Chapter 3

The sun was shining outside the window, cicadas were chirping in the trees, and a soft breeze was blowing in through the half-open window, bringing a comfortable coolness when it touched the skin. A young boy about ten years old was sleeping on the recliner.

His fair left hand hung naturally in the air, with the purple veins clearly visible. His other hand was placed behind his head, with a book covering his face to block the sun, revealing only a section of his neck that was so white that it reflected light, and half of his overly thin waist.

Knock knock knock!

It seemed like someone was knocking on his door. The young boy moved, and the book covering his face was not placed steadily and suddenly slipped off, revealing a face with delicate features. The young boy slowly raised his left hand to his mouth and yawned slowly.

The pair of peach blossom eyes, sparkling and moist, opened carelessly.

"Here it comes." The young boy's voice has not changed yet, and it is soft and light, and he seems to be lacking in energy due to his illness.

He picked up the book that had just fallen on the ground. It was a novel, and it was quite interesting. Yin Zuo was weak and born with a deficiency. He would pant for three steps out of five. After something happened at school, his condition became more serious, so his brother took him out of school and kept him at home.

Yin Zuo doesn't have any extra hobbies on weekdays, and he can't do any big movements as it's not good for his recovery, so he just reads books, watches TV series, plants flowers, and plays Sudoku and Rubik's Cube on weekdays. His daily life is very similar to that of the old man in his sixties or seventies next door.

When the door was opened, a gentle and dignified woman smiled and tidied up the slightly curled hair on Yin Zuo's forehead.

"Your father is back and said he wants to see you. Come downstairs with your mother."

"What is he doing back? Is he here to ask for money again?" Since he was a child, Yin Zuo often saw his biological father coming home to ask for money. When his grandfather was alive, he would ask his grandfather for money. Now that his grandfather is gone, he asks his brother for money. He is so shameless.

"Don't talk about your father like that. He...anyway, just go down with your mother. Be obedient."

Yin Zuo followed his mother downstairs and immediately saw the man sitting in the hall.

The man looked good, but his eyes were cloudy and he looked like a useless person.

"Yin Zuo is here, come and say a few nice words to your mom for dad. Dad knows he was wrong, and now he wants to go home. We will live a good life as a family of four in the future."

As he was about to pick up his younger son, his older son, who was dressed in a suit and tie, stepped forward and separated him from his younger brother.

The elder brother rubbed Yin Zuo's head, took him to sit on the sofa at the other end, and said to him, "Did you just wake up? You don't look very energetic today."

The younger brother is weak and will feel dizzy if he stands for a long time, and he cannot withstand the sudden pulling of an adult man, so the older brother takes a step forward to avoid these situations from happening.

"Well, I just fell asleep while reading. Why didn't you go to work today, brother?"

"I just got back. You sit here for a while and then go back to your room to continue sleeping."

"Oh." Yin Zuo's peach blossom eyes looked at his brother, then looked at the man sitting at the other end whom he should call dad.

The brother loosened the tie around his neck, unbuttoned his cuffs, and cast a sharp gaze at his father.

"Yin Zuo is still young, you don't need to use him as a lobbyist. You insisted on being with that woman, and even snatched the company's shares for your illegitimate child, which made Grandpa so angry that he went to the hospital. Mom agreed at the time and divorced you. I also gave you the shares you wanted. It was agreed that the company would be under my control, and you should just collect the dividends honestly. What's wrong? Do you regret it again?"

The man shrank back. He was still a little afraid of his eldest son.

"That woman is a liar, and that child is not my biological child. I... I know I was wrong! I am willing to return to my family and compensate your mother! And treat you two brothers well!" After saying this, he looked at his ex-wife affectionately.

Yin Zuo's mother had always been fascinated by his appearance. Now that she heard that he was deceived by that woman, she felt even softer-hearted and immediately planned to ask him to give him another chance.

