Chapter 82 Killing the Demon 22
Lu Cen thought the captain of the guards was probably in grave danger, but he came again the next night.
He also brought an ice blade.
Lu Cen scanned the area outside but found no one.
"you……"
The captain of the guards wasn't stupid; he had his own little schemes. In this instance, apart from Lu Cen, who was related to his mission and could be considered part of the same faction, everyone else wished he would die immediately.
Yesterday, he was taken away by the band leader. This man not only didn't kill him, but also forced him to a huge door under the cover of night. He said there were ice blades inside that could kill Josiah.
The captain of the guard couldn't understand his behavior and was on high alert. This man was a demon, so why should he help him?
He had a guess in his mind; the only explanation was that this person was a player.
If he were a player, this would be a trap, an obvious one, but he would have no choice but to fall for it, as the ice blades were their most important weapon.
If he succeeds, the mission is complete; if he fails, Lu Cen will still have a chance.
He had to get his hands on that ice blade no matter what.
With the help of the band leader, he easily obtained the key item. Now the most important thing is how to kill Josiah. He shoved the ice blade into Lucen's hand and said, "Whether you kill him or not is up to you."
Before Lu Cen could reply, the captain of the guards left.
Lu Cen stared at the ice blade in his hand for a long time without saying a word.
Two days later, in the afternoon, it was a gathering of the demon race. Josiah sat at the head of the table, with countless demons of different appearances sitting below him.
Lu Cen took a book and hid in her room to read it.
Josiah offered to go to the party, but Lucen declined. He didn't like these kinds of occasions and preferred to be alone.
When Lu Cen traveled back a thousand years, a large number of demons died, which must have been during the period of conflict between the two Alvin races. At that time, they both wanted to kill each other. However, when he was with Josiah, he did not have any special feelings towards humans. He had no disgust or hatred.
He found it strange.
He's been looking through the history of demons these past few days.
He had searched through most of the books from Alvin's time, but this information was of no help to the mission; it was just something Lu Cen was curious about.
Lu Cen sat by the fireplace, his gaze fixed on the book.
The first line describes a girl named Lily, whose life story is similar to that of other demons. However, after she comes of age and descends the mountain, a name appears that surprises Lu Cen.
After Lily descended the snow-capped mountain, she encountered a group of guards on a merchant's journey. The leader was a young boy with a youthful face, but he was shrewd in his dealings.
Seeing Lily wandering alone near the Rosie Forest, he felt sorry for her and invited her to stay with them. Lily thought he was kind and thought it wouldn't hurt to spend more time with him.
As time passed, the two became acquainted. During a rescue of the city's residents, the boy was accidentally bitten by a poisonous snake. He felt that he was going to die soon and burst into tears. But Lily cut her wrist and fed the boy her blood.
The boy was stunned.
Only after he had been detoxified did he belatedly ask, "Why is your blood green?"
Lily was innocent and naive, unaware of the wickedness of human nature. Her tribe taught her never to tell humans her identity, nor to anyone else, that the blood of the Sturgeon had the power to cure all diseases.
At first, she remembered these instructions, but she felt that the boy was kind-hearted and treated her with utmost sincerity and care. The boy invited her to his home, and she stayed there for many years. Lily had long forgotten the rules and instructions of her tribe, as well as the existence and secrets of the demon race. During their time together, Lily told him everything. When he saw Lily transform into a terrifying demon, he was so frightened that his legs trembled.
I still feel disgusted.
But he didn't show any sign of it on the surface; on the contrary, he became even more attentive to Lily.
In the days that followed, Lily gradually succumbed to the boy's sweet talk, until she was chained to a crude iron cage and became his prey.
At first, he simply cut Lily's wrist and fed the blood to humans who were about to die. To his surprise, these humans drank the blood and became ten years younger, their diseases were cured without treatment, and they showed no signs of dying.
The boy trembled with excitement.
He conducted numerous experiments using Lily's blood and discovered that this green blood not only had the effect of curing diseases but could also extend human lifespan.
This boy is Alvin.
After discovering this secret, Alvin, the son of the city lord, intentionally or unintentionally searched for the demon's figure in various places. Possessing demon blood, his fame grew, and many humans flocked to him for their lives. In a short period of time, Alvin became a highly sought-after figure, and any disease that came to him could be cured.
Alvin's fame soared.
Just six months later, Lily committed suicide in the iron cage.
Alvin stared at her demonic body and ordered her to be thrown into a mass grave.
In recent years, he has captured many demons. He discovered that only the blood of the Sterg demon has this effect, but there are very few people in this demon branch. It took him a lot of effort to capture just a few.
So even though Lily died, he still had no shortage of blood.
Meanwhile, the demons, having lost demons for years, had long sensed something was amiss. After a period of investigation, they discovered within the demon race that the origin of the problem was actually Lily, leaving them both furious and heartbroken.
Initially, humans and demons only had some minor conflicts. Demons wanted to save people, while humans wanted to capture people. Neither side was willing to let go. Later, the conflict escalated, more and more people died, and war broke out everywhere.
