Chapter 10

Chapter 10

It wasn't long before they stopped.

Suddenly, the sound of mopping the floor was close to the door, and it hit the door with a dull "bang", as if something had reached the door.

Then the door began to shake.

This noise made them inexplicably more nervous.

An idea came to their minds: the crude broken door could not block the attack for long. Once the monsters rushed in, they would not even have anywhere to hide.

There was no other way. Without any clues and knowing they couldn't get out, they could only keep running, hoping to find clues in the loop or run to any other floor.

Wang Biao immediately shouted loudly: "Try to run up."

If they had changed direction, Wang Biao would have been the last one in line, isolated by the ghosts in the corridor.

Lu Jiamu smiled at him, turned around and ran upstairs.

Wang Biao didn't think much about the meaning of his smile, but after running a few steps, he felt a cold wind blowing on his neck and heard layers of laughter in his ears: Hehehe... Hehehe... Hehe...

Now he heard the laughter that Yu Leng had mentioned repeatedly before.

Wang Biao was so frightened that he shivered and almost fell over in the surrounding laughter: "...Did you hear the laughter?"

Lu Jiamu answered as he ran: “I’ve heard it before.”

Then why didn't you say it just now?

In fact, this voice has always been following them?

Wang Biao felt a chill and veins on his forehead throbbed, but he didn't want to appear to be less timid than Lu Jiamu.

They ran up and continued to cycle on the sixth floor, and then they went up again and it was still the sixth floor.

After running up two floors, Lu Jiamu soon realized something was wrong. He slowed down at the corner of the stairs and gradually stopped.

After such a long time, the door was still shaking. It seemed that the monster outside was just banging on it continuously, but it couldn't shake the simple broken lock.

So weak?

Perhaps, we should not judge people by their appearance, and we should not think that people are more powerful just because they have more eyes.

Realizing that his weakness had been exposed, Lu Jiamu suddenly lost all of his most basic human emotions of awe.

Of course, seeing as how it seemed to be resentful of the door, it would be even better if it could successfully break through the broken door and rush in to fight with the ghost in the stairwell.

Lu Jiamu stretched out his hand and gestured to stop. After a little thought, he walked up half a flight of stairs alone. However, he did not rush over. Instead, he took a few steps towards the door of the floor and reached out to touch the door that was being knocked violently.

At the same time, Lu Jiamu imagined a scene in his mind: a monster with a bunch of eyes rushed into the stairwell, while they were guarding the boundary between the sixth floor and the other floors. When the monster rushed down, they also ran down and returned to the top of the sixth floor.

As the monsters chased them upwards, they also ran upwards and then reappeared at the bottom of the sixth floor.

Playing hide-and-seek with this kind of ghost wall is just like a puzzle game, and you don't know what the monster should do. It must be very interesting to play with dogs like this.

Lu Jiamu had already imagined it with short and fragile limbs, well... or more legs, a fat and heavy body, a pitiful crawling speed, and a bunch of useless eyes.

However, the door bounced and passed through his palm, but Lu Jiamu did not feel the vibration at all. What he touched was just a calm wall.

The door is just an illusion.

But in their eyes, the monster behind the door became even more violent, and the door lock was clanging and was about to break.

But this is obviously not true. It's like in those cheap movies, a powerful and ferocious mutant monster is roaring outside the window, but it just keeps smashing the glass window with its head.

And they didn't come in for hours, or they were stuck on the window frame and could only bite the air with their mouths open. Apart from keeping the protagonists alive and ruining their mentality, they seemed useless.

Lu Jiamu took another look and quickly guessed: they were all fake!

In addition to the ability to create a mysterious wall, this ghost must also have the ability to create hallucinations.

During class today, Mr. Wen said that low-level ghosts that can only indirectly affect humans cannot actively initiate skills. There must be some signs or prior conditions.

Now that he thought about it, as soon as they entered the stairwell, Wang Biao covered his neck and looked back. He must have been blown by the cold wind, and it was following them and exerting its influence at that time.

The Eyes in the Dark did see it at the beginning, but at that time they were within the control of the stair ghost and had not actually walked out, so whether what they saw was true or false is debatable.

The blood-stained laughter and the looping sound appeared after Yu Leng saw the monster behind the door and was so scared that he slammed the door and locked it.

Lu Jiamu speculated that it might be because Yu Leng locked the door, forming a certain kind of closure, which triggered its ghost wall skill.

This is a ghost that is good at opening and closing doors.

Now the real door should have been distorted away, and the one that seems to be broken through by the monster is just an illusion.

Lu Jiamu tapped lightly on the fake door with his fingers, and felt a solid touch.

He knocked quickly along the wall until he hit the exploded human-shaped bloodstain on the wall.

Boom...

It's an empty sound.

The bloodstain that exploded moved a bit, and the part that should correspond to the face slowly cracked into a weird smile, and the laughter became clearer: Hehehehe...

As soon as Lu Jiamu raised his head, he met its "eyes" which were slowly turning downwards.

