Yuna raised her head and looked at Merlin with her watery eyes. She didn't expect Merlin to say such a thing. However, what Merlin said was not wrong. As long as her second brother was killed, she would still be the controller of the Royal Chamber of Commerce.
But can this really be done? Behind his second brother is his father, Prince Arno of the Star Empire. That man has been planning for so long and will never let such a thing happen.
Kotora seemed to have heard a particularly funny joke. He looked at Merlin mockingly, his brows full of disdain. He pointed his staff at Merlin and said, "Merlin, this may be the funniest joke I have ever heard. Tell me, are you going to kill me here?"
"What else? To be honest, I've never seen a guy as stupid as you. You obviously have an absolute advantage. You can just hide in the back and wait for your subordinates to complete everything. Why do you have to step out from behind the scenes and stand in front of the stage?"
Merlin spoke to Kotora in a mocking tone. He smiled and continued, "Is it because of your arrogance? Do you want to put on a victorious attitude in front of your sister and vent all your forbearance over the years? If this is the only reason, you are really disappointing."
After Kotora heard Merlin's words, the veins on his forehead were exposed, and his angry expression made him look even more hideous. He looked directly at Merlin, his eyes flashing with disdain and mockery, as if he was looking at a fool who didn't know his place.
"You are so naive, Merlin," Kotora said coldly, "Do you think you can change anything with just your words? You are just a first-year loser who doesn't understand what real power is."
His voice was full of confidence. As a fifth-level magician, Kotora knew how powerful he was. In his opinion, he could easily deal with Merlin and all the first-year students of the Arcane Academy. Even if these people joined together, they would not be a match for him, a fifth-level magician.
However, Merlin was not overwhelmed by Kotora's momentum. He stood there and sneered in response: "Your little tricks are not worth mentioning in my eyes. Kotora, I don't feel the so-called power in you."
In Merlin's mind, Kotora's threat level was far less than that of the deacon of the Ancient God Cult whom he fought in the Monster Mountain Range. The pressure and fear that the latter gave him were incomparable.
"Listen," Kotora said patiently, with a hint of cold admonition in his tone, "I don't want to hurt you. As long as you obey me, I won't touch a hair on your head. The people behind me just want to get something from you, and you only need to cooperate to gain the friendship of the Royal Chamber of Commerce and the Royal Family of the Star Empire. Aren't these benefits worth your consideration?"
Merlin responded without hesitation: "Go away, don't be so self-indulgent in front of me. I won't trust someone who can even calculate his own sister for the sake of profit." He turned around and stood in front of Yuna, saying firmly, "It's better to cooperate with Yuna than with you."
Kotora thought Merlin was crazy. He said coldly, "Cooperate with my sister? Haha, don't make me laugh, Merlin, she has nothing left!"
"Once I beat you down, she will have everything, Kotora. Your greatest folly is standing in front of me!"
Yuna stood beside Merlin, her eyes full of confusion and anxiety "Merlin, why are you helping me?"
Merlin rolled his eyes, thinking Yuna was talking nonsense. Help her? Didn't you see that your brother's target was me? I was trying to save myself. Of course, Merlin wouldn't say that. After all, his future plans required Yuna's cooperation, or to be more precise, the Royal Chamber of Commerce behind Yuna.
Merlin naturally wouldn't say what he really thought, and only answered in a gentler tone: "Why so many whys? If you are caught by Kotora, your life will be over. No matter what, you have to get through this difficult time first."
"But..." Yuna's voice trembled, and her inner struggle was obvious, "You have to know that behind him is my father, the prince of the Star Empire!"
Merlin interrupted her, his tone firm and direct: "So what? Even if I don't attack Kotora, will he let us go? Or, if we kneel down and surrender now, can we get forgiveness from this scumbag? I don't believe what he says. Stop it. In addition to beating him up, is there any other way now? If you do, then do as you wish."
Merlin readily expressed his willingness to listen to any suggestions from Yuna, without a trace of doubt in his tone, as if he was already prepared for his future choices.
Yuna's heart tightened, and a trace of emotion and shock flashed in her eyes, as if something was touched. Merlin's determination warmed her heart, but at the same time, the continuous betrayal of people around her made her hesitant.
Just as Yuna had always believed, kindness and trust were always accompanied by various reasons, but what she felt from Merlin was unconditional trust, as if this man's kindness and trust had no reason at all.
Thinking rationally, Merlin should be won over by her brother now. After all, her life will not be in danger and she can also get her brother's support. If it were someone else, they would definitely do the same. After all, there is no value in her anymore. Royal Chamber of Commerce? If she desperately tries to defeat her brother, a powerful fifth-level domain mage, she might still have a chance to take control of the Royal Chamber of Commerce, but it is only a possibility.
She had no bargaining chips, but her brother had everything.
If you can't see the reason, you can't believe it easily. If you rashly reveal your inner thoughts, the consequences will be disastrous.
Wasn't it because she trusted others too much that she ended up like this? The same mistake should not be made.
However, her mouth opened involuntarily. Although her heart told her to stop, she was still desperate and wanted to grasp the last straw.
Tears flowed down Yuna's cheeks, and tears as big as beans rolled down Yuna's eyes. She cried like a wronged child, "I want it too, I want freedom too!"
"You two haven't finished your conversation, have you? Merlin, the stupidest decision you've ever made is to stand next to my sister." Kotora was tired of the scene in front of him. He waved the staff in his hand, and flames enveloped the entire high-end dormitory like a barrier.
"You two are just commodities anyway. Commodities should behave like commodities. Just demonstrate your own value!"
Kotora sneered and pointed the staff in his hand at Merlin.
