Chapter 86 Midnight Horror 3
Lu Cen slept soundly, looking haggard. He was terrified by what happened last night, and the image of Jiang Zhao covered in blood was still vivid in his mind.
[I really saw Jiang Zhao.]
[If you don't believe me, come and see for yourself tonight, and you'll see if I'm lying to you.]
Hu Si remained silent for a long time.
Honestly, if Lu Cen were a girl, Hu Si would definitely think that this was an excuse to lure him to a secret rendezvous.
Ghosts? Do they even exist in this world?
They can't even come up with a plausible excuse.
Hu Si, a grown man, was dawdling day after day, and reacted as if facing a major crisis at the slightest disturbance. He typed slowly, while simultaneously expressing his disdain.
[Send me your address.]
Lu Cen had no idea about the address. He located the place, went out to memorize his own house number, and sent it to Hu Si.
[Unit 806, Building 2, Yiju Residential Complex.]
When are you coming?
Hu Si remained silent for a while before replying.
[afternoon. ]
Lu Cen typed to him while washing up.
[Then could you bring me dinner when you come over?]
I don't want to go downstairs.
Hu Si stood in his garden, a Labrador sleeping at his feet, and he looked at the sentence without saying a word.
Are they close?
To be honest, he and Li Yan had barely met. It was Jiang Zhao who insisted on taking Li Yan to another city for photos. He was only added to the group by Jiang Zhao a few days ago. He and Jiang Zhao shared a dormitory, and he didn't think he and Li Yan had a particularly good relationship.
On the contrary, she seemed to dislike Li Yan.
This was the conclusion he drew from his observations. It seemed that there was some kind of grudge between the two, but even if there was a grudge, why would Jiang Zhao still invite Li Yan to go to another place? Hu Si couldn't figure out what Jiang Zhao was thinking.
[Are you missing legs or arms? Have all the delivery drivers gone home to inherit an estate?]
Lu Cen didn't think much of the sentence and didn't take it to heart. He went downstairs and ate a bowl of noodles until his stomach was bloated.
Soon, it was seven o'clock in the evening.
As darkness fell, the streetlights came on, casting a soft glow over the entire city.
Hu Si has not arrived yet.
Lu Cen couldn't sit still, so she took out her phone and sent him a message.
[Not here yet?]
[Where are you?]
They didn't reply for several minutes.
What's your rush?
[On the road.]
Lu Cen felt relieved and continued to wait.
He turned on all the lights in the house, just to give him some comfort. In addition, he turned on the stereo in the living room, and music flowed in.
When Hu Si arrived, his ears and eyes were being attacked. He put the bag on the dining table, frowned, and said, "Turn the music down and turn off the lights."
"oh."
Lu Cen slowly went over to turn off the light.
Hu Si observed the space discreetly. The space was small, but it was filled with Lu Cen's living atmosphere. The bedroom door was open, and a white T-shirt was folded on the light blue bed sheet.
The cushions on the sofa were scattered about, and two empty drink bottles, keys, and tissues were strewn haphazardly on the low coffee table.
"What's in the bag?" Lu Cen asked as she came over, wearing slippers.
"dinner."
"Didn't you say you weren't going to buy it?"
Hu Si was baffled: "When did I say I wasn't going to buy it?"
Lu Cen: "..."
Hu Si's family was well-off, and he felt cramped with just the two of them in the room, but he didn't feel uncomfortable. He wanted to go to the kitchen to get some plates to clear out the food, but he found that the kitchen was empty and had been swept clean, with only a few plates covered in dust.
He wanted to wash it before serving it, but found there was no dish soap left.
His lips twitched a few times before he returned to the living room.
He brought three dishes, which tasted exceptionally good. Lu Cen sat opposite him and ate attentively, eating half a bowl more than usual.
After throwing away the trash, it was nine o'clock.
Before leaving, Hu Si took a shower. He had no intention of taking a shower. Lu Cen had showered at noon and didn't want to shower again. He sat on the brown carpet between the sofa and coffee table, playing a little game. He was extremely serious and completely ignored Hu Si.
Just as Lu Cen was at a crucial moment, a hand snatched his phone away.
He looked up blankly, the sunlight shining on his face, his skin so white it was almost like jade. His eyelashes trembled slightly, and he asked, puzzled, "What's wrong?"
"Didn't they say there were ghosts?"
Lu Cen reached for her phone, but Hu Si avoided her.
Lu Cen replied, "It might not be the right time yet; we'll have to wait a little longer."
Hu Si stared intently at him for a while before returning the phone to him. By the time Lu Cen got his phone back, the game character was already lying on the ground. Lu Cen sighed, no longer interested in playing. He belatedly realized that it was impolite of him to leave Hu Si alone.
He turned on the TV and invited, "Want to watch a movie together?"
Hu Simo sat silently on the sofa. The TV in front of him turned on, and Lu Cen asked for his opinion, "What kind of movies do you like to watch?"
Hu Si: "Whatever."
Lu Cen chose a comedy movie according to his own preferences, and then pulled out a few bags of snacks from under the box. He ate the snacks while watching the movie, and laughed out loud when he saw the funny parts.
Hu Si: "..."
He must be out of his mind to believe this person's nonsense, saying that Jiang Zhao came to see him. Judging from his appearance, he was clearly just playing with him and having fun.
