Chapter 74

Yi Ning turned around and tried to leave, but she heard someone calling her from behind. "Yining, wait a minute!"

Yi Ning turned around and saw Duke Yingguo, Wei Ling, standing behind her, accompanied by a group of guards. He strode towards her, looked at her and smiled, saying, "I saw everything."

"So what if you saw it?" Yi Ning raised her head and said calmly. She didn't care whether she was seen or not. Then she saw the Duke of England slowly kneeling in front of her. She couldn't help but take a step back. Wei Ling just took a piece of grass from her skirt and helped her to tidy it up. "Look, your skirt is not even fixed."

Yining looked at the piece of grass in his palm with a flickering eye.

Since he is the Duke of England, why would he do this? Yi Ning had never known Wei Ling, even though he was her biological father. But even if he was a girl he raised personally, he wouldn't treat her so well. Besides, his status was not low! "What are you doing?" Yi Ning asked.

"You've grown up so much, and I only just realized you existed." Wei Ling saw her eyes were slightly round, and her gaze at him was still that unfamiliar, inquiring one. He thought his daughter was truly adorable. His expression shifted slightly, and he said, "Daddy has always wondered what it would be like if I really had a daughter. Yining, I'll take you away. No one will dare to say anything to you from now on, absolutely no one."

Yi Ning looked at Wei Ling's face and saw the mole on his eyebrow, which was in the same position as her own mole.

She suddenly felt a sense of intimacy.

"Duke Yingguo, the bricks are cold and will hurt your knees. Don't half-kneel like that." Although Yining couldn't call Duke Yingguo "father", his tone became softer.

"What's the big deal?" Wei Ling found it amusing to talk to her this way. Otherwise, being so much taller than her, he would always seem condescending. Being shorter than her, it seemed like her guard was less heavy. "When I came here, I wanted to ask your old father to let you go. I was half-kneeling, because it wouldn't be right for me to just take you away. Besides, I'm a martial artist, so this isn't a big deal."

Yi Ning almost thought she had misheard. Wei Ling had actually surrendered to Luo Chengzhang just to take her away? She had assumed that these nobles, like her, were all high and mighty. In her previous life, Yi Ning had never understood these people. She had thought Lu Jiaxue was open-minded, but he turned out to be calculating and cold. She had thought Cheng Lang was just an innocent child, but he disregarded a woman's reputation and indulged in worldly affairs.

She sighed, looked at Wei Ling and said, "I lost my mother when I was six months old, and the father I thought was my father is not my father. I don't know how to stay in the Luo family..."

In reality, Luo Chengzhang truly chilled her heart. Although she knew his father was quite confused, she was always extremely filial to him. But Luo Chengzhang suddenly turned against her without a trace of mercy. If Luo Shenyuan hadn't intervened, she might have been kicked out of the mansion. This was, I guess, a case of turning one's back on someone as quickly as turning the pages of a book.

Wei Ling saw that she looked young and cute, but his eyes revealed a chill. He couldn't help but sigh and said, "You can blame me. If it weren't for me, perhaps your mother wouldn't have died so early..."

But Yi Ning interrupted him: "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't exist."

Wei Ling looked up and heard his girl suddenly ask, "Duke Yingguo, you said you'd take me away. When are we leaving?"

Wei Ling suddenly looked up and looked at Yining in disbelief. Then an indescribable joy welled up in his heart.

"You... As long as you want, of course you can leave anytime, the sooner the better." Wei Ling said with a smile. He breathed a long sigh of relief, "I think tonight is fine!"

Yining finally smiled. This biological father was a little too impatient. "Please come tomorrow." She bowed slightly to him before walking back to Luming Hall.

Yi Ning had considered this matter carefully, and she didn't agree to Wei Ling out of the blue. Indeed, the Luo family no longer had a place for her, and returning with the Duke of Ying was the best option. Besides, she was now Little Yi Ning; no one knew her former identity, and no one would ever know.

She would keep this secret deep in her heart, and would not reveal it even if she met those people again. Then, to them, she would be nothing more than the Duke of England's biological daughter, and no one would know who she really was.

Wei Ling looked at Yining's little figure walking away, feeling a little excited.

He planned to go back and think about it carefully. Picking up his daughter also required a grand ceremony. Anyway, he only said that he was picking up the adopted daughter of the Luo family, and no one knew who she was!

When he returned to the Duke of England's mansion with such pomp and ceremony, people realized that he had brought his biological daughter back with him. No one dared to look down on the new young lady from the Duke of England's mansion!

Wei Ling turned around with his hands behind his back and whispered to his guards to quickly prepare things.
