Chapter 95

Songzhi asked in a low voice: "Miss, do you want to send someone to find the young master..."

Yi Ning said, "Just ignore him. When he comes back, no one should pay attention to him."

She took a book and practiced calligraphy. Ting'er returned in the evening, just as the sun was setting. Finding her sister ignoring him, she continued practicing her own calligraphy, ignoring whatever he said. Ting'er circled her bed twice, then ran out and brought back some apricots, placing them on her table.

Yining still looked indifferent. Tingge'er went out again, this time picking up a few dates and placing them on her table.

Seeing that she still ignored him, Ting'er put candies, shortbread, and sesame cakes on her table like an ant moving things. Finally, he got impatient and said, "Don't be angry!"

Yi Ning raised her eyelids and said, "Put your hand over here." Ting Ge'er pursed his lips and reached out with a grieved look. Yi Ning took the scissors to cut his nails. He leaned against his sister, feeling the sweet and soft fragrance. As the cutting continued, he felt sleepy. When Yi Ning finished cutting his nails, she found that the child had fallen asleep against her. He was still the most well-behaved when he was asleep.

She sighed and let Tong's mother take him down to sleep.

Cheng Lang no longer taught him his lessons. As a doctor in the Ministry of Personnel, he was not supposed to teach him. Wei Lingxin hired a teacher for Ting'er, and he had to get up early every day to go to school.

But tomorrow is a day off, so he doesn't have to get up early. Ting'er slept until dawn, thinking about how he had angered her last night, and wanted to pester her to play chess.

Cheng Lang taught him how to play chess. Ting Ge'er actually took to it and quickly became hooked. The brother and sister grabbed a chessboard and set up the game in the back room.

How could Ting'er be a match for Yining? He was defeated in just a few moves. He held the chess cup with a frown on his face, unable to figure out how to make the chess pieces move. Yining was watching Ting'er struggling when he suddenly heard a voice behind him: "Sister Yining, are you bullying a child?"

Yi Ning turned around and saw Cheng Lang standing behind her. It had been a while since she'd seen him. Today, he was wearing the official robes of a fifth-rank official, a white silk midi and a dark red robe. She'd never seen him dressed so formally before, and he looked even more handsome and elegant. There was a slight hint of fatigue between his brows, though. It looked like he'd just returned from the Six Ministries.

Ting'er immediately ran over and pulled his arm: "Sister, you ate all my chess pieces!"

Cheng Lang was just stopping by to take a look, so he walked over and took a look at the chess game, and he knew how strong Yining was. He smiled and said, "Sister Yining, it's not fair to play against Ting-er. Play with me."

His hand had already pinched out a pure white chess piece from the chess cup.

Yining was of course still confident in his chess skills. He smiled and extended his hand, saying, "Cousin, please take a seat."

Ting'er's chess moves were already fatal, and Yi Ning could have won in three moves. After Cheng Lang sat down, he only made a few moves, and Yi Ning's face straightened up. This guy is a master.

Then she heard Cheng Lang ask her, "I heard that your uncle adopted you as his adopted daughter?"

Yi Ning paused slightly as she lifted her head, only to see Cheng Lang's expressionless face. She said calmly, "Yes, I admit it. What's wrong?"

"Do you know why he adopted you as his adopted daughter?" Cheng Lang asked again.
