Chapter 254: A hundred miles of lakes, a thousand miles of grasslands (please vote and subscribe)

It has been said before that the geographical location of the Han tribe is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. Although the area that has been explored is still very limited, the general terrain is still similar, so the direction that Youfu is heading now is getting lower and lower, basically following the river all the way downstream.

In addition, there are many tribes encountered along the way. It feels that the population density increases as you go southeast. However, apart from replenishing some food and water, Youfu's team basically did not stop, because they did not know how far to go to the place with a lot of water.

The tribes along the way saw that this team of people were all strong men, each of them was riding a beast, and there were two houses that could be pulled away. They all avoided them, not to mention taking the initiative to come forward and talk. Fortunately, this team of people who looked very powerful did not stop, which made these tribes feel a little relieved.

This rapid march did not last long. Starting from the Lu tribe, it took only 11 days for the group to reach the end of the road.

The end does not mean that there is the sea in front, nor the so-called big lake, but that they ran along a relatively spacious place until they reached the edge of a cliff.

The cliff is not very high, less than 50 meters, but it is quite steep. The overall situation is that it faces south and sits north. People standing on the edge of the cliff can clearly see the vast world in the south, because there is really nothing in front of them. From the cliff down, the terrain in the south is too flat.

On the large plain below the cliff, on the east side is a very huge lake. The lake water is clear and the scenery is pleasant. The water surface reflects the blue sky and white clouds, and the lake water is also reflected in the sky blue.

People often talk about the 800-li Dongting Lake. Although this lake is certainly not as big as Dongting Lake, it is not small either. It is at least 500 miles in radius. Even if you ride a horse, you can't run around this lake without a few days.

Countless water birds flew over the water, including giant geese, gray-green wild ducks with a wingspan of about one meter, and flamingos with long and thin legs, which were taller than a human when they stood up. They had long necks and pure white feathers, but the first-level flight feathers of their tails and wings were black. There was a circle of golden red eye shadow around their eyes, and a cluster of more than one foot long red feathers stood high on their heads, dazzling like a cluster of flames.

These water birds were all hunting without exception. They gathered in groups to enjoy the feast brought by the autumn sea, which was the countless migrating fish that spawned.

Where there was plenty of food, there would naturally be no lack of human figures. Some humans paddled simple rafts, or more stylish canoes, and pulled fishing nets made of hemp ropes to catch fish in the lake.

Of course, the human diet is not as simple as that of waterfowl. Some tribes are hunting large flocks of waterfowl with bows and arrows. Some even steal their eggs from the grass on the shore when the waterfowl go out to hunt, or directly kill the female birds watching the nests, taking away the eggs and the chickens

. However, this kind of killing of bird offspring is rare after all. Otherwise, if the nests were killed directly, the number of waterfowl would not be so large. Besides, places like the lakeside are generally dangerous, and not all tribes dare to seek excitement by the lake.

Compared with the gluttonous feast in the lake, the battlefield by the lake seems to be more bloody. The water grass here is lush and the products are rich. Thousands of cattle, sheep, horses, and deer roam here, eating the water grass like harvesters, leaving only bare land and large areas of feces that nourish the grassland.

Luo Chong had never seen saber-toothed tigers with long teeth. They hunted large herbivores in groups of three or five. Yes, saber-toothed tigers were not the overlords of the mountains, but creatures that lived on the grasslands. They would not act alone, but usually in groups of five or six, specializing in hunting large units such as bison and wild horses.

Of course, there were more than just saber-toothed tigers in these places. Groups of prairie wolves, brutal hyenas, yellow-skinned jackals, fiery red foxes, and huge grizzly bears could all be seen here.

However, there are also creatures that these predators dare not provoke, or that are greedy but powerless, such as the water deer that swims in the water all the time, and the giant tapirs that stay in the water like hippos, leaving the predators helpless.

Larger units are not uncommon on land, and they exist in the Han tribe, such as the woolly rhinoceros with dark brown long hair and the thunder beast with hard skin like gray iron armor, all of which are three or four meters tall. The

largest creature is the saber-toothed elephant, whose adult height is comparable to that of a two-story building. It is the absolute overlord on the grassland, and they never act alone, leaving predators with nothing to do.

I don't know how Rourou and Huishan will react if they see their kind, whether they will leave Luo Chong or stay in the Han tribe and continue to be mascots. Maybe they will be reluctant to leave at that time, after all, elephants are still very smart creatures, their brains are large, and they can also have feelings.

Of course, since humans mastered the power of controlling fire, human civilization has been constantly evolving and developing. Although there are predators all around on the grassland, there are still human figures here.

The grassland nomadic tribes have learned to make bows and arrows. They have tamed the wild horses with a chaste nature, the cunning and changeable grassland wolves, the bison that move like thunder, and the sheep that are timid but run fast.

The tribesmen of the nomadic tribe waved whips made of leather strips and galloped on the grassland. The cattle and sheep were grazing everywhere under the protection of dozens of loyal sheepdogs. Whenever there were jackals, tigers or leopards coming to harass them, the sheepdogs would rush up and fight them fearlessly. The herders would also drive the horses to drive away the beasts.

Long-range archery attacks, close combat sheepdogs fighting hard, usually, the wild beasts that harass the herdsmen will not have a good end, after a fight, not only will they not catch the prey, but they may even lose their lives. The nomadic tribes are not afraid of encountering such things, and they also like the animal skins and food delivered to their doorsteps.

The warriors of the nomadic tribes are very fierce. They grew up in such a dangerous environment. If they can't be a qualified warrior, it will be difficult for them to survive. If they don't have two brushes, they can't survive on such a grassland where wolves dance together.

The grassland next to the lake is even more vast, and I don't know how many times larger it is than this lake. Maybe if you want to run to the seaside, you really have to walk thousands of miles.

呖——呖

——Accompanied by the cry of two Azuka giant eagles in the sky, Youfu retracted his gaze and said to the team behind him.

"Let's rest here today. Tomorrow we will find a way down from here to see."
