"He is indeed good-looking. Is this your type? Is he the non-celebrity you're going to bring to your show?"
"roll."
Shi Tian gave Song Yike the middle finger, then got up and kicked him out of the private room.
Shi Qian frowned slightly as she observed Song Yike's attitude towards Shi Tian and asked, "Who is he?"
"Nobody? A colleague from the company."
Shi Tian didn't want Shi Qian to get involved. Because his contract with his current agency was about to expire, the company wanted to squeeze out the last bit of value from him and packaged Song Yike into one of his variety show invitations.
The program invited many veteran entertainers, and Shi Tian also gained favor with the variety show director because of his sudden rise to fame.
Shi Tian didn't want to go at first, as he has rarely participated in variety shows in all his years in the industry, but when he heard that the movie star Guan Ying would also be participating, Shi Tian immediately agreed.
After Shi Tian agreed, the company forced someone in, saying that he should mentor the person.
Song Yike is a newcomer who transferred from the singer department. Shi Tian's agent said that Song Yike wanted to switch to acting and asked him to mentor the newcomer.
The so-called "bringing" method is to put the two of them together on a variety show, so that Song Yike can ride on Shi Tian's fame.
What program?
Shi Qian felt that Shi Tian's complexion was not good; even his dark skin couldn't hide his even darker face.
"It's nothing, just a variety show."
Shi Qian could tell that Shi Tian didn't really want to talk, but the person who had just spoken to Shi Tian clearly didn't get along.
"What was that person about?"
"The company asked me to mentor him."
“He was very rude,” Shi Qian said.
"It might be something he was born with, just ignore it."
Shi Qian sensed that Shi Tian's words had a hidden meaning. That person was clearly not a good person. Shi Tian's contract was about to expire. Could it be that the company was going to cause trouble?
Shi Qiantingyan Pavilion once said that the most heartless people in the world are brokerage companies whose contracts are about to expire.
They say they're mentoring newcomers, but they're probably just forcing Shi Tian to do other things.
"It's okay, second brother. Tell me what's wrong. I'm pretty bored with studying anyway, so I'll just treat it as a way to relax."
Shi Qian couldn't let his second brother be bullied, since Shi Tian had stood up for him so many times before.
"Didn't they say they were inviting ordinary people to participate? Can I go?"
When Shi Tian heard Shi Qian say he wanted to go, he was taken aback at first, then frowned, feeling that it was not quite appropriate.
"The entertainment industry is not as simple as you think. If you don't want to develop a career in this industry, I don't recommend getting involved. Many variety shows will edit their content maliciously."
But Shi Qian seemed very curious, so Shi Tian had no choice but to explain it to him.
Next week, he's going to be on a slow-paced variety show about rural life. They'll be inviting five groups of guests, each bringing along a non-celebrity, to spend a week living in the countryside together.
The program is a recorded program, which requires a week's break, so Shi Tian never considered Shi Qian in the first place.
He was prepared to just ask any friend, since it would only be a week anyway.
He really didn't want Shi Qian and Song Yike to have too much contact. Song Yike seemed to be sick. She had previously pestered him to confess her feelings, but Shi Tian rejected her. Song Yike became angry and started to trip him up in various ways.
Shi Tian was worried that Song Yike might take a liking to Shi Qian, since Song Yike's family seemed to have some connections. If it were to harm Shi Qian, it would be troublesome.
"Next time, let's go to a more upscale place, so we don't have to save money for your brother."
Shi Tian changed the subject, not wanting Shi Qian's attention to remain on the variety show.
He knew that Shi Qian had asked him to come here today to save him money, but he wasn't so poor that he couldn't afford to treat his brother to a meal.
"Second brother, I'll go with you. Next week is exam month, so there aren't many classes."
"No, didn't you say it's exam month? You need to study. I've heard that the exams at Peking University are very difficult."
"It's okay, I'm a good student, I won't fail any courses."
"Let's just treat this as a trip to relax and unwind together. We haven't seen each other for many years."
Shi Tian was still hesitant, but Shi Qian kept persuading him. In the end, Shi Tian agreed. He figured he could just be more careful and not let the show edit Shi Qian out of proportion, and also not let Song Yike get close to Shi Qian.
In the other private room, Song Yike found the right room and went in to find that her younger brother, Song Qi, had already ordered the food.
"Why did you choose a place like this? The smell is awful," Song Yike said with some disgust.
"I have things to do this afternoon, and this place is close by and convenient."
Song Qi also got into Peking University, majoring in the same field as Fu Xiuhan. He wasn't as rich or had as much time as Fu Xiuhan, so he planned ahead and decided to find an internship as soon as he started his freshman year.
"By the way, there's a variety show next week, come with me," Song Yike said.
Song Yike only decided to switch to acting this year. He has released so many songs but none of them have become popular. Knowing that Yan Ge was going to release a new song, he put in a lot of effort to get his manager to find a great producer for him.
But then Yan Ge suddenly stopped releasing songs. It was said that he had a falling out with the songwriter and the songwriter refused to sell them. Song Yike was overjoyed when he found out.
When Yan Ge stopped releasing songs, he suddenly stopped being so anxious.
His agent had previously suggested that he switch to acting, as it has a low barrier to entry and he might become famous if he gave it a try.
Song Yike didn't care at first, but after seeing several people from the same company gradually become popular, he started to have designs on them.
The agent has a good relationship with Song Yike and paves the easiest path for him, letting him go on a variety show first and have a well-known actor from the same company mentor him to increase his popularity.
Then, insert him into some big IPs as a guest star in minor roles to make him more recognizable.
Song Yike finally agreed. The person his agent chose for him was Shi Tian. Shi Tian had no background and had worked his way up on his own, making him the easiest to control.