It was just a bloodstain printed on the wall, but where the facial features originally were, real liquid slowly flowed out, dripping scarlet liquid onto the back of Lu Jiamu's hand.

It smiled maliciously at him, as if it was about to jump off the wall: Hehehehe...

Lu Jiamu took out a survival hammer from his pocket without hesitation and smashed it in the face.

Jiamu didn't know whether this was the twisted door behind it, but he knew that the wall was hollow.

As long as you have enough tools, it is difficult to have an absolutely secret room.

As long as you break through the wall, there is no secret room that you cannot escape from.

Amid the surrounding laughter, Lu Jiamu watched it walk down the wall little by little, but he ignored it and just focused on smashing the wall with an expressionless face, hitting it dozens of times in a row.

Just when the atmosphere on the stairs became extremely tense, the ghost suddenly stopped smiling.

It quickly shrank back into a ball against the wall, then jumped up along the wall.

Suddenly, their distorted senses returned, and something in their previous cognition shifted slightly.

Lu Jiamu was standing in front of the door of the building, hitting it with a hammer.

Then the door was pushed open, and a hoarse voice asked impatiently, "Why are you not back to the dormitory so late at night? What are you doing here?"

There was a man standing outside the door, his body covered with black veins.

He held a flashlight and shone the bright light across their faces one by one: "I heard the noises you made from a long way off!"

Lu Jiamu almost lost control of his strength and hit him with the hammer.

It was Teacher Gao. His weird and ugly zombie face seemed so familiar to them at this moment.

It seemed that Teacher Gao had discovered that they were missing and had come to look for them. This was unexpected.

Teacher Gao dodged backwards for a moment, then glanced around with a deadpan expression and asked, "I didn't keep an eye on you, and you're going to destroy school property? There are penalties for destroying school property!"

Lu Jiamu put away the hammer: "Teacher, there is a ghost in the corridor that has trapped us."

After hearing this, Teacher Gao immediately squeezed in and asked, "Where is it?"

I didn't expect that Teacher Gao, who usually speaks harshly and looks scary, would have a surprisingly good attitude towards this kind of thing.

Lu Jiamu pointed at the door: "It was right here just now."

Teacher Gao waved the flashlight and looked around the stairwell, but didn't see anything unusual: "Maybe he ran away. Tell me what you saw just now?"

Lu Jiamu described it to him honestly.

After listening to this, Teacher Gao shook his head and sighed, "This little devil is difficult to deal with."

"This kind of kid is easy to encounter on campus, but it's hard to catch because it can run away."

The light from Mr. Gao's flashlight shone on his face, which was covered with black veins, making him look eerie.

He said in a hoarse voice: "Remember, before the lights are turned off, there are teachers patrolling on each floor of the teaching building. It is almost impossible for a whole floor to be occupied by a ghost without anyone noticing. They are only likely to appear in some corners that are rarely noticed. The campus is very safe, you still have to have some confidence in the school."

As a class where one person dies every day, isn't it a bit against one's will to say this?

"Let's go. It was discovered today and it probably won't come back in a short time. You can continue to come to this floor tomorrow."

After Teacher Gao finished speaking, he personally led them downstairs with a flashlight and took them back to the dormitory, muttering hoarsely as he walked: "As long as ghosts have intelligence, they are good at deceiving."

"So, never believe in lies. Remember this, and you will live longer in the future."

Lu Jiamu responded politely: "I'll remember it, teacher."

Back in the dormitory, there were only two minutes left until lights out, and Teacher Gao began to count the number of people again.

Yu Tong and Wei Xiaoyan breathed a sigh of relief when they saw them coming back, and asked Kou Man, "Sister, did you find anything today?"

Coleman shook his head, but did not tell them about the ghost encounter. He just said, "Let's go tomorrow."

Lu Jiamu returned to his bed, took off his clothes and folded them neatly, while humming the song he had been thinking about for a long time but had not had the chance to sing: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star…

Yu Leng listened twice and recognized the melody.

Although Lu Jiamu was not tone-deaf or hoarse, the tune he hummed was so light and vague, like the mumbling in a dream, that it soon made Yu Leng have some bad associations.

"You..." Yu Leng lay there for a while, and finally asked in a low voice, "Can you change the song?"

Lu Jiamu was silent for a moment, then lay down and prepared to sleep.

Teacher Gao had already counted the number of people, and after saying "Good night, sweet dreams" in a hoarse and unpleasant voice that seemed to give people nightmares, he left the dormitory.

The student closest to the door had just made sure that Teacher Gao had gone far away, and before he had time to put the bolt on, the door was suddenly pushed open.

A cold wind blew into the house, carrying a foul stench.

A bloated creature, who was obviously not a living person, stumbled in from outside.

It is grayish white all over, and I don't know why it has lost its color.

It moved between the beds, murmuring inarticulately as it walked: "I want to eat... cake... I want to eat... cake..."

The dormitory suddenly fell into anxious silence again.
