Chapter 434: Talk nicely, don't take off your clothes (7.4k a day, please vote)
At night, Cassandra suddenly sat up from the bed with cold sweat on her forehead.
It's that nightmare again!
The burning Troy, the piles of corpses, the relatives falling before my eyes, and myself being defiled and heading towards death...
Everything is so real and so cruel.
And as time went by, my perception of that scene became clearer and more obvious.
It was as if the nightmare was about to become reality and the future was just around the corner.
Whoosh~ Whoosh~
Cassandra gasped, her eyes filled with fear and struggle.
Her ability to foresee the future allows her to see the future, but she is powerless to change it. This divine grace is more of a curse than a blessing.
Perhaps, this is the punishment for rejecting the Lord God.
Cassandra bit her cherry lips, then raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead, put on her clothes, and came to the separate ward.
Looking at Hector who was in a coma on the hospital bed, Cassandra couldn't help feeling confused and powerless.
Since the fall of her sensible brother, the voices in the city that wanted to promote reconciliation had completely disappeared, and were replaced by the call to fight the Greeks to the death.
The source of this voice was his younger brother Paris...
His glorious image of forcefully repelling the enemy on the battlefield yesterday and his contribution in rescuing Hector earned him the support of many Trojans.
But Cassandra was deeply frightened by this, because such a brave Paris was definitely not the cowardly and spoiled brother she had imagined, but a puppet with another soul and will.
Cassandra recalled the events that had taken place recently around Troy, from the time when Paris abducted the Queen of Mycenae to the fierce battle yesterday. She vaguely caught some clues of human manipulation and gradually wove a terrible truth in her mind.
——Someone, or some potential force, is driving Troy and the Greek states to fight to the death, launching a sacrifice of blood and fire!
After coming to this conclusion, Cassandra couldn't help but shudder, and her eyes subconsciously fell on Hector.
But looking at her brother still unconscious on the hospital bed, she couldn't help but feel frustrated.
His brother Hector was injured by a powerful divine power in a previous battle, and the divine arts he mastered could not wake him up. It was a delusion to want him to regain control of the Trojan military and pull back Troy which was rushing towards the cliff.
Is it possible that I can only watch the misfortune happen like before, without being able to do anything?
Just as Cassandra was leaning against the bed and muttering in pain, a gentle voice came into her ears on the wind.
"Want to save him? I can help you..."
Hearing the sudden whisper, Cassandra, who was sitting in front of the bed, shuddered and immediately drew the dagger from her waist. She leaned against the corner and took a defensive posture, staring at the figure that appeared in the tent at some point like a little female cat with its fur standing on end.
"Well, you are very alert. But don't be nervous, we have met before." Loen smiled slightly. The neighing of a war horse was faintly heard behind him, and a kind of warm glow emanated from his body at the same time.
Sensing that familiar breath, Cassandra called out doubtfully.
"Lord Apollo?"
Loen smiled noncommittally, walked straight to the bed, stretched out his hand and stroked Hector's head, easily dispersing the divine power condensed in his body.
Seeing her brother's pale face gradually regain its original rosy color, Cassandra couldn't help but drop the dagger in her hand, hugged Hector on the hospital bed, and almost cried for joy.
If his brother could wake up in time, Troy might be saved!
However, as if he could see what others were thinking, the figure that appeared in the tent spoke softly, pouring a bucket of cold water on her heart:
"Don't be happy too soon. Troy is facing so much trouble now that even if ten Hectors woke up, it would be useless."
Cassandra's heart trembled, and she murmured:
"Is it because... the Trojan War concerns the gods? Just like the Battle of Thessaly?"
Luo En looked at the priestess girl in surprise, with admiration in his eyes:
"Not bad, you can think of that. It seems that King Priam has raised a pair of good children."
Before sneaking into Troy, he had done his homework and naturally knew that the girl in front of him was the legendary prophet priestess Cassandra.
Although he had expected her talent for foresight, Loen was still amazed by her keen insight.
Hearing this praise from the gods, Cassandra's face flushed unnaturally, and then she lowered her head, bit her lip and pleaded:
"Then, Lord Apollo, please tell me how Troy can survive this catastrophe."
Luo En heard this and smiled:
"Haven't you made your choice? With Paris and the one behind him, you Troy may still have a chance to survive."
"No, perhaps they are the ones who caused all these disasters!"
Cassandra answered seriously, and then told the true patron saint of Troy everything about the situation in the city, Paris's abnormality, and the inexplicably activated statue in the great temple.
"So that's what's going on..." Luo En nodded, his eyes thoughtful.
Apparently, the guardian statue in Troy was a wedge used by Zeus to convey his divine will and manipulate the situation.
At this time, Cassandra also found the crux of Troy's destruction from the reaction of the gods in front of her, and immediately spoke solemnly:
"I have read the files from two hundred years ago and know the whole story of the war between the giants. I also understand the consequences of Troy following the will of His Majesty!"
Although history is often buried by the sands of time, there are always some people who will dig out the truth from the past and use it as a teacher and guide to move towards a more distant future.
