining’s small packages are all packed, including snacks, fruits, teapots and so on.
In the end, Luo Shenyuan didn't let her bring anything, but just asked her to put on a cloak and took her out to see the temple fair.
Although it was already dusk, the temple fair was still bustling with activity. Lanterns hung along the streets and alleys. People from all around, accompanied by their children, drove ox carts, pulled mules and horses, and the place was bustling with activity. There were also horse-drawn carriages from wealthy families, accompanied by servants. Along the way, there were all kinds of snacks: roasted melon seeds and beans, dried dates, dried persimmons, white sugar pear paste, and osmanthus candy.
It looked lively, so Yining asked people to go down and buy some.
Luo Shenyuan stopped her: "This street food..."
Yi Ning looked at him and said, "Didn't you always buy them for me when I was a kid?"
Luo Shenyuan glanced at her and said, "How could I be careless with the things I bought for you? They were all bought from big pastry shops. Do you think they looked like they were just bought casually on the street?"
Yining's heart moved slightly, and he said with a smile: "Then don't buy it!"
She couldn't get out of the carriage. The snow outside had been trampled and melted, casting a red shadow on the damp ground. She sat beside him, the two of them close together, the carriage dim. Sitting like this, quietly leaning against him, she felt as if he were warmer, her breathing clear and audible, yet Yi Ning dared not move an inch.
Luo Shenyuan stopped the car and whispered a few words. A moment later, a guard came trotting over, holding a bag of sweet osmanthus candies. The candies were still warm from being cut, burning their hands.
He handed it to her and said, "Eat it. This is the only one you can eat."
In fact, Yining didn't really want to eat it. The hot sweet osmanthus candy smelled very nice. She just ate a piece and looked up to ask him: "This is quite delicious. Do you want some?"
"Is it delicious? Let me try it," he said.
Yi Ning picked up a piece of sweet osmanthus candy and was about to place it near his lips when the curtain suddenly dropped. In the darkness, something warm pressed against her lips, and Yi Ning was a little stunned. It was only a moment, surrounded by him in the small space, unable to see anything clearly, but the fragrance of the sweet osmanthus candy lingered between her lips and teeth.
"It's quite sweet," he said.
Yining heard the lively noise of the lion dance outside, her hand held by his, and wondered why he was so calm, as if nothing had happened! She didn't eat any of the sweet-scented osmanthus candy in her hand. He didn't even want to buy her candy just now!
When they arrived in front of the Shanxi Chamber of Commerce, Luo Shenyuan led her off the carriage. Inside the chamber, one could see revolving lanterns, lion dances, and sugar figurines. On the other side, one could see the lively water and land rituals at the temple. Most of the dignitaries who wanted to see the temple fair came here.
Yi Ning didn't talk much to him on the way. The shopkeeper came out to personally welcome Luo Shenyuan upstairs. The second floor was partitioned, and the antique shelves on the partition were filled with things like asparagus fern. Yi Ning and Luo Shenyuan went upstairs one after another and saw a partition screen next to it. But when they opened one of the doors, the person sitting inside looked familiar. Yi Ning took a closer look and found it was Xie Yun! The handsome man next to him was Cheng Lang or someone else.
The two of them were also here with their servants to enjoy the temple fair, but they didn't notice them.
Come to think of it, the Cheng family is also nearby and doesn’t live far away.
Luo Shenyuan saw Xie Yun sitting next to Cheng Lang, so he turned his head and asked Yining, "Do you want to go say hello?"
"Forget it." Yi Ning didn't know what to say to them, so she pulled Luo Shenyuan and prepared to leave.
But at this moment, Xie Yun turned her head and noticed them. She stood up and smiled at Luo Yining: "Master Luo, Mrs. Luo San, what a coincidence. Would you like to come over and sit with us?"
When Cheng Lang heard Xie Yun's words, his hand holding the tea became slightly stiff.