Seeing that his mother was a little shaken, Yin Zuo's eyes flickered, and he spoke innocently first: "Dad, are you really going to come home? Will you only be good to me in the future?"

"Of course! Dad loves you the most. Don't you remember? Dad used to..."

Yin Zuo suddenly interrupted his recollections.

"The one that Dad liked before... well, she looked a little too ordinary, and I can't quite remember her face. When she came to our house, she told me that Dad only treated her children well. It was because I was a sickly person and not likable that Dad asked Grandpa for shares for him. Now Dad only treats me well. Will he give me the shares?"

The man smiled awkwardly and didn't respond.

Yin Zuo seemed very disappointed. He lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes blocking the waves in his eyes. He only said softly, "It seems that Dad lied to me just now. It turns out that it is because of my poor health that Dad... doesn't like me, and by extension... doesn't like Mom and brother. It's all... my fault."

The more Yin Zuo spoke, the more sad and excited he became. He began to have difficulty breathing, and tears rolled down his eyes like crystal beads that had broken off the string.

Brother Yin Zuo's face suddenly changed. At this moment, Yin Zuo scratched his brother's palm. Brother Yin Zuo then breathed a sigh of relief and cooperated with his brother in acting with a cold face.

Yin Zuo's mother looked at this with great pity. Compared with this husband who had cheated on her and abandoned her, her biological son was naturally more important. She stepped forward and patted her son's chest.

"Yin Zuo, don't be sad. The doctor said that you shouldn't get too excited. Mom likes Yin Zuo the most, and your brother likes Yin Zuo the most too. We don't need anyone else. Mom will take you back to your room, okay?"

"But... Daddy is still... here."

Even at this time, he was concerned about his biological father who had rarely been kind to him, and the anger in Yin Zuo's mother's heart burst out.

"He's leaving soon. He just came to see you today. It's okay. Mom will accompany you upstairs."

"...Okay then, goodbye, Dad." Yin Zuo smiled faintly and even waved goodbye to his father.

The brother picked up Yin Zuo, and the mother and his two sons went upstairs. Yin Zuo's father couldn't say a word during the whole process. When his youngest son fell ill, his ex-wife and eldest son no longer had any sight of him. He wanted to follow them, but was stopped by the housekeeper.

"Mr. Yin, please go out. Madam just said that you should leave."

After sending Yin Zuo back to his room and letting him lie down, Yin Zuo's brother said to his mother, "Mom, where is the medicine that the old Chinese doctor prescribed for Yin Zuo last time? Didn't he say that he should boil it for him to drink whenever he gets excited?"

The woman then remembered and nodded as she said, "Yes, yes, yes, I put the medicine in the kitchen cabinet. I'll go downstairs and cook it for your brother. You can stay here with him first and come back to the company later, right?"

"Well, I brought back all the documents that the company needs to process. You go ahead, Mom."

Yin Zuo opened his eyes only after the woman closed the door and the footsteps disappeared from the stairs.

"Brother, how was my performance just now? Do you think I could win an award with my acting skills if I were to enter the entertainment industry?"

Brother Yin Zuo raised his lips, looked at him lovingly and said, "You acted very well, at the level of Best Actor. You are the best actor."

"I'm sorry, I came back a little late and couldn't stop mom from coming up to find you, so you..."

Yin Zuo shook his head and said nonchalantly: "Brother, you don't have to apologize. Although I used to clamor for a dad, it was because I was only in elementary school at that time and didn't know much. Now I'm grown up, and it doesn't matter if I don't have a dad. I have a brother, which is enough for me."

The reason for dropping out of school was that some classmates who didn't get along with Yin Zuo deliberately spread some bad words, saying that he had no one to take care of his life and was a poor guy without a father. Such insulting remarks caused great psychological harm to Yin Zuo, who was still young at the time.

From then on, Yin Zuo's condition worsened and he could not stand any stimulation.

"If you feel uncomfortable, you must tell me. We still have to see a doctor when it's time. Listen to me, okay?"

