Chapter 8 No one has ever asked me this question
Early the next morning, Jian Qianqian was rarely woken up by her grandmother.
She was extremely sleepy. She ate her breakfast perfunctorily while listening to the daily conversation between Grandma Jian and Mr. Jian.
"Humph, you were a thief last night? How come..."
"Go away, you're the thief!"
Old Master Jian wanted to complain about Jian Qianqian from time to time, but Grandma Jian wouldn't let him. However, when Jian Qianqian heard what Old Master Jian said, she subconsciously raised her eyebrows. Don't say it, she really was a thief last night.
Jian Qianqian took a piece of bread and asked about Jian Xi's whereabouts. When she heard Jian's grandmother say that he had left with his adoptive mother, Jian Qianqian nodded and didn't ask any more questions.
"Okay, don't think about anything else. I'll go pick up Jian Ximo soon. When he comes, you'll be relieved!"
Old Master Jian put down the cutlery at hand, spoke gently, and left the table without even looking at Grandma Jian.
Jian Qianqian was stunned for a few seconds before she realized that they woke her up so early to pick up Jian Ximo.
In Jian Qianqian's memory, when she was just taken back to the Jian family, Jian Ximo and she had a good relationship, but later for some reason, the two gradually became estranged, and Jian Qianqian gradually became closer to her third brother Jian Junze.
Now that Jian Ximo came back so quickly, I don’t know whether it was for myself or for Jian Junze who had a hand injury.
Jian Qianqian took another bite of bread. She hoped that Jian Ximo could... um... be more rational?
After all, the hot soup that Jian Junze splashed on her still hurt a little.
After the meal, Grandma Jian seemed to be afraid that Jian Ximo would be hungry, so she asked the housekeeper to prepare a lot of things, including a thermos cup of hot soup.
Jian Qianqian looked at the thermos, thought for a while, and quietly rolled it to the ground after getting in the car.
Anyway, Grandma Jian is not going, so it’s better not to let Jian Ximo see this thermos.
At the airport, Jian Qianqian stared at the screen of her mobile phone while waiting for Jian Ximo at the international flight exit with a lack of interest.
She was so engrossed in reading the news that she naturally didn't notice that Jian Ximo, who was wearing a black windbreaker, was 1.82 meters tall but extremely thin, had come out of the exit.
Jian Ximo came back in a hurry. After hearing the news from Grandma Jian, he didn't even pack his luggage and booked a flight back overnight.
From a distance, Jian Ximo recognized Jian Qianqian leaning on the luggage carriage. She was still so thin. At this moment, she was supporting her chin with her hand and had one foot on the luggage carriage. Her expression was casual, but her eyes were focused on the mobile phone in her hand.
She stepped on the limousine in this casual manner, not caring at all what would happen if she accidentally stepped over her head and fell.
She always seems to have this strange carelessness about herself.
Jian Ximo frowned, but his heart seemed to skip a beat at this moment. He didn't expect that this familiar feeling would come back to him on the first day after returning.
"Qian Qian!"
Jian Ximo walked forward, and Jian Qianqian seemed to be startled by his sudden appearance. Her foot slipped, and she was about to fall as the limousine was about to slide away.
Almost instantly, Jian Ximo stopped the limousine, then exerted force and carried her out of the limousine with one hand.
"Jian...Jian Ximo?"
Jian Qianqian looked in disbelief at this young man who was much taller than her, but unusually...slim, no, it should be said that he was terribly skinny.
His face looked normal, but his eye sockets were deeply sunken, as if he had not eaten for a long time.
No wonder Grandma Jian prepared so much food. Did Jian Ximo live like a ghost in a foreign country?
"Are you hungry? There's a lot of food in the car, but I didn't bring any down!"
Jian Qianqian obeyed her heart, but just as she finished speaking, she found that Jian Ximo glared at her unconsciously.
Well, Jian Qianqian thought, maybe Jian Ximo was blaming her for what happened to Jian Junze.
She shouldn't be so close to Jian Ximo after not seeing him for so many years.
So, Jian Qianqian thought about helping Jian Ximo with his luggage first, but when she looked around, she realized that Jian Ximo... didn't seem to have any luggage.
…
He came back so quickly?
"Um, regarding Jian Junze's matter, actually..."
Jian Qianqian lowered her head and was thinking about how to tell Jian Ximo about this matter first, when she heard Jian Ximo ask her very seriously: "Are you okay?"
…
"ah?"
Jian Qianqian took a few seconds to react before realizing that the person Jian Ximo had just asked was her, not Jian Junze.
Perhaps because Jian Qianqian was distracted, Jian Ximo squatted down again, stared at Jian Qianqian, and asked again:
"Jian Qianqian, are you okay?"
…
Jian Qianqian was really stunned this time. She looked at Jian Ximo and found that there was no joking expression on Jian Ximo's face. He was not blaming her, but was just seriously asking her how she felt.
Jian Qianqian didn't understand what Jian Ximo meant, but subconsciously avoided his gaze.
This look of extraordinary concern for her seemed... more equal and considerate than that shown by Jian Zhongyin and Jian Xi.
"Most people who see me ask how Jian Junze is doing first..."
No one ever asked her whether she was doing well.
Jian Qianqian looked down at her shoes. She heard her own voice was very calm and indifferent, as if this matter did not cause any grievance to her, and was just an ordinary daily trivial matter.