Seeing that the situation had become so serious, Alvin remembered the Ice Blade he had learned about from Lily, and led his men to the snow mountain to obtain it. From then on, they were invincible.
After Alvin's death, the truth of history was buried in the river of time.
Lu Cen stared at the book in silence for a long time. For a moment, he couldn't tell whether the contents of the book were true or the contents of Alvin's autobiography were true. He turned to the next page and saw what was written there.
Josiah, Lily's younger brother, was born from a fruit a thousand years ago. After reaching adulthood, he refused to leave the mountain and spent his days with the flowers in the pool. Lily left the mountain and did not return for five years. Under the arrangement of his tribe, he led people to the human world to search for news of Lily.
"What are you looking at?" Josiah wrapped his arms around Lucen's waist from behind, rested his chin on his shoulder, and glanced at the room, catching sight of Lily's name.
Lu Cen asked, "Is Lily your older sister?"
“Yes,” Josiah yawned. “We grew up in the same fruit, but she was rather dim-witted and easily deceived. As I predicted, she was indeed deceived, which also implicated the entire tribe.”
"Because of her mistake, the demon race suffered heavy casualties, less than one-tenth of what it used to be. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have been the last Stergia demon. The old days were so much fun, hunting birds, looking at flowers, sleeping, and playing with the younger members of the race."
Lu Cen suddenly wondered, "Is that tree also related to her?"
"The tree, when Alvin came to steal the Ice Blade, he cut off the tree's roots. He was afraid the demon would retaliate against his family, so he decided to wipe them out."
"Why did you record the special characteristics of the Stergia blood in your notebook?"
Josiah stopped what he was doing and asked curiously, "How did you know it was me who remembered it?"
"I'm guessing. Alvin didn't mention this in his autobiography, which means he only told his close friends and family. Then, as time went by, this information became more and more elusive, to the point that no human knew about the special nature of your demon blood."
"You guessed so accurately, did you specifically research me?"
Lu Cen was speechless and didn't answer that question. She asked again, "Why did you write this down? Aren't you afraid someone will find out?"
Josiah said indifferently, "So what if you know? What does it matter? You'll kill me anyway, and then there will be no more Sturgeon in this world."
Lu Cen suddenly remembered the time he was sick before, and how the medicine Josiah brewed seemed a bit off after the witch doctor died. Clinging to his last shred of hope, he thought, "When I was sick before, you didn't give me your blood..."
Josiah said matter-of-factly, “He’s dead and I don’t know any medicine. How could you possibly get better without my blood? That arrow wound was deep; no amount of medicine could heal it.”
"So this blood is still somewhat useful. No wonder those humans went crazy. Do you want some? Would you like me to share some with you?"
Lu Cen didn't hear what he said after that. She covered her mouth, lifted Josiah's arm, ran outside, and vomited. He had actually drunk blood! It was blood!
Lu Cen's stomach churned, and he felt an indescribable bloody smell on his body. With this thought, Lu Cen felt that he smelled terrible and vomited again.
Josiah leaned against the door, belatedly realizing that Lu Cen was disgusted by his blood. "I've already drunk it. If I want to vomit, I'll just have to cut my stomach out."
Lu Cen's face was pale, and his body swayed precariously.
He never imagined that in this instance, he would not only eat those strange things in the forest, but now he would even drink human blood.
Josiah couldn't bear to see him like that, so he forcefully carried him back into the house.
"Everyone wants the blood of the Stergium, but you, on the other hand, despise it like it's something dirty. What, don't you want to live forever?"
Lu Cen asked in surprise, "Can your blood grant immortality?"
Josiah was silent for a moment before saying, "It's not that exaggerated. Living a few more years is no problem. Even if I can only live one more day, plenty of people will come looking for me."
Lu Cen said irritably, "I'll grant your wish, lock you up, and drink a mouthful of your blood every day to see if I can live forever."
“You can try,” Josiah said. “How do you want to lock me up?”
"I'm not easy to close, I'm very strong."
“Like Alvin, I’ll build you an iron cage, so you can’t escape even if you want to.” Lu Cen said it casually, unaware that his words touched a nerve with Josiah, who turned Lu Cen around.
Josiah said obsessively, "I'm very obedient. As long as you spend some time with me every day, kiss me, love me, I'll give you as much blood as you want. If you want me to go into the cage, I'll go into the cage. I'll do whatever you want me to do. Is that okay?"
Lu Cen felt that he was seriously ill.
He lowered his head and continued reading, ignoring him. Josiah was dissatisfied, so he pulled out his book, threw it aside, and cupped his face in his hands. "Is that alright?"
"I don't need your blood."
Josiah said expectantly, "Whatever you want, I'll give it to you."
Lu Cen did not understand the rest of his words.
I'll give you anything, I'll satisfy your every need, as long as you like me.
Lu Cen suddenly remembered the ice blade the guard captain had brought. His heart pounded, and he met Josiah's eyes. "I want you dead?"
Are you willing too?
