Chapter 25

After treating the wound, Luo Yiyu calmed down. After wiping the blood with a handkerchief and seeing that the bleeding had stopped, she shook her head and said, "Madam, it's okay. No need to bandage it."

When you like someone, your heart is filled with twists and turns. Even if he doesn't look at you when he passes by, you can't help but think about him...

Luo Yiyu kept thinking to herself, didn't he praise her clothes yesterday? Why didn't he look at her today? Could it be that the clothes she wore today were not beautiful?

Today she was wearing a cherry pink long jacket, a gauze top, and a light green embroidered skirt. It was definitely better than yesterday...

Or maybe he didn't even notice he was there.

Yi Ning watched Luo Yiyu quietly from the side, feeling increasingly disappointed. Luo Yiyu was young after all, so she could understand why she did such a thing. However, looking at her obsessed expression, it was clear that she hadn't given up on Cheng Lang at all. In other words, Cheng Lang hadn't decisively rejected her either.

Cheng Lang has always been adept at these things.

He was nice to other women, but it never lasted long. He seemed to have some affection for everyone, but he was also completely heartless. Why did Luo Yiyu have to mess with such a man?

Yi Ning sat down next to Luo Yi Yu and asked her softly, "Fourth sister, are you okay with your injury?"

Little Yining rarely spoke to her fourth sister, which was understandable. Both of them were proud and stubborn, so it was a relief that they didn't end up arguing. Yining went out of her way to show concern for Luo Yiyu, and even Luo Yilian, who was buried in her needlework, raised her head.

Luo Yiyu sucked her fingers lightly and said, "Nothing." She didn't like Yining and didn't want to talk to Yining.

Yi Ning smiled at her and handed her the embroidery frame. "Fourth sister, I've embroidered a lotus flower on it, and I want to embroider a poem on it. But I don't know how to embroider words, so please help me. I want to embroider 'Exquisite dice and red beans, my deep longing for you, do you know?' Do you know these two lines of poetry?"

When Luo Yiyu heard this, his whole body trembled, as if he was soaked in cold water, and he woke up completely.

She looked at Yining in disbelief, speechless for a long time. How could Luo Yining know... How could she know!

Yi Ning turned to the nanny and said, "Mammy, can I go downstairs with Fourth Sister to rest for a while?"

Seeing that Luo Yiyu looked unhappy, the nanny waved her hand and asked them to leave.

When they reached the back room and Yi Ning closed the door, Luo Yi Yu moved her lips and asked softly, "Why did Seventh Sister insist on embroidering these two lines of poetry?"

Yi Ning sighed that she was not smart enough. Was she really going to wait until she saw the coffin before she cried?

"Don't you like these two lines, Fourth Sister?" Yi Ning looked at her and said with a childlike smile, "I quite like this poem. It makes me feel comfortable when I read it. But I miss you so much. Today, only I can see it. What if someone else sees it tomorrow? Have you thought about it, Fourth Sister?"

Luo Yiyu's face turned red and white, and the look in his eyes when he looked at Yining was almost incredulous.

Yi Ning paused again and said, "I'm doing this for Fourth Sister's own good."

Luo Yiyu clenched the handkerchief in her hand, suppressing the trembling in her heart. After a long while, she said, "You...you mustn't tell anyone."

"As long as Fourth Sister stops being so confused." Yining's voice was very gentle, revealing a faint strength. "Why would I tell anyone? Fourth Sister, you should also think about our other sisters. If this matter gets out, what will Grandmother and Aunt do?"

The girls only saw the two people whispering, but couldn't hear what they were saying.

But Luo Yiyu felt that her words were like heavy bells, which made her face turn red with each one.

It's not that she didn't know all this, but she was just hoping that no one else would find out. But she didn't expect Luo Yining to find out.

If Luo Yining had told her grandmother, or told Chen... one can imagine what would have happened to her.

"I...I'm confused." Luo Yiyu bit her lip tightly. "Just don't tell anyone, sister."

Luo Yiyu had always been proud, and it was rare for her to yield. She even looked at Yi Ning with a pleading look. Yi Ning wasn't the type to hold onto someone's faults, and although they had a grudge, she was willing to do her a favor.

"Second Master Cheng... is Fourth Sister so fond of him?" Yining asked softly.

Luo Yiyu looked at her little seventh sister with a distant gaze: "I do like him... I think he likes me too. But I told my mother, and she didn't agree."

She didn't know why she was saying these things to a half-grown child. Maybe there was really no one around to talk to.

Yi Ning couldn't sympathize with her because she was so audacious. If someone discovered this, all the girls in the Luo family would be implicated. But Yi Ning didn't blame her either; she was just a child.

"I understand. I will keep it a secret for you, Fourth Sister." Yi Ning smiled and said, "Don't worry, Fourth Sister. As long as you don't make mistakes in the future, it will be fine."

Luo Yiyu nodded.

As long as Yining doesn't tell anyone about this, everything will be fine.

As a result, her gaze towards Yining was less hostile.

Having achieved her goal, Yi Ning stopped talking to Luo Yiyu. As the sun grew hotter, Old Lady Luo told them to go back and eat the watermelon they had chilled that morning with well water. Cut into small pieces and placed on a glass plate, drizzled with sugarcane juice, it tasted sweet and cool.

The brothers had already paid their respects and left. Old Lady Luo asked Yining to sit next to her and eat watermelon while she taught her to recite the Book of Songs line by line. Yining looked at Old Lady Luo's aged features and snuggled into her arms.

Mrs. Luo smiled dotingly and said, "The weather is so hot, do you still want to rely on me?"
