Seeing that Shi Qian had no reaction, Li Chuan felt even more that this person was morally corrupt, shameless, and utterly despicable. His act of selling his body had been exposed to his face, yet he remained completely unfazed.
Li Chuan originally intended to intimidate Shi Qian into backing down. How could a normal person be ashamed if others found out about such a thing? They would either be furious or kneel down begging for mercy to keep quiet. But Shi Qian was too calm.
The calmer a person is, the more dangerous they are; such people are difficult to deal with.
"Shi Qian, I advise you not to try anything funny. Don't think you're the only one with powerful connections!"
Li Chuan had no idea what to say, but he had no other choice.
Based on his skill level, he should have no problem with the end-of-month assessment, but if someone interferes, his chances are in jeopardy.
He doesn't know how to face his mother if he fails this test.
Li Chuan comes from a single-parent family. His parents divorced when he was in junior high school, and he lives with his mother, Hong Xue.
His father said that he and his mother were incompatible, so they separated. At first, his mother refused to divorce, so his father simply stopped coming home. After a year or two, they still got divorced.
Hong Seol spent two years accepting the absurd reason of "personality incompatibility" that suddenly appeared after they had been together for over 20 years.
The matter could have passed peacefully if it hadn't been for the later discovery that Li Chuan's father had a son outside the marriage who was about the same age as Li Chuan, and that he had registered his marriage with his mistress less than a month after the divorce.
Hong Xue was devastated when she found out. She and Li Chuan's father were college sweethearts who dated from high school to university, and then to graduate school. After graduation, they naturally got married and had Li Chuan. They had never argued and were always considered a model couple by their classmates.
Yet, this seemingly perfect couple had one spouse who had already started a family outside the marriage. What's worse, their in-laws knew about it and helped keep it a secret.
Hong Xue went to make a scene, but her ex-husband's entire family called her a crazy woman and kicked her out. From then on, Hong Xue became increasingly strict with Li Chuan.
She began to focus all her attention on Li Chuan. She was determined to make Li Chuan better than that mistress's child, not just a little better, but far superior.
It's as if this will make her ex-husband's family regret giving up such a good daughter-in-law and grandson.
Her ex-husband schemed against her, and after the divorce, all the marital property was turned into loans from her in-laws, leaving her with almost no money.
After giving birth to Li Chuan, Hong Xue became a full-time housewife and started doing various part-time jobs. Fortunately, she was quite capable and, after a year or two of hard work, she earned a decent income.
Learning musical instruments is very expensive for Li Chuan, but Hong Xue is never stingy in this regard. She is willing to spend money on all kinds of training and courses as long as it is good for Li Chuan.
The words he most often said to Li Chuan were, "You have to make something of yourself. You must make something of yourself so that your father and grandparents will regret it to the core when they see how successful you are."
Li Chuan grew up under pressure like Hong Xue. Fortunately, he was talented and hardworking enough, and he played the violin very well. Even his teacher said that he was likely to pass the music association's assessment this year.
So when Li Chuan learned that Shi Qian wanted to interfere, he was somewhat at a loss.
He could easily report Shi Qian's actions to the teacher, but he doesn't have enough evidence right now, so it's useless.
Should we report Shi Qian to the Music Association? Who knows which big shot Shi Qian has climbed up to now? Can he fight against him?
Li Chuan felt inadequate. He had no power, influence, or background; anyone could crush him with a single finger. Who could he sue?
If he said he was just trying to embolden himself by going to the school and the music association, he had no evidence. If he was ultimately found to be spreading rumors, he would be the one who couldn't stay in Yancheng.
Li Chuan even began to doubt whether he had made a mistake by standing up for Shi Yan. If he hadn't gotten involved, would he have avoided getting caught up in Shi Qian's revenge?
But Shi Yan had comforted him during his most difficult time, and he couldn't just stand by and do nothing while his friend was being bullied like this.
The problem isn't with Shi Yan, nor with him, but with Shi Qian, who's not on the right path!
"Shi Qian, do you hate me that much?"
"Just because I stood up for Shi Yan?"
"You even splashed hot water on my hands before. Don't you know how important hands are to someone who learns musical instruments?"
"Besides, didn't you steal the sheet music? It's just that we don't have evidence yet!"
"Are you deliberately trying to make things difficult for me? Just to prevent me from passing the assessment, you've even resorted to selling your body to the Music Association?"
Shi Qian suspected that Li Chuan might have taken the wrong medicine, perhaps some kind of stimulant for livestock, otherwise he wouldn't know what kind of mess he was in now.
He just went to the Music Association, what does that have to do with Li Chuan? And what does it have to do with his end-of-month assessment?
Oh right, he's a judge in the assessment, but he won't hold him back in this kind of thing. After all, he's just representing Yan Zhengming as a judge, and the rules should be followed.
If Li Chuan minds, he can request to recuse himself for the sake of fairness.
Shi Qian believed that Li Chuan's most important task right now was to practice, rather than arguing with him about these trivial matters.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Shi Qian tried to go around, but Li Chuan stopped him, looking as if he wouldn't let him leave.
Shi Qian sighed, looking at Li Chuan who had clearly come to settle scores but was now trembling all over, and still kindly offered an explanation.
"Get this straight, you were the one who threw the water at me first, so I was acting in self-defense."
"Also, Shi Yan is Shi Yan, and you are you. I advise you not to get too involved in or empathize with other people's affairs, as it will not do you any good."