Yin Zuo raised a bright smile.

"Okay, I'll listen to you, brother."

Two days later, it was the day for Yin Zuo to go to the hospital for a follow-up visit. His brother and mother accompanied him to the hospital.

When the examination was over, my brother's phone kept ringing.

"It's okay, brother, go do whatever you want, I'll go home with mom."

Brother Yin Zuo rubbed his brother's head, thought for a moment, and got out of the car.

"Be careful on the road. I will get off work early tonight and go home to have dinner with you." He promised at the window.

"Okay, then mom and I will wait for you at home."

Yin Zuo's mother laughed and teased the two brothers, "I almost doubted whether I gave birth to twins. Why do you two like to stick together so much? Well, those who need to be busy should hurry up and do your things. Those who need to go home should go home with me. Look at you two acting like you are parting with each other for life and death. It's not like we will never see each other again."

"I just like sticking with my brother. Are you jealous, mom? Don't worry, I love sticking with you, too!" After saying that, Yin Zuo hugged his mother's arm, acting clingy on purpose.

Yin Zuo's mother smiled happily, enjoying her younger son's coquettishness. She said to her older son, "Let's go."

When facing his mother and brother, whom he is closest to, Yin Zuo is always very gentle and likes to say things to cheer them up. The mother and son kept talking and laughing along the way.

Halfway through the journey, for some reason, the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes.

"What's wrong?" Yin Zuo's mother asked.

The driver wiped his sweat and spoke with a guilty tone.

"It looks like someone was hit, ma'am. I'll go down and take a look. You guys wait in this car for a while."

"What? How did you bump into someone for no reason? I'd better go down with you."

At this moment, an out-of-control car suddenly crashed into the car in which Yin Zuo was sitting. His eyes turned red and he immediately lost consciousness.

Yin Zuo woke up from his sleep, and now he remembered everything. It turned out that he was dead, but he didn't know why he suddenly came back to life.

But his brother and mother would definitely be very sad as he would never see them again. Overwhelmed with grief, Yin Zuo, who had now become a baby again, burst into tears.

"What's wrong? Why is Xiaoliu crying? Quickly ask the wet nurse to bring the baby over so I can take a look at him myself." Rouwan was awakened immediately when she heard the baby crying in her sleep.

"Yes, Your Majesty, please don't move. I will go and bring the Sixth Prince over right away." Aunt Qing comforted her own Majesty before going next door.

The small swaddling clothes were brought to Depin's arms. She opened a corner and gently scratched the little one's tender face.

"Why are you crying all of a sudden? Is Xiaoliu missing you?"

This voice sounded very familiar to Yin Zuo. He forgot to cry and tried hard to open his eyes. However, the vision of a newborn baby was underdeveloped, just like severe myopia. Everything in front of his eyes was blurry and he couldn't see clearly. He could only stretch out his two little hands and wave them, trying to touch the face in front of him.

Rouwan smiled gently, moved her face closer to the child.

Yin Zuo finally succeeded in touching that face. He didn't know why, but he was very sure that this was his mother.

"Sixth Prince stopped crying as soon as he saw the Empress and even grinned, which shows that he is still close to the Empress." The wet nurse flattered.

Rouwan was naturally happy to hear this, and she looked at Aunt Qing.

"My lady, this is Sixth Prince's wet nurse, Madam Cheng."

"Madam Cheng, how much did the Sixth Prince take in today? Is it delicious?"

"The Sixth Prince was just born, so he didn't eat much today, but I saw that he was eating very happily."

Nanny Cheng spoke honestly, and Rouwan nodded secretly.

But Yin Zuo didn't like her ignoring him, so he reached out and grabbed a strand of her hair.

"Xiaoliu looks a little thinner than Xiaosi, but his hands are quite strong." With the help of Aunt Qing and the wet nurse, the hair was finally taken out of Yin Zuo's hands. Afterwards, Rouwan held the child, and the mother and son fell asleep together.
