Chapter 28 Wei Wuxian
A week later, Jian Qianqian met Wei Wuxian, the owner of the auction items, at a private club in Beijing.
Jian Qianqian didn't even tell Jian Ximo about this meeting.
These days, her client at the Sumubi Auction House kept telling her that many institutions had come to her door, and they all politely stated that they did not want to snatch the property, but simply wanted to cooperate.
Jian Qianqian could set any conditions she wanted, as long as they could share a few of the things in Wei Wuxian's hands with them.
But Jian Qianqian refused them all. Firstly, her goal had not been achieved yet; secondly, the organizations outside were so fierce and aggressive that she had to hide well to avoid being eaten alive by those guys.
"Hehehe, you're the lucky one I picked. Hello, hello, I'm Wei Wuxian, which means endless in Chinese!"
Sitting opposite Jian Qianqian was Wei Wuxian, a slovenly man who looked like a homeless person if he walked on the street.
He wore an inappropriate straw hat and sunglasses, and sat in a nonchalant manner. He looked uninhibited... and similar to those researchers with eccentric personalities...?
Jian Qianqian guessed that Wei Wuxian might be a physics researcher. After all... he gave her the feeling of being mysterious.
There were only the two of them in this meeting. Jian Qianqian had good English, so she declined the client's suggestion to find a simultaneous interpreter.
Wei Wuxian was holding a briefcase in his hand. Seeing Jian Qianqian staring at the briefcase in his hand, he couldn't help but snorted coldly and put the bag casually on the table.
"Here! The thing you're fighting over is my bastard brother's notebook. Is that worth it?"
While drinking coffee, Wei Wuxian loosely crossed his left leg over his right leg in front of Jian Qianqian, shaking it.
Jian Qianqian felt that this might be caused by... physicists looking down on biologists' notes. After all... Wei Wuxian was likely to believe that his own research was more impressive?
Jian Qianqian smiled, didn't say anything, just took the briefcase.
When he opened the briefcase, he found well-preserved notes inside, including personal notes, diaries, and some research manuscripts.
Dr. TC, a medical and biological genius who died young, obtained dual doctoral degrees at the age of 18, then majored in medicine and led his medical team to the forefront of medical research.
But shortly after his 20th birthday, he was found dead at home due to overwork. The first person to discover it was Wei Wuxian.
Afterwards, Wei Wuxian inherited his remaining notes, diaries and research manuscripts as his legacy.
Although Dr. TC's medical team had filed a lawsuit for this, according to the legal provisions, this part of the things was still given to Wei Wuxian, and Wei Wuxian inherited it all.
Naturally, there was such a grand auction.
"Have you finished reading the manuscript? Could it be that you, little girl, are also studying medicine and biology?"
Wei Wuxian looked at Jian Qianqian, then curled the corners of his mouth and leaned down like an eagle.
He told Jian Qianqian directly that, not to mention the contents of the diary, just his brother's research manuscripts alone were so incomprehensible that anyone without a doctoral degree would have no idea what was written.
"So, you took this picture to please the people in the organization behind you! I have an idea, do you want to hear it?"
Jian Qianqian raised her eyes and glanced at Wei Wuxian.
"Everyone is looking for this manuscript right now. There are many collaborating and competing institutions. Do you and your institution want to conduct research in peace and quiet?"
"I can help you attract firepower and even help you make mistakes! Not only do you not need to invest, you can even get paid!"
"You just need to declare that you only have a portion of the manuscript in my hands. I can then use the data you've researched as my brother's manuscript to make some money. I can have other research institutions help you verify whether it's right or wrong. We'll split the profits 50-50. How about that?"
Jian Qianqian didn't understand what Wei Wuxian meant, but Wei Wuxian continued speaking.
If they agree, they must sign a confidentiality agreement. If the secret is leaked due to something happening in their institution, Wei Wuxian has the right to obtain and publish all the research results of their institution.
...Jian Qianqian frowned. What kind of agreement is this... It sounds not only overbearing, but also like a robber.
"Of course, you must, absolutely, especially! Protect my life and safety. We are, as you say in Chinese, grasshoppers on the same rope! Trial and error in scientific research is so expensive these days. Saving this money is a lot of money. Consider it."
There was a gleam in Wei Wuxian's eyes.
“…”
But Jian Qianqian's expression remained unchanged. She had originally intended to use this to contact a surgical medical team that could help Jian Junze with hand recovery surgery, rather than contacting a medical institution!
But based on the news she received recently, Jian Qianqian realized that she had actually taken on a hot potato.
"Why, your agency won't even give you permission to film something you've filmed? Your agency is really mistreating a lucky guy like you!"
Wei Wuxian sat back, shaking his head and sighing, feeling that Jian Qianqian's luck had gone to waste.
Jian Qianqian looked at Wei Wuxian and suddenly curled her lips imperceptibly.
“I don’t have any agency behind me!”
Jian Qianqian had just finished saying this coldly when Wei Wuxian immediately looked up at her in disbelief, and then immediately laughed and joked that Jian Qianqian was talking nonsense.