Hu Si coldly tugged at his collar, finally feeling some relief in his chest. But Lu Cen's laughter was so exaggerated that his arm bumped into Hu Si's leg. Hu Si glanced at him subconsciously. This person had no posture, sitting crookedly. Hu Si's gaze slid down his collar and saw nothing but pure white. Hu Si was startled.
Hu Si was half a body taller than him, and could see Lu Cen in his entirety. Lu Cen was wearing a white t-shirt with a slightly large neckline. The fabric was delicate and not as bulky as pure cotton. It hung loosely on his shoulders and was somewhat transparent, making the outline of his upper body vaguely visible. He wore a pair of shorts and his two fair legs were crossed.
He was also wearing shorts today. When Lu Cen leaned over, his arm touched his knee. Hu Si had that thought again: what was the purpose of this person calling him here?
Hu Si rubbed his cheek with the tip of his tongue, looked Lu Cen up and down, and then looked away. He took out his phone and played with it casually, but his attention was diverted to Lu Cen, wanting to see what he was up to.
About ten minutes later, the person who was laughing so hard in front of him suddenly fell asleep on the sofa, still holding a bag of potato chips in his hand.
Hu Si: "..."
Lu Cen was awakened by a knocking sound. He opened his eyes groggily, not quite knowing where he was. After a couple of seconds, he instinctively looked toward the source of the sound and saw the same knocking sound coming from the door as the night before, which became more and more urgent as time went by.
Lu Cen jumped up and found a small light still on in the living room. He didn't know when Lu Cen had fallen asleep on the sofa. The TV had been turned off long ago, and the bedroom door was closed without any sound. Lu Cen hurriedly went to open the bedroom door, and as soon as he opened it, his blood ran cold and he was so shocked that his scalp felt like it was going to explode.
He clearly opened the bedroom door, so why is it the main entrance?
The sound suddenly made the hallway brighter, illuminating the scene at the entrance. A long shadow was cast on the white wall, and a man covered in blood stood at the entrance, with a trail of bloody footprints extending from the darkness to the door of Lu Cen's house.
When the man saw Lu Cen open the door, a terrifying smile spread across his face.
"Li Yan, I miss you so much..."
"Will you come and keep me company? I'm so lonely all by myself..."
Tears of blood streamed from his eyes, down his chin, and onto the ground.
Lu Cen tried to back away, but found himself unable to move. He was terrified and tried to attract Hu Si's attention in the bedroom, but he couldn't even make a sound. He watched helplessly as Jiang Zhao stepped into his living room and the door closed.
Jiang Zhao smiled at him, a smile that was chilling.
"Didn't you like me a lot before...?"
"Don't you like it now...?"
"Have I gotten uglier, or have you fallen for someone else?"
"I miss you so much."
Lu Cen watched as Jiang Zhao's hand gripped his clothes, his fingers trembling with shock. He couldn't hear what Jiang Zhao was saying at all; his eyes were bloodshot. Jiang Zhao's appearance at that moment was too horrifying. His mind was frozen, and only one thought remained in his mind: so this is what it's like to be run over by a car—so bloody and terrifying. Jiang Zhao's face was getting closer and closer to him, his eyes meeting his dark, bright pupils, almost touching them.
Cold sweat dripped from Lu Cen's forehead. During the stalemate, Lu Cen discovered that he could actually move. Taking advantage of Jiang Zhao's inattention, he suddenly retreated behind the dining table, his chest heaving violently as he watched Jiang Zhao warily. The next second, Jiang Zhao suddenly appeared in front of Lu Cen, and he didn't even see how he moved.
Lu Cen was terrified and his breathing became rapid.
Jiang Zhao's flesh was torn and flesh was exposed, and his hand, which was showing bone, gripped Lu Cen's shoulder. Because of this force, Lu Cen's feet were uncontrollably pushed backward, back to the wall, and the back of his head hit the wall. The pain made his vision blur for several seconds, and he couldn't even see Jiang Zhao's face clearly.
The smell of blood filled his nostrils, causing him physical discomfort.
Because the scene was so terrifying, Lu Cen could barely stand.
Jiang Zhao leaned closer, as if to bite him.
At that moment, there was a slight noise coming from the bedroom door; the door opened.
Hu Si's deep, sleepy voice rang in my ears, "What are you doing in the middle of the night, clubbing?"
He stood at the bedroom door, and only after speaking did he realize that there was no one in the living room. He was stunned for a moment, then came to his senses and walked out of the bedroom. When he turned around, he saw Lu Cen sitting in the corner, her head buried in her knees, her hands sticking out from between her legs, her wrists hitting Hu Si's calves.
He startled Hu Si, whose voice involuntarily rose, "What the hell are you doing here instead of sleeping? Trying to scare people by pretending to be a ghost?"
Lu Cen remained silent.
Hu Si kicked his shin. "What are you doing? Are you deaf?"
He kicked again, and this time Lu Cen's body fell to the side due to inertia, his head hitting the white floor with a thud.
Hu Si was taken aback and quickly went to help him up.
Only then did he realize that Lu Cen had fainted. He carried him to the sofa, and as he did so, Lu Cen's shoulders and chest were exposed. There were two finger marks on his thin shoulder hollows.
It was a deep, bright red, as if it had just been pinched.
Hu Si glanced around but found nothing amiss in the room. He brushed aside the soft, fine hair on Lu Cen's forehead, then looked at his lips, his gaze hardening.
A speck of scarlet blood was visible on her rosy lips.
