When Shi Qian woke up, there was no one beside him. He checked the time and it was only 7 o'clock.
Shi Qian rubbed his eyes and walked out with dragging steps, seeing Meng Qing busy in the small kitchen early in the morning.
"Good morning, why didn't you sleep in a little longer?" Shi Qian yawned, walked to the refrigerator, and took out a bottle of milk.
"I've had enough sleep, so I'll get up."
Meng Qing doesn't get much sleep to begin with, and last night, thinking about this and that, she couldn't fall asleep at all. She stayed up half the night with her eyes open in bed, but finally decided to get up.
He was cooking porridge. He had noticed that Shi Qian liked to drink porridge, so he thought he would cook some and leave it so she could drink it when she woke up.
Yu Guang saw Shi Qian take out iced milk from the refrigerator and was about to open it to drink when he quickly stepped forward and snatched the milk from his hand.
"Don't drink anything cold right after you wake up, it's bad for your stomach."
"Go wash up first, breakfast will be ready in a bit."
Shi Qian wasn't worried when she saw the milk being taken away. She turned around, opened the refrigerator, and took out a new one.
Meng Qing: ...
Meng Qing took the bottle of milk from his hand, pushed him out of the kitchen, and said, "Go wash up and clear your head."
Seeing that she really couldn't have iced milk, Shi Qian pouted, looking a little unhappy. With her messy hair, she glared angrily at Meng Qing.
Looking at Shi Qian, who was sleeping in a mess, with her hair all frizzy and her pajamas collar askew, Meng Qing noticed that Shi Qian was so beautiful and cute that Meng Qing immediately thought of a cat with its fur standing on end.
This expression doesn't look like she's throwing a tantrum; it looks more like she's being affectionate.
Meng Qing sighed helplessly, her voice unconsciously lowering slightly as she softly said:
"Shall I heat it up for you before you drink it?"
Seeing Meng Qing's firm attitude, Shi Qian had no choice but to turn around and walk towards the bathroom.
Watching Shi Qian's departing figure, Meng Qing unconsciously cursed herself a couple more times.
I was thinking of getting away from Shi Qian yesterday, but this morning I'm making breakfast for people.
Whether he drinks iced milk or not, and whether it upsets his stomach or not, is ultimately none of his business.
Why do you have to worry about so much?
Meng Qing sighed and angrily berated herself for being so useless.
Why can't I stop interfering as soon as I see Shi Qian?
Shi Qian, of course, had no idea what Meng Qing was thinking. After a quick wash, he felt much more refreshed.
Still very sleepy, Shi Qian can never seem to wake up properly. The doctor said it's because her body is too weak and she has insufficient qi and blood, which makes her easily tired.
Meng Qing had almost finished preparing breakfast: simple white porridge with a few fried eggs. He then brought the breakfast to the table.
He pulled out a chair, beckoned to Shi Qian, and gestured for him to come and sit down.
Shi Qian obediently sat down, picked up the warmed milk, took a big gulp, and then spoke:
"Meng Qing, we don't need to make breakfast. We can just go downstairs to eat. Auntie will make it."
Meng Qing was embarrassed to say that the Shi family's breakfast was too lavish, and his stomach couldn't handle it for the time being; he felt a little uncomfortable after eating it every day.
He still prefers to drink light porridge. Fortunately, Shi Qian's room has a separate small kitchen, otherwise Meng Qing would be too embarrassed to go downstairs.
After all, it seems like no one in this family really likes him.
"It's okay, I just like eating these."
"If you don't like the food, you can go downstairs to eat. I can just borrow the kitchen for now."
Shi Qian took a couple of sips of porridge before slowly saying, "There's nothing I can't get used to; they're all pretty much the same."
Meng Qing's porridge suited Shi Qian's taste perfectly; it was smooth and creamy, and Shi Qian liked it very much.
Without realizing it, I drank two more bowls.
"Oh, by the way, the housekeeper knocked on the door this morning and said that Madam Shi is coming home today."
Upon hearing this, Shi Qian picked up her phone and checked. Indeed, it was mentioned in the family group chat that her mother was coming back.
Shi Qian didn't have many thoughts about his mother; he vaguely remembered that his mother had been quite good to him when he was little.
But later, I don't know when it started, my mother seemed to dislike him and preferred her cousin Shi Yan.
However, Shi Qian didn't have any objections to this, since she quite liked this cousin herself.
She has good grades, is gentle and considerate, has many talents, and can learn anything well.
Unlike myself, I seem to give up halfway through everything I do.
In the evening, Mrs. Shi returned, carrying large and small bags, followed by Shi Yan, who had just come home from school.
Although Shi Yan was a year older than Shi Qian, he delayed starting school by a year so that he could go to school with Shi Qian.
So now, like Shi Qian, they've just started their senior year of high school.
Shi Qian frequently had to take time off from school due to health issues. Not long after the start of his senior year of high school, he fell ill again, so Madam Shi had no choice but to keep him at home.
When Shi Yan was young, he would take a break from school with Shi Qian, since his main task used to be to accompany Shi Qian.
But as Shi Yan grew up, his grades improved and he became well-behaved, so Madam Shi couldn't bear to delay the child's development.
As a result, Shi Qian often stayed home from school, while Shi Yan attended school normally but did not live on campus. After school and on weekends, he would play with Shi Qian.
Shi Yan was very respectable to his parents. After entering high school, his grades consistently ranked in the top ten of his grade. He was also very talented and often participated in various activities. His teachers and classmates all liked him very much.
Most importantly, Shi Yan has artistic talent. His wife was born into an artistic family and was exposed to various musical instruments from a young age. She is especially good at the violin and became the principal violinist of Yancheng Art Academy at a young age.
Mrs. Shi had three children. Her eldest son followed his husband in business and had no artistic talent whatsoever.
The second son went to pursue a career in the entertainment industry at a young age and didn't come home for several years.
