Chapter 508: Moon Saint
Esther smiled slightly, gently put down the kettle, and reached out to rub Stacy's hair: "Silly child, how could you hide it from me? You were talking about the academy, and you couldn't avoid Merlin in three sentences. It must be someone you like, right?"
Stacy was stunned for a moment, lowered her head in shame, and her heartbeat quickened.
She didn't expect her mother to be so sensitive to her thoughts. She thought to herself, "Have I told you that many times Merlin? Is it really that obvious?"
Esther smiled gently, and her heart was filled with happiness as she looked at her shy appearance.
She gently hugged Stacie, showing a warm smile, and said softly to the distance: "Dear, my daughter has someone she likes, a cute human boy, ask her to bring him to meet you one day."
Stacy was so scared that she quickly covered her face, and shyly crawled into her mother's arms, whispering, "Mom, don't do this!"
Together, they looked toward the other side of the garden, where the ground was surrounded by colorful flowers, and a few white lilies looked particularly beautiful in the sun.
In the middle of the flowers stands an ancient tombstone, engraved with a name and some life stories of the deceased.
Vines grow around the tombstone, as if silently guarding this quiet place.
Buried under that tombstone was Stacy's father, the eternal lover in Esther's heart - a man who had fought bravely as a bridge between elves and humans.
Every year, Stacey pays tribute to her father here and recalls the warm times she and her father had.
Stacy and Esther stood side by side in front of the tombstone, staring at the name on it, and the atmosphere instantly became quiet and solemn.
Esther gently pulled Stacy into her arms, silently feeling her heartbeat. They both understood that no matter how time passed, the longing for the deceased would always be engraved in their hearts.
"I know, Dad wants you to be happy too." Esther said softly, her warm eyes passing through Stacy and looking into the distance.
Staci lowered her head and nodded slightly, with a hint of determination in her eyes.
She knew that she lived not only for her father's memory, she also had her own dreams and future, and the man named Merlin might become a part of her new life.
She gently stroked her father's tombstone and whispered, "I will do better, Dad. Please bless me."
As the whisper drifted in the breeze, the mother and daughter stood quietly in the garden, feeling the gentleness and passing of time.
Esther looked at the graceful Stacy, her eyes full of love and worry, and slowly said: "Stacy, although you are a half-elf, you have the noble blood of the Isabella family flowing in your body. Now you are in love with Merlin. Although he is the high priest of the Moon Temple, he is a human after all. It is not easy for you to be together."
Stacie frowned slightly, a trace of worry flashed in her eyes, and she asked softly, "Mother, why is it so difficult? Isn't true love enough to overcome these obstacles?"
Esther sighed softly, with a hint of bitterness in her eyes: "Child, because of me, the Isabella family has been disgraced. Isabella will never allow such a thing to happen again. There is nothing wrong with being with the person you love, but the honor and tradition of the Isabella family cannot be trampled on lightly. In addition, there is already an example like me..."
Stacy recalled the hardships her parents had gone through, the cold eyes of the tribesmen, and the pressure from the family. Every scene made her feel heartbroken.
Esther gently stroked Stacy's face and said softly, "I never regret meeting your father. Every moment of the days I spent with him was like a bright star, lighting up my life."
As she spoke, she placed her forehead against Stacy's, closed her eyes, and continued earnestly, "Mother doesn't want to stop you from pursuing love. She just wants you to understand that this road is full of thorns, and you must be prepared to deal with everything. But no matter what, mother will support your choice. Don't be afraid of the Isabella family."
Stacy looked at her mother's determined eyes and nodded seriously.
Just then, the sound of steady footsteps broke the silence.
The priests of the Moon Temple, dressed in gorgeous robes and with stern expressions, appeared in front of the mother and daughter.
Esther was keenly aware of the undisguised disgust in the eyes of these elves. She quickly stood in front of Stacy and asked warily, "What do you want to do? Why do you want to get close to my daughter?"
These priests have always been full of disdain for Esther. In their eyes, the once high and mighty Saint of the Stars, who had fallen for a human and given birth to a half-elf, was a disgrace to the entire elven race.
One of the priests suppressed his anger and said coldly, "We are here to take Stacy to the Moon Temple. High Priest Merlin and High Priest Elsa recommended her to become a saint."
"What?" Esther's eyes widened, her face full of disbelief.
Stacy was also confused. She looked at the priests and blurted out, "What Saint? The Saint of the Moon Temple? Did you make a mistake?"
The priest raised a mocking arc at the corner of his mouth and responded sarcastically: "We also hope that we are mistaken, but unfortunately this is absolutely true. Both high priests believe that you have the potential to become a saint."
Esther's heart moved, she looked at Stacy, and thought: If my daughter becomes the Saint of the Moon Temple...
"Daughter, maybe this is an opportunity." Esther said to Stacy.
Staci looked at her mother in confusion, her eyes full of doubts. Esther explained, "As long as you become the Saint of the Moon Temple, you will have power and status. Then, it won't be as difficult to be with Merlin as it is now. If I hadn't been the Saint of the Stars, it would have been a lot easier to be with your father."
Staci seemed to understand what her mother meant. Although she was still a little confused and afraid, she nodded slowly and followed the priests towards the Moon Temple.
The moment Staci stepped into the hall of the Moon Temple, countless glances of disgust and contempt shot towards her like sharp arrows.
She flinched slightly, and only Merlin and Elsa waved at her kindly.
Stacy hurried over and asked anxiously, "What's going on?"
Merlin smiled and said calmly, "Nothing, it's just that Elsa and I agree that you are more suitable for the important task of being the Saint of the Moon Temple."
Although Stacy had prepared herself mentally on the way, she still felt dazed and panicked when she heard Merlin confirm it in person.
She held Merlin's hand tightly and said nervously, "No, I'm a half-elf. How can I become the Saint of the Moon Temple? This doesn't make sense."
Merlin patted Stacy's hand gently and consoled her, "It's okay. No one has ever stipulated that half-elves can't be saints. Relax, Elsa and I are here to support you."
After hearing Merlin's words, Stacy calmed down a little. Then she remembered what her mother had said before, and she lowered her head and muttered to herself, "The Saint of the Moon..."
