Chapter 308: Ed: The sound of nature!

"Here's today's breakfast. It's your favorite steamed buns with milk flavor, and the taro bubble milk tea you've been craving for." Ed resisted the urge to sleep, forced a smile on his face, and handed over the breakfast. His tone was calm and without any emotional ups and downs.

Angelica stood there, tall and elegant, but at this moment a trace of regret and helplessness flashed in her eyes. She looked up at Ed, feeling mixed emotions, as if she had shot herself in the foot.

She never thought that this seemingly ordinary boy would actually persist for ten days despite her casual request. She hesitated, then held out her hand...

This action was like throwing a huge rock into a calm lake, instantly causing an uproar among the surrounding students.

"Ten days!"

"Angelica has accepted breakfast from this kid Ed for ten consecutive days!"

"Damn it, it doesn't make sense if we're not together!"

I don’t know who started it, but a loud shout of “Together!” instantly ignited the enthusiasm of the students around. Then, there were cheers and jeers one after another, and words like "be together" and "accept him" were heard continuously, as if to overturn the entire campus.

But Ed seemed not to hear it, his mind had already drifted away. These days, he spent almost all his savings to meet Angelica's requirements. Ed was born into a common family and was not well off, so he was embarrassed to ask for money from his sponsor, Baron Farmien.

So, apart from attending classes every day, he would rush to the factory assembly line in the back mountain to work and earn money like a tireless spinning top. Fortunately, the knowledge he learned in the alchemy class allowed him to cope in the factory.

In fact, Ed was not without complaints. Angelica's "special treatment" made him feel like a clown being made fun of, and his dignity was ruthlessly trampled underfoot.

But he understood that with his current strength, he could not compete head-on with Angelica, a noble. So, he secretly planted a seed of hope in his heart, which was the upcoming points challenge.

In order to surpass Angelica in this competition, Ed put aside all his thoughts, consulted teachers in the academy, combined his own ideas, constantly improved his magic skills, and painstakingly researched many unique ways to control and save magic power.

The hard work day and night these days left deep marks of fatigue on Ed's face. Thick dark circles hung under his eyes, which were the evidence of countless late nights; his face looked pale due to lack of sleep, as if it had lost its vitality, coupled with his slightly stiff expression, he looked like a puppet that had been drained of all its energy.

But at this moment, Angelica was so immersed in her own emotions that she had no time to pay attention to these changes in Ed. In her opinion, the seemingly indifferent smile on Ed's face was like a silent coercion at this moment, which put her in an extremely embarrassing situation. She felt that she had been completely tricked by this boy and her original plan was messed up.

Angelica gritted her teeth, the shame and anger in her heart was like a volcano about to erupt, and she could no longer suppress it. She stretched out her hand and exerted force, slapping the breakfast that Ed handed to her away.

The breakfast bag broke, the milk-flavored steamed buns scattered all over the floor, the milk tea also spilled out, and an awkward atmosphere filled the air.

Angelica's cheeks turned red like ripe apples, and she scolded sharply, "You are really annoying!"

This sudden scene stunned the students around. Their eyes were wide open, their mouths were wide enough to fit an egg in, and their faces were filled with shock and disbelief.

The girls covered their mouths with their hands, as if they couldn't believe what was happening before their eyes; the boys began to whisper to each other, full of curiosity and gossip about this unexpected farce.

"Ed! You have to understand the difference in status between us. You are just a poor boy from a commoner family. It is a blessing for you to be able to study in the Arcane Academy. I advise you not to waste your precious time on such boring things. You should concentrate on your studies so that you can have a good place to settle down in the future!"

Angelica snorted coldly, turned around and walked away quickly, her pretended angry voice still echoing in the air: "You don't have to bring me breakfast anymore!"

Belinda stood by and witnessed it all. She looked at the "heartless" Angelica, and then looked at Ed who lowered his head and stared silently at the mess on the ground, her heart filled with pity.

She walked forward and said softly, "Ed, I don't know what happened to Angelica today. She is not like this usually. Maybe she is in a bad mood. Don't take it personally. I apologize to you on her behalf."

After saying that, Belinda hurried over to Angelica, still complaining in a low voice: "Angelica, didn't you go too far this time? You rejected Ed in public like this, and you were so ruthless. Those students who were watching will definitely talk about it. Even if you don't like him, you should consider his feelings. After all, he is sincere."

"So what! I don't care at all!" Angelica's face was full of annoyance. She walked into the teaching building without looking back. The sound of her heels hitting the ground seemed to tell of her inner anger and anxiety.

The students watching were immediately in an uproar, and began to discuss Angelica's ruthlessness enthusiastically. The boys shook their heads and sighed, expressing their deep sympathy for Ed's experience; the girls gathered together, chattering and accusing Angelica of being arrogance and indifference. Everyone was immersed in this unexpected storm and unable to extricate themselves.

However, Ed, who was at the center of the storm, remained silent. He slowly squatted down and silently picked up the steamed buns scattered on the ground one by one. His eyes were focused and calm, as if all the noise around him had nothing to do with him.

Then, he gently waved his hands and cast water magic to clean up the spilled milk tea on the ground without leaving a trace.

When other students saw how calm Ed was, they couldn't help but feel sad. Their faces showed expressions of dismay, some shook their heads and sighed helplessly, while others could not hold back their inner urge to go forward and comfort the poor boy, fearing that his fragile heart would completely collapse at this moment.

Little did they know that at this moment, Ed's heart was already in a completely different world. He lowered his head, and beneath his seemingly lonely expression, he actually hid a heart of ecstasy.

What did Angelica say just now? No need to deliver breakfast anymore?

To Ed, this was like heavenly music. He cheered in his heart, like a prisoner who had regained his freedom.

In this way, he no longer has to stay up late every day to work the night shift in the factory to make money. The precious time saved can be used to do more meaningful things.

He can focus more on studying the mysteries of magic, devote himself to improving his strength, and make the final sprint for the points challenge at the end of the month. He firmly believed that this time, he would be the first place!
