Chapter 30
Lu Jiamu pretended that he hadn't noticed anything and continued to point the way with an unmoved expression.
After all, simply suspecting someone of malicious intent is different from actually doing something bad. In this environment, it is better to be an ally than an enemy.
Lu Jiamu gently squeezed the iron box, signaling the other party to save some for him.
The librarian was unusually quiet, but had slightly turned his eyes.
Fortunately, the little mummy did not target him. It stared at the back of his head for a short while before changing direction to stare at someone else.
Although the truck's high beam was on, it still couldn't penetrate the black fog, and at most one could see the general outline of objects six or seven meters away.
The car drove along the road planned by Jiamu for more than half an hour, and suddenly stopped moving.
The man in the driver's seat stepped on the accelerator to the floor, veins throbbing on his forehead, but the car just made a friction sound under the heavy load.
"…trapped in a pit?"
Lu Jiamu shook his head: "This road was very smooth before."
The man stopped, and his sharp and vicious eyes swept over Lu Jiamu first, then looked at the children in the back row: "You, one of you go down and see what's going on!"
The enclosed environment of a carriage is relatively safe, but if you get off the train, you don’t know what risks you will face.
The children behind hesitated for a long time before they picked out an unlucky child before the other party threatened them again.
The child trembled as he opened the car door and got out to check. After a while, he stood up again and said through the car window with a pale face, "There's a plant in the wheel."
The man in the driver's seat immediately said, "Then go and take them out."
The child pulled out a dagger from the pocket beside his thigh, and reluctantly squatted down to cut the thing that was entangled in the tire, and then shouted: "It can't be cut!"
The man cursed "waste" in a low voice and was about to get out of the car himself.
But as soon as he finished cursing, the people in the truck suddenly felt a shake.
The child outside stood up in confusion: "Shrink... Shrink back by itself..."
...shrank back?
But anyway, the car can move again.
Just as the child was about to get back into the car, a thick vine suddenly rushed out from the black fog and wrapped around the child at an extremely fast speed.
Because visibility was too low, the thing wasn't discovered until it was three or four meters away from them. It was so fast and agile that no one had time to react.
So when the child was caught up without any warning, before he could grab the handlebars tightly, he was dragged into the black fog with a scream of terror and disappeared.
There was a sudden silence in the truck.
...What was that outside just now?
Lu Jiamu lowered his head and glanced at the iron box.
The librarian did not jump up and down immediately with excitement, but muttered quietly: "It's hidden in the soil, how can I see it?"
The man in the driver's seat had gotten rid of his daze. He stepped on the accelerator with fear and prepared to drive out directly.
But in front of them, the entire earth began to tremble, and strong vines emerged from the soil one after another, twisting and entwining to form a huge monster.
The man wanted to swerve left or right to avoid it, but he soon discovered that the plant was extremely flexible and was an excellent predator. He could not avoid it by simply turning, and would easily overturn the car.
The man gritted his teeth, stepped on the brakes decisively, changed gears and started to reverse, shouting to Lu Jiamu: "Change the road, change the road, change the road!"
Everyone in the carriage staggered to and fro.
The monster had already pulled its roots out of the soil and started running away.
Some people have already started to curse: "What the hell!"
At the same time, they were complaining in their hearts: If you were an animal, you wouldn’t have grown so many vines; if you were a plant, you wouldn’t have been able to run!
The car can't reverse as fast as it.
Just as the monster was about to catch up with them and crush them, the black fog in the air suddenly surged.
They gathered towards the vine monster, and then the thick black fog seemed to change some of its properties, turning into burning black flames and burning quietly.
The huge monster made of vines was ignited by the black fog, and it let out an inhuman scream. It collapsed in an instant, and soon turned into a pool of ashes on the spot.
The man in the driver's seat stopped the car in doubt, and the only sound in the entire car was the sound of each other's wildly beating heartbeats.
Although that thing was dead, no one knew how it died. Perhaps there was some kind of monster in the black fog that was more terrifying than it.
The little mummy said intermittently: "Why... don't you want to leave?"
Everyone in the car looked at the little mummy in shock.
After a moment of silence, the man in the driver's seat started the car again.
This time the journey was smooth and they arrived at the principal's building in no time.
The light gate that could only be seen from a distance before finally became clear.
At about the height of the second floor, the light penetrated the floor and walls and shone directly into the eyes of the five people.
But they could all see that the light was only coming through the crack in the door, and the real door had not been opened yet.
It is only the early hours of Sunday morning, and there are still more than two days left until the fourteen-day deadline.
The five people all glanced and then looked away, without showing anything unusual.
Lu Jiamu first asked the librarian: "Is the principal here?"
The pair of eyes whispered, "I can't see it. It must be dead... There's no one in there now."
Several adults were a little excited, with a little hope in their eyes. Then the leading man pointed at Lu Jiamu and said, "You, go in first."
Lu Jiamu nodded, holding the black cross in his left hand and the Tai Chi sword in his right hand, and cautiously led the way into the principal's building.
The power was out in the principal's building and it was pitch black, but the sound of water splashing could still be heard.
The child behind Lu Jiamu turned on the flashlight for him and shone it forward.
There was a smiling statue holding a ceramic fountain standing in front of them. Red liquid was leaking out of the ceramic in its hand. It was quiet and strange.
A scarlet light flashed in the statue's eyes, and its neck moved. Before it could do anything else, its entire head exploded with a bang. The explosion startled a group of people.
Something twisted in the shadows beside the statue, then ran in different directions.
But Lu Jiamu had already raised the cross: "Slowly."
The dark light enveloped everything, and the shadows' movements became jittery, and they began to flee frame by frame.
The little mummy urged again: "Let's go...ah."
If they didn't come over, Lu Jiamu didn't want to provoke them. He looked back at the little mummy without saying anything, then examined the shadows again, walked through the hall, and went up to the second floor via the stairs.
The second floor was also empty, but hanging in the middle of the floor was a huge, beating black heart.
There were some obscure and strange patterns painted on it, and as the heart beat, the patterns flowed, giving the whole heart a strange sense of beauty.
And the door of light that has just opened a crack is right on this heart.
Several adults were stunned: "This is...how do we take this away?"
They had only heard that there was a core sealed object on the campus, but they didn't know it was a heart that looked alive.
The little mummy's eyes moved back and forth and finally fixed on the heart. It remained quiet and motionless.
Lu Jiamu suggested: "Let's wait here for the others."
