Chapter 577 The Greedy Lord of Plague

The night was as dark as ink, hanging heavily over the sky of the Arcane City.

The city was shrouded in a mysterious and soft magical glow, and the buildings on both sides of the streets that had not yet completely collapsed were like huge shadows, arranged in an orderly manner.

Gorgeous magic lamps extended along the streets, emitting faint light intermittently. Darkness and light were intertwined, and the broken light seemed to sway slightly in the cold night wind, as if telling the story of the war that the city had experienced two days ago.

Sigma walked alone on the cold street. The cold wind was like a knife, cutting his cheeks painfully.

He shrank his neck and stuffed his hands deep into his pockets.

In my mind, the chattering voice of the Lord of Plague was like an annoying fly, buzzing.

"Hmph, today is so frustrating! In the final analysis, it's because the cards are not good. How can we win without good cards? Didn't Roth only win by chance thanks to a few legendary cards?" The Lord of Plague was full of resentment, and his voice was full of unwillingness.

Sigma sighed helplessly and said, "You think I don't want good cards? But good cards are not that easy to get. In Arena of Valor, the probability of getting good cards in a pack is pitifully low, like looking for a needle in a haystack. Every time I open a pack with great expectations, I find that it's full of useless ordinary cards. I almost despair."

"Is there no other way?" the Lord of Plague asked anxiously.

"A solution? Yes, buy it on the platform. But the price is astronomical! A slightly better card is enough for my living expenses for several months. I'm a poor guy, how can I have so much money to burn! Look at my outfit, do I look like someone who can afford good cards?" Sigma smiled bitterly and pointed to his old coat that was a little bleached from washing.

"It's so unfair that a dignified ancient god has to suffer such humiliation just because he doesn't have good cards! Is there no shortcut?" The Lord of Plague still refused to give up.

"Shortcut? If there was, I would have left long ago. In this card game, either you have extremely good luck and get great cards in the pack, or you are rich and willful and can just buy them. But I have neither. Stop complaining and accept the reality." Sigma quickened his pace, as if he wanted to leave this helplessness and frustration behind.

"No, I can't swallow this! We have to think of a way, we can't just let it go like this." The Lord of Plague said gritting his teeth.

"What else can we do? Unless you can conjure up a bunch of gold coins, otherwise, you'd better rely on your skills. Even though the deck is not so good, it's not completely without a chance. Didn't we fight him back and forth today?" Sigma tried to comfort the Lord of Plague, and also comfort himself at the same time.

"Rely on technology? But the opponent's good cards are too advantageous. Humph, one day, I will let him know that even without those so-called good cards, we can beat him to a pulp!" The Lord of Plague's voice was full of determination, as if he had already outlined a blueprint for revenge in his heart.

At this moment, neither he nor the Lord of Plague in his body noticed the changes that had quietly taken place between them - their feelings had actually become much deeper in the card game they had just experienced together.

The two who once fought fiercely for control of the body now seemed to have forgotten about it and were only thinking about the legendary duel.

Inadvertently, Sigma passed by a shop selling Arena of Valor cards.

The shop window is decorated very delicately, and it is filled with a wide variety of card holders, each of which seems to be telling of an unknown surprise.

In a prominent position in the window, there are several legendary cards emitting unique light, attracting the attention of passers-by.

Sigma's steps stopped involuntarily, and the Lord of Plague suddenly became excited in his mind.

"Look, if we can get those cards, it will be easy to defeat Roth next time!" said the Lord of Plague anxiously.

Sigmar followed the Plague Lord's gaze and saw a hint of desire in his eyes.

But he still reluctantly searched his pockets, and only took out two scattered gold coins and a few silver coins.

"Alas, I can't afford it. This money is not even enough to buy a fraction of a legendary card." Sigma shook his head with a wry smile.

"You are such a useless thing! You can't even afford a few cards. How can you stand out in this crisis-ridden world?" The Lord of Plague became angry instantly, and his words shot at Sigma like a string of cannonballs.

Sigma got angry when he heard this and shouted, "Have you said enough? If you have the guts, get out of my body and go make money to buy cards! It's easy to talk, I work hard for Merlin every day and I only make this little money. It's good enough to make a living, how can I have the spare money to buy these expensive cards!"

The two of them started arguing with each other, but their eyes were reluctant to move away from the card wallet in the window, and their eyes were full of greed.

After a while, the Lord of Plague suddenly calmed down and said, "Humph, since we can't afford the whole pack, we can buy a single pack. Look, a pack here is only one gold coin. Maybe if we are lucky, we can draw a good card in no time."

Sigma's heart moved. Although he knew that the probability of drawing a good card from a pack was extremely low, he was still tempted.

The Lord of Plague saw this and knew there was hope, so he continued to tempt them, "Just think about it, if a legendary card is really opened, then our chances of winning the next battle will be much greater. Maybe this pack can change the fate of our game and make Roth look at us with new eyes."

Sigma gritted his teeth, thought for a moment, and finally made up his mind and said, "Okay, let's open a pack and try it! At worst, I'll just treat this gold coin as a waste."

After that, Sigma walked into the store.

Sigma took out the only two gold coins he had left from his pocket, handed them to the clerk, and exchanged them for two packs of Arena of Valor cards.

Then, they walked to a corner of the store, ready to open the card pack that carried their expectations, their eyes full of anticipation.

Sigma took a deep breath and took out a small pair of scissors from a box beside him.

He gently placed the scissors on the plastic seal on the top of the card holder (there was already a plastic-like material, taken from slime), his eyes full of caution, as if he was performing an extremely sacred ritual.

As the scissors slowly closed, there was a slight "hiss" sound, and the plastic cover was carefully cut open.

Sigma stretched out his hand, his movements as gentle as if he was touching a rare treasure, and slowly took out the card from the card pack.

Before he could see the card clearly, he turned his wrist and flipped the card over, revealing the familiar card back.

"What are you doing? Why don't you just look at the front of the card?" The Lord of Plague was full of confusion and couldn't help asking.
