Chapter 36 Main Tasks

Shi Qian was still pondering why he was spending time with Meng Qing, and why their relationship was so different from his previous life. He couldn't recall ever having such a harmonious relationship with her.

Shi Qian closed his eyes and meditated quietly. His recent memories slowly returned, as if he were experiencing two different lives. The first was a period of confusion and ignorance. He was like a programmed robot. Others could easily provoke him with a few words and make him do things against his will. He acted recklessly and recklessly, as if he were possessed by a ghost. He did all sorts of bad things and eventually reaped the consequences of his actions and died a terrible death.

The second part is now. He is like a reborn person, possessing all the memories from before, but he is no longer a puppet.

Perhaps all of that was him, and perhaps none of it was him; the only thing he could control was this very moment.

Shi Qian's true personality is not as timid and naive as she seems. Her recent abnormal behavior is just some confusion during her mental recovery period.

When he fainted, he vaguely heard some words, something like "Number 19's consciousness is not very controllable, and chaos will occur in the system dimension."

"The system is currently undergoing an upgrade, making it difficult to repair. There shouldn't be any major problems, as the system has already been set up with an automatic error repair program. Let's check again later."

Shi Qian is very smart. He can guess from just a few words that his world may not be the real world. Everything here is pre-programmed. He is like a brainless NPC whose main role is to be a tool to advance the plot.

But now that Shi Qian has his own consciousness, he doesn't want to waste his time among these people anymore.

Shi Qian knew perfectly well that he and Meng Qing were not friends. Meng Qing was the protagonist of this world, and if he associated with him, he would only end up with a terrible death.

We need to find a way to get away from it.

Knock knock, a knocking sound suddenly came from the door.

Meng Qing stopped cleaning and opened the door, where Song Qi was standing.

Song Qi glanced around the room and saw Shi Qian sitting on the sofa. He mechanically expressed his concern and said that he had ordered porridge, saying that it would be better to drink some first when you are sick and then take your medicine.

Song Qi didn't want to come at first; he and Shi Qian weren't that close yet.

Meng Qing thanked him, accepted the gifts, and saw the person off. He knew that the porridge wasn't sent by Song Qi, but rather ordered by Fu Xiuhan.

In the past, Meng Qing would have refused, as Fu Xiuhan clearly had ill intentions towards Shi Qian, and she would have avoided contact with him as much as possible.

But it was too late, and the school gates were already closed, so Shi Qian really needed to eat something.

Meng Qing opened the porridge and placed it on the living room table, inviting Shi Qian to come and have some.

Shi Qian wasn't quite used to Meng Qing's state and instinctively resisted, sensing that he had ill intentions. She refused, saying, "I don't want to eat."

Meng Qing paused in her tidying up, feeling that she shouldn't meddle in other people's business. If Shi Qian didn't want to eat, then she shouldn't. But then she remembered that she still had to take her medicine later, and she couldn't eat on an empty stomach.

"You'll need to take your medicine later, and drink some water to fill your stomach."

"No need, I'm tired, I'll go back and rest first."

Shi Qian returned to his room, took out his pajamas from his suitcase, and prepared to take a shower. He happened to see a row of medicines in the suitcase and frowned. He remembered these medicines; they were not good things.

They picked up the whole row and threw them into the room's trash can.

Then, as he closed the bedroom door and was about to close the bathroom door, he said, "I want to be alone. It's better if we stay separate. I hope you won't come into my room without permission, and of course, I won't go into your room without permission either."

Meng Qing sensed that Shi Qian's personality had changed drastically after he woke up, but he didn't know the specific reason. He could only guess that Shi Qian was not feeling well, which was why he was speaking in a bad tone.

Meng Qing nodded in agreement, swallowing back the words she was about to say to Shi Qian not to take a bath today, as it might make her catch a cold.

Shi Qian quickly finished showering and tidied up before lying in bed. He didn't know how things had developed to the point where he and Meng Qing were sharing a dorm room. No, he'd have to ask the dorm manager tomorrow to see if he could change rooms.

Staying away from the main characters was his first step to save his life.

Shi Qian woke up very early the next day. He didn't want to meet Meng Qing. He couldn't control his disgust for him yet and was afraid that he wouldn't be able to hide his expression and would cause unnecessary trouble.

At this point, Meng Qing has not yet returned to the Meng family, so he doesn't have absolute power or influence, and can still make further plans.

After quickly packing up, Shi Qian glanced at her class schedule, grabbed everything she needed, and left the dormitory.

After going downstairs, he went to the dormitory manager to ask if there were any vacant rooms, but unfortunately they were all full. Oh well, he'd just stay here for now.

He had managed to avoid the conflicts that Meng Qing should have had before, and there were no major conflicts between them at the moment. However, Shi Yan was a problem. If Shi Qian remembered correctly, Shi Yan was another protagonist in this timeline, and he was just a tool specially created for him.

If he wasn't mistaken, his "abnormal" behavior shouldn't have much impact if it didn't directly affect Shi Yan, but everything still needs to be tested.

Shi Yan hasn't returned yet. Once he does, the plot will proceed according to the script no matter what. According to the system, Shi Qian is currently in a state of "out of control." He is currently unsure whether he will be punished if he doesn't follow the plot.

Shi Qian reorganized his thoughts. As far as he knew, the main characters of this book were Meng Qing and Shi Yan, and Fu Xiuhan and others should also be considered. Other important supporting characters, such as Shi Qian's parents, were categorized as ordinary characters.

He set three main tasks for himself:

1. Test whether influencing the protagonist's storyline will cause harm to oneself;

2. Test whether influencing the storyline of important supporting characters will cause harm to yourself;

3. Test whether influencing the storyline of ordinary characters will cause harm to oneself.

Shi Qian decided to start with the third test, since if something went wrong between the first and second tests, he could hardly guarantee his own survival.

He should proceed step by step, as he can't avoid the plot. The only thing he can do now is to ensure his own survival as much as possible, gradually eliminate influencing factors, and finally plan how to avoid or reduce the impact.

Based on his memory, Shi Qian went to the cafeteria, got a seafood porridge and fried dough sticks, and found a corner to sit down. He felt that there were people watching him, but since he was a weirdo before, this was normal.

What was unusual was one particular gaze; Shi Qian casually glanced around at the group.

Finally, the location was to his right front. If he wasn't mistaken, that person should be the guy who locked him in the equipment room yesterday.