The biggest gain for Cassandra from reading the files was seeing Thessaly as a living example of a country that survived the last war of gods.
History has long told everyone through facts: His Majesty the God King of Olympus does not care about the lives of mortal beings at all. If you follow him to the end, you will most likely become the cornerstone of his forging of the divine rank.
Only those people in the God of War Mountain would look at the struggles of mortals and show a little pity.
Therefore, if Troy wants to find a way to survive in the upcoming war of gods, even if it does not follow the disappeared gods of Mount Ares, it must cut off the manipulation of the God King behind the scenes, so as not to become a discarded pawn on the chessboard.
Thinking of this, Cassandra took a deep breath and uttered her outrageous request:
"So, I dare to ask you to destroy the statue in the Great Temple, mediate this war, and save Troy from harm!"
However, Luo En just smiled and asked playfully:
"Why should I help you?"
Cassandra was slightly stunned, her face turning alternately red and white.
After a brief hesitation, she seemed to have finally made up her mind. She tore open her corset, and the loose long skirt instantly slipped off her shoulders, revealing her young and energetic body.
Seeing the priestess girl closing her eyes and rushing towards him, Luo En was startled and quickly covered his chest and dodged:
"Let's talk about the terms, why are you taking off your clothes?"
Cassandra opened her eyes after failing to catch him, her flushed face full of embarrassment and shame:
"Lord Apollo, don't you want my body? I'm willing to use it as a bargaining chip, isn't that enough?"
As we all know, the Greek gods are very loving, and their gifts often come with expensive prices.
Back then, although Cassandra had her ears washed by the sacred snake in the Temple of Apollo and gained the ability to predict the future, she was also noticed by the God of Light because of her beauty.
Once, while she was playing in the temple, Apollo wanted to have sex with her and asked her to become his lover. Cassandra did not obey, but cried for help and resisted, and ultimately Apollo did not get his wish.
But the shame of not getting what he wanted made the arrogant god very angry at Cassandra for being so ignorant, so he cursed her and made her prophecy not be believed in the city of Troy.
Now, in order to save her country from the prophecy of destruction, Cassandra finally lowered her proud head, threw away her dignity and shame, and took the initiative to dedicate herself to the patron saint of Troy.
However, the Trojan patron saint in Cassandra's eyes just coughed awkwardly and looked away:
"I don't think I ever said that I am Apollo..."
“…”
Silence. There was nothing but silence in the tent.
The stagnant atmosphere lasted for a full quarter of an hour. Cassandra came back to her senses and then stiffly bent down, picked up the long skirt on the ground as if nothing had happened, put it back on, and asked calmly:
"So what do you want me to give? As long as I have it, I will give it without hesitation."
It has to be said that this priestess whose name was recorded in the epic poem had a very high psychological quality and was able to remain calm in the face of both praise and criticism.
Loen's admiration for Cassandra grew stronger, and his tone softened:
"I would like to help you, but the statue is probably connected to Zeus's will, so it's not convenient for me to help."
"So, you can't stop this?"
Cassandra showed disappointment, and the light in her eyes dimmed, as if she had lost her spiritual support in an instant.
"Don't worry, I haven't finished speaking yet." Lorne looked at Cassandra with a smile, "Just because it's inconvenient for me doesn't mean you can't."
"Me?" Cassandra looked surprised.
"That's right. It's better to rely on yourself than on others. Although it's not convenient for me to take direct action, I can teach you how to destroy the statue. With your identity, it should be easy for you to get close to there." Luo En said with a smile.
Without a moment's hesitation, Cassandra asked solemnly: "Then what should I do? Please tell me!"
"When Paris goes out of the city tomorrow to challenge, you sneak into the Great Temple and stab this into the chest of the statue."
As Loen responded, he took out a short purple-red blade shaped like lightning from the magic circle and handed it to Cassandra.
This is the short sword that can defeat all barriers and contracts and represents betrayal - the Talisman of Destruction of All Laws!
In order to pull out the nail that Zeus had embedded in Troy, Loen borrowed this special artifact from Medea.
Cassandra glanced at the Talisman of Destruction in her hand, then looked up at the mysterious god in front of her and asked softly.
"So, what should I give first in return for your generosity?"
"When I need you, open a door for the coalition forces outside the city."
"You want me to betray Troy?"
"No, this is a way out I left for you."
Lorne stared at the frowning Cassandra and spoke leisurely.
"Troy will eventually fall, but which side the door is opened to will determine whether Troy can have a chance to rise again after the fall."
Cassandra pondered for a moment, her eyes moving slightly:
"Then, can you tell me your divine name?"
"You can call me-Lorne..."
Cassandra felt relieved when she heard this.
God of wine and feasting, shepherd of the earthly flock.
It turns out it’s Him, so there’s no problem.
Then, as if she had regained her spiritual support, the young priestess clenched the Talisman of Destroying All Laws in her hand, raised her head and smiled elegantly to the god in front of her.
"Okay, I'll do as you say tomorrow!"
